For the record though, I don't think that's the case with you specifically, SLVR. I assume you've been with comics long enough to know what's what. But again, it was my immediate impulse.
You are correct. I've been around the comic book block.

Yay, a new topic! I was growing weary of the old one.
It's funny because I am the complete opposite with music as I am with comic book/geek stuff. I will listen to what I want when I want to and I don't give a crap what you or anybody else thinks about it. My tastes are my tastes and that is none of your concern. I need not apologize for my music the same as nobody else has to apologize for theirs.
By the way, this rant is not directed at anybody in particular.
Taylor Swift fans and Myley Cyrus fans owe me an apology.
My 15 month old grandaughter just figured out how to climb up on top of the coffee table and dance. I don't whether to be appalled or laugh my ### off.
I want these clixed: Doc Savage, Fu Manchu, Tarzan, The Shadow, The Green Hornet & Kato, Conan, Solomon Kane, The Phantom, King Kong, Universal Monsters, Black Orchid, Manhunter (Paul Kirk), Xemnu the Titan, unclixed Kirby Fourth World characters, and Lilith, Daughter Of Dracula.
Most football fans have horrid memories of the My Country/Chevy truck commercials running every 3 minutes during every game for 2-3 seasons a few years back.

When I have sushi, I don't get a "drink". I ask for water with lemon. I don't use any of the wasabi and I don't make the little wasabi/soy soup. I'm there for the taste of the sushi. Many of the rolls have condiments in them that are designed to accentuate different tastes. But the chef chooses those for specific purposes. I put myself "in his hands" when I eat sushi. Putting condiments on his sushi would be an insult to him.
I'm not a steak eater for the most part. I look at it as just another piece of beef. But I do know better than to put ketchup on steak.
Granted, steak is a red meat, and ketchup accentuates the taste of red meat. However, there are certain cuts where the taste of the meat is supposed to stand on it's own.
If you're really interested, do some taste testing. A small amount of mustard goes a long way in accentuating the taste of white meats and smoked meats.
A little ketchup goes a long way in accentuating the taste of red meats.
They also "cover up" the taste of the opposite meats.
This is why ketchup doesn't belong on a hot dog. While it's true that most hot dogs are now made from red meat and not white, it's still flavored to mimic the taste of real hot dogs and therefore the taste is brought out better with mustard.
Ah, alright, I can dig that.
On the other hand, I see condiments as part of the flavor. With sushi, for example, I LOVE wasabi. I generally love any/all spicy food, come to that. I can't think sushi without thinking wasabi, as...well...wasabi's delicious (IMO)!
But I get the overall point.

Right now she's sitting on her butt and scooching around in circles.

Ketchup was my hero on liver night when I was a kid.

In a similar vein, I ABHOR the term "guilty pleasure."
When I mention that I watch pro wrestling, the main response I get (aside from "Isn't it all fake?", which I flat-out LOVE debunking) is "Well we all have our guilty pleasures."
To which I say "In order to have a guilty pleasure one must feel guilty about that which gives them pleasure."
Now are there some things I think people SHOULD feel guilty about? Yes. Anyone who regularly watches "The Real Housewives of #####ville" or whatever, for example, is directly responsible for talentless, conniving, vapid a-holes having a job, and is thus contributing to the downfall of American society. That said, I wouldn't insinuate that it is something about which someone should feel guilty. I WOULD ask what about that crap is so compelling.

My sushi place has a roll called Ninja Turtle.
The base is an inside out roll with eel and crunch. Draped over the top (like a rainbow roll) is shrimp and avocado. That is topped off with wasabi mayo, teriyaki sauce and the green fish eggs.
Thing. Of. Beauty.
Wasabi mayo and teriyaki sauce are two condiments that actually accentuate each other. You can just eat the two alone and it's great.
But, to be technical, wasabi does best with white meats like the shrimp (if you'll count that as a white meat) in the roll. It's like horseradish or mustard. It really doesn't do much for red meats, but if you're looking for something as a vehicle for wasabi, just about anything will work.
Chid, when are you going to weigh in here on the food stuff?
I'm in the mood for some scary video games, what with it being nearly Hallow'en. I haven't even made a dent in my movie recommendations pile because I can't get anyone around who wants to watch anything with me, but I can play video games by myself.
I own a PS2, a Gamecube, and a DS. I've been told to pick up Silent Hill 2. Anyone got any other (reasonably common) scary games that I can play with those platforms? I'm going to stop by a few used game places on the way home.

Indeed. Ketchup is the sledgehammer of the culinary world, eliminating most tastes that it comes into contact with.
The few times that my mother DID serve liver, I did notice that a small amount of ketchup actually made it taste WORSE (bring out the flavor) but copious amounts just tasted like ketchup.
Mustard would have worked better, but who can eat straight mustard?

That sounds greeeeeeat. I love me some eel. I had some cheap eel rolls for dinner on Sunday and it was great.
