Being a Hellboy fan is easy. You get the numerous ongoing series that come with exceptional success, you get the movie (and even a sequel) with both Guillermo Del Toro AND Rob Perlman, but you don't get the saturation or decreased quality that come with extreme popularity because Mike Mignola won't let anybody touch his stuff (or at least not many people).
I'm hoping the Del Toro-helmed Incredible Hulk series leads to some kind of gamma renaissance!

I also agree that the fanboys tend to sour my taste for character. I refuse to read any Venom, Punisher or Spawn series because of the fanboys that those characters attract.
Although I did read Punisher when he was Franken-Castle just because that storyline made so many of the fanboys irate. It was fun trying to sell them on the idea just hear them piss and moan.
That story made me irate, but not exactly for the same reason as everyone else.
I want these clixed: Doc Savage, Fu Manchu, Tarzan, The Shadow, The Green Hornet & Kato, Conan, Solomon Kane, The Phantom, King Kong, Universal Monsters, Black Orchid, Manhunter (Paul Kirk), Xemnu the Titan, unclixed Kirby Fourth World characters, and Lilith, Daughter Of Dracula.
Ugh. Went to an ATM to get money for takeout for lunch. Withdrew $10 (after paying the $2 transaction fee) and the machine spit out a wadded up left half of a $10 that got stuck in the little door. I took down the phone number of the bank that the ATM was from and tried a different one (this time with a $3 transaction fee), got my $10, and immediately following that a message popped up on the screen of the second ATM that said "out of service". So I just payed $25 for my $10, and I get to enjoy being on hold later when I try to get reimbursed.
Then they charge you a fee for reimbursing you. lol
I remember when a certain bank I used when I first moved to California "lost" my account. I go to the ATM, put in my card...spits the card back out with an error message. I try it two more times, same thing. I figure it's just a glitch. So, the next day (during business hours) I try it again...same thing. I go inside the bank and they tell me that they can't "find" my account. I said my paycheck was just deposited 3 days ago so they had better try harder to "find" it. Long story short, after about two hours in the bank they figure out the error on their side and I now have access to my account again and go about my business. Flash forward two weeks later when I get my statement. I see a $35 "service" charge. I call them to find out what the heck this charge is for and find that they charged me for "account maintenance" on the day that I had them fix my account that they screwed up in the first place! And that's when I went ballistic. Took me another 20 minutes, but I got the $35 reversed. The bank I used was eventually absorbed by Bank of America...which did the EXACT SAME THING to me about 6 months after the buy-out (except they charged me $30...which took me longer to get back).

I still need to check that out. When I heard about it I was just thinking "Uh...why?" Didn't seem to make sense to me or be a particularly exciting premise.

But I feel their pain. Really I do. I have to listen to that auto-tuney poppy crap when I'm teaching my private lessons. I've installed portable speakers in my teaching jacket and I drown it out with The Clash and KMFDM and stuff, but too much of it still gets by in between songs and stuff and it's just painful.
Maybe I need a teaching jacket...
Actually probably not. Because there's rarely a reason for me to not have headphones on.

I'm not morally opposed to it the way I'm opposed to iCarly or anything, but I just don't 'get' it.
What's not to get? How much of it have you seen? Some episodes are better than others, but like 50% of it is great. The appeal basically is that it's a cartoon version of Dungeons And Dragons, but with John Dimaggio and adorable animation.

I know. And it's probably going to be too much effort to go through for less than $10, but I don't really feel like letting them win, so I'd just as soon waste their time and mine and win a moral victory.

I like plenty of things despite the fans. I don't see how letting what other people like or dislike should bother me, except to turn me on to somehting I hadn't considered before.
Edit: With the caveat that random people hating on my stuff in an unsolicted manned generally irks me-- as in, who asked you?
I'm in agreement with the first paragraph. There are some things that I like or have liked where many/some of the people who are fans of it are generally idiots, but not too many. I don't let that get in the way of me liking it, but I also tend to keep a low profile about it when I do.
The song 9th Grade really threw me for a loop when I first heard it because I really DID like Duran Duran, but I had known better than to let anyone know about it.
But I can certainly sympathize with people who are bothered and annoyed by constantly being bombarded by something and then they find out I like it and use me as a target for their frustration. Who asked them? All kinds of ad campaigns, rabid fans. I do my best to let them know that I liked said thing before it was popular or that there are things about it that are really cool that they haven't experienced because the average fan (like the average human) is just a moron.
Cause it meant that I'd probably see a frikkin' Frankencastle clix figure before I got my Mike Ploog inspired monster of Frankenstein.
The Frankencastle idea itself was lame but I knew it would go away.

Love this parody of the original comercials. Even better in this forum since among the "controversial" topics is a Chicago hotdog.
Your evil knows no bounds.
I listened to "country" music waiting for something of substance or some good parody of the "hotdog debate" (There IS not debate! Matter can neither be created nor destroyed; Ketchup does not belong on hot dogs.) and I got subjected to several images that steel wool won't scrape out of my mind's eye.
