So... a lot of you nerds here are secretly connected to Wizkids.
I need to contact the muckety-muck at Wizkids in hopes of getting some prize support out of them for a big event I am running as a protest against Magic the Gathering at my venue.
Who do I contact?
So you want to hear more?
Ok!
So for about a year or two now, our venue has been bumping Heroclix for Magic on Saturdays when MTG has a new set dropping. Typically, MTG gets Friday nights at the venue and we get Saturday mornings/afternoon.
What irks me about this is that the Heroclix players are all big spenders and most of us buy a healthy amount of comics at our venue. The MTG crowd are mostly only MTG players. Heroclix has been a staple at the shop for over ten years and MTG is about two years old at our venue.
The MTG crowd are pretty sloppy too. They never clean up or bath. Typically the place is a mess after they leave on Friday night.
So anywho, the venue has agreed to letting the clix players have the Friday night gaming spot when Magic for some reason needs to bump us out of Saturday.
So enter my idea for Friday night gaming...
Formalclix! The best dressed night of gaming.
The idea is that us Heroclix players show just how dapper Friday night gaming can be.
Five trophies have been purchased.
Best Dressed Gamer
Best Smelling Gamer
Most Dapper Team
1st Place
2nd Place
Thinking three rounds... 400 Point No Tactics Event. Teams should have at least someone dressed in a suit or gown.
Voting for best dressed gamer, best smelling gamer, most dapper team.
We're getting tablecloths, electronic candles. Sparkling cider in plastic champagne glasses. bigbob is in charge of finding us a violinist.
Anyway... I wanted to see if Wizkids wants in on the extravaganza.
Train, the sappy poprock band, mislead me into buying their 1st album. The first song I heard of theirs was "They Call Me Free" or whatever it was titled, and it is a great song. I figured most of their stuff would be in a similar vein.
It was not, nor has it been ever since. I still love that track, but it was a wasted CD purchase.

I love this idea. I'd actually go play HeroClix to take part in this.
