Not to get, in my case. Like the "Back to the Future" trilogy, the Jurassic Parks seem to be on permanent play when it comes to cable TV. At the time that the first movie came out, the CGI dinos blew me away. Many years later, they are still fun films to watch, but not ones that I need to own in the collection. Just my perspective, thassall.
I used to be one of those people who bought every movie I remotely liked and would be super proud of my collection. Then the industry made my collection obsolete by doing away with VHS. That changed my view quite a bit. I started gettign a good number of DVD's but was choosey. Now even if I love the movie, I'm hesitant because how many times will I watch it, realistically? Will it be worth the money? I've actually started saving my money and just renting the movies I'd like to see.

Yeah, pretty much this. I used to own tons of videos, which I eBayed as soon as I switched to DVD. Now I own a bunch of DVD's that I hardly watch and am making the transition to Blu-ray. I still buy the occasional DVD (or DVD/Blu-ray combo pack), but that is mostly for the kids' movies. (We have a DVD player in my wife's van and the movies come in handy for long drives.) In the end, it comes down to storage space. Too bad that a bunch of movies that I paid good prices for I couldn't sell for a buck a DVD....

Yes, kids movies are the exception. We have quite a few seasons of certain cartoons like TMNT, Thundercats, Exo Squad, He-Man, Teen Titans Go and X-Men. The kids love them.
Heh. Last Christmas my wife bought me a DVD storage unit that we have since filled up with the kids' movies. At last count, they had more than 100. Just the Disneyand Pixar collections are formidable. The good news is that the movies do get watched over and over again so at least there we are getting our money's worth...
(As for me, I wind up missing a bunch of movies in the theater. Lately I have been catching up with Thor, Captain America, Cars 2, etc. Best Buy coupons are good friends of mine! )

Waitaminute - ExoSquad is on DVD? Aww, man. It's only the first season? I've got most of those on laserdisc already. If they did the complete series as a box set, I'd be all over that in a heartbeat.
Hey! if i want to promote "FurbyFrank's Dress for Success" super store and our pre turkey sale, (gobble up the savings folks!), that's my perogative! ;P

I would be, too. For a cartoon, it had such depth.
I recently sold most of my DVDs at a pawn shop, got a fair amount of bank back for them. Mainly because I 1. had them on Bluray or 2. had them on Netflix streaming. So 3. whatever.

Indeed - questions of free will, the definition of consciousness as it applies to artificial intelligence, the morality of "playing god" with genetics. And a massive body count to boot. You certainly didn't have the GI Joe tradition of seeing deployed parachutes every time a jeep drove off a cliff.

Also, the toys were pretty fantastic.
I got into it years later so I never got into the toys, but they looked cool. Definitely not a Filmation or Sunbow feel to the cartoon though. I completely agree there.
