If the one in my vault would complete the one on my roster, then I would probably go for it, bird in the hand and all.
As it is, I expect that I'll be able to get the shards, and I have a cover saved already, so I think I am probably good.
I know that I could spend 400 HP and reset the vault to get one up, but as I've said before, they don't do enough to support the limited toons, so I don't get motivated anymore to pursue them.


That's my approach. It's just that Marvel's not in the stage where I'm trying to get her to 13. I suppose the best plan is to hold onto the shards for the next time she cycles as it will make her that much easier to rechamp.
That said, if something comes up where 4* Marvel is boosted, then I might go ahead and use them now for that extra 4* level.

When I have unchamped 4*s, then I treat them like I do for the 3*s. I will save them up, but I will not use them until I get enough to get me to my cover goal, then I can distribute them in the best way for optimizing completion. That is either 10 or 12/13, not sure yet. While I would like for it to be 13, I will probably have to settle for 10 now. Since shards have gone live, I've had the capability to get exactly one cover. While there is no guarantee on things, I know that under the old system I would have had more than one BH in this same time frame. I had to abandon Juggy when I could favorite MODOK and Rahne, but I've only got Rahne faved atm anyway since she's due to come up sooner in the SHIELD training.

When I have all of 4*'s chanped, then I pick a toon on which to focus, currently Juggs.

5*'s now will be going to Wasp to get her done. After that, I'm not sure, I'll probably focus on one toon.

I imagine that people have stumbled onto this one, but Medusa, Carnage, and Lockjaw is pretty darn effective in Reunions.
It certainly isn’t fast, but it seems to work out pretty well.

That said, just faced someone fielding Wiccan who managed to pull off an entire board clear with chain lightning. It sucked, but it was impressive to see that work for once.

That reminded me, I'm doing some tracking this season. In the Naughty/Nice I used no shields (until the end). I would get up to 650-700 and then lose points, leveling out around 400. I did get my 4* progression reward, but it was from 40 wins (and that win put me at 825ish points - so more than one away if going for 900 points).

Now, from my prizes, I apparently was in SCL9, which is not where I usually go for PVP. No idea how I ended up picking that option.

So ... do you think this will quiet the masses? Obviously, there will always be those who will be angry and never let go. Not counting them. What % of the ones not dug into being angry will be satisfied with the update?

Egads, now I really want some sort of shard management dashboard page.
I now have loose shards all over the place.
Some toons are now at 390/400 and I've got some, like Emma, at 30/400.
That actually makes it slightly tempting to buy the Emma costume.
Instead of 30 shards hanging out, I could have 80 shards hanging out.

Maybe this weekend. Just manage toons/number of shards? Anything else?

See, I think that the update and the rewards, while related, are disjoint concepts in that regard.

I'm not sure what the calculations were for getting these rewards. I think it was in the article.
In any case, I think the anger over the rewards was because it was felt that we were short changed on how things normally go. I'm not positive, but I think that what we just got was probably in line with what you expected for secondary characters.

But like I said, that anger was over crappy rewards compared to how they'd hand'ed such things previously.

The anger at the new system is about the new system. A few rewards thrown my way is not going to convince me that shards are better than the old BHs. The math does not lie. A patient player is getting hosed here.*

That said, I think the general populace is easily bought and this should quell much of the vitriol.


* - Yes, I realize most players are not a patient in this game as I am, and I think you are. I get frustrated when I have a 7/2/7 character, but I would take that any day over the current system since I know that I will eventually get there.
I'm just irritated because the design of the system is going to make it harder for me to keep pace with the game.
The BHs would let me get those more recent releases up to 10 covers, but that was often by the skin of my teeth. With a lower bonus acquisition rate, I fear that I might not be able to do the skin of the teeth thing.

And above all of this, I do also realize that I'm complaining about a freebie being reduced. I remember a time before BHs. Shards are better than no bonuses, but if suddenly started giving you $5 every day and then one day dropped that to $4, even though I once gave you nothing you would probably be a little irked.

Oh, I wasn't asking you to do that. That *should* be a no brainer for d3go to be doing.

On the list of No Brainers for D3 is "better roster management" and I've seen no appreciable improvements there.

Dang - I wish they'd expose some kind of web service API so i could write code to just connect directly to my account.
