I was talking about the people who won. Although out of curiosity, what was your team?
Mine was a generic robot keyword. All the fun stuff that happened that night can be found here. As for the other IG tournament, that team consisted of Legion of Super Heroes with Sunboy and Earthman as main cannons along with Brainiac 5, Matter Eater Lad.
Sorry I didn't see your response, kind of got swallowed up back there. Props to Vlad for quoting it. And for smacking down IG teams.
The universe will break. Shut the engines down. Everyone you love dies. Fight to save everything.
I'll weigh in my two cents on the whole Hulk/Batman dial complaint since that's the theme of every one of tonight's links. Here it is...
I don't care. Not that I don't like Heroclix. I love the game and many of its players. Its just that comic books and their characters are too amorphous to pin down in concrete dial form. I feel bad for Wizkids on this front. They'll never please everyone.
Take for instance Spider-Man. I love me some compact 40 point Universe Spider-Man that I can sneak into a team nearly anywhere. But I'd also like to one day have a 300 point Spider-Man that can take on all of the Sinister Six at once and win as he did often in the books I read as kid. Its a miniature game, things should be flexible. But there is definitely room in the game for a Spider-Man anywhere from 40 pts to 300 pts.
On a similar vein, I also love me some Monopoly. But I've never ranted at Parker Brothers over the idea that a Scotty dog is just as fast as a race car.
That being said I do feel there should be one single hard fast rule in this game. Characters that can't break walls in a story book shouldn't have a 3+ damage. Here's where real world physics intrudes on the game. After that, as long as the powers are a close facsimile, I'm cool with it.
Now I do feel Wizkids inadvertently feeds into the argument by producing numerous similar variations of the same character in short periods of time. Getting one Hulk per set that doesn't meet one particular segment's ideal is way less egregious to the masses than seeing four or five similar versions of the same character with a year.
When you get a character like Batman who's seen numerous changes to design and motive over 70+ years of story arcs, Batman is going to mean something different to everyone. One guy is going to want a beefy body armored Nolan Batman, one guy wants the very human Marshall Rogers Batman. I want a smiley happy 60's Batman duo with a Dick Grayson Robin and I want a Crazy Quilt for them to fight. We're all right. All of Batmans are equally important.
And when we get one Batman a year, buying blind and not getting "our" Batman is a lot more stomach-able than buying five Batmans and not getting "our" Batman.
Some people are complaining about Batman. Some people are complaining about Hulk. But you know what... no one but me is complaining about The Bouncer!
Come on! Where is this guy???? Born with mutant legs, his mom makes him take up ballet. The other kids pick on him so he turns to a life of crime and fights Wonder Woman. This is terrific! Gimme this low point thug with some CCE, leap/climb and some auto knockback. And the nice thing is, the complainy masses won't ***** about his dial as they won't know who he is. Its a win/win!
Just for the record, I vowed to not use the gauntlet for our last IG event and beat teams that did use it.
And I did.
So while the gauntlet is overpowered, it doesn't automatically win the game.
Oh yeah, so did I and so did I. I didn't mean to imply that you literally can't lose with a gauntlet on your team, but that you basically can't lose if you just run away and turtle until you get to special power three. That takes some effort, unless you get lucky and it happens on turn four.
I've never seen someone running the gauntlet lose if they get a chance to clear even onto the second special power unless their opponent is also using the gauntlet. Doesn't happen every game, but it does happen often enough. I have seen plenty of gauntlet teams lose, probably self-evidently, but that doesn't change the fact that I have zero patience left for it.

I haven't used the Legion since Legion Lost came out. Must do that this weekend. Possibly at both games I'm attending.

Where have you been anyway? Muncho and I were down at Clixathon for the weekend. What's your excuse?

As scary as it is to see that phrase coming from Wade, he's actually not making that up.

Not quoting the whole post due to length, but I totally agree with you.

Didn't realize you guys were waiting on a play by play.
Went to a movie with her on Wednesday, since I was out of town for the weekend. Going to see her again this weekend.

In game 2 of my event, I was playing against your favorite piece ever, wielding the gauntlet. He tried to run and turtle, but I chased him down and bludgeoned him into ko, even after he got to apotheosis approaching. Sure, that's just one bit of anecdotal evidence, but it does show that it can be done, even if it's not frequently done.

No, and that is a post that I will never make on Facebook. Some things just don't need to be said in a public forum, and that's one of them.

The point is that whether or not I get laid will not be posted to facebook. I don't think that particular detail needs to appear in anyone's news feed, least of all those of the family members I'm friends with on there.
