Pulled Chase "Dusk" and yet another Man-Thing/Howard the Duck SR today playing a friendly game at the competitor's venue! I won the silver armor Spidey (ASM54) for $20 and am a few minutes from a Prodigy for less than $16. My goal was to get this set for cheapies, or just to skip a few if I couldn't get them easily.
Doubtful I'll ever even play these Spidey Slinger figs, but as long as they come easily, I guess I'll complete 'em.
Yikes! Tough beats on both of those! That 4th Jack must have felt like being kick in the nuts with a steel-toed boot... that was covered in lava.
That pretty much sums it up. The 4th Jack cost me $175,000 in chips, and the pot was closer to $400K. The guy who beat me ended up winning the event, so there is that tiny consolation.
The entry fee of $125 starts you with 10K in chips.
On Sunday my pocket Queens (trips on the Flop) lost to a Straight Flush.
On Monday my Pocket Aces (trips on the Flop) lost to 4 Jacks on the River.
Since I don't really play poker, I may have this wrong, but...don't you win some games and lose some games and just hope to walk away with more money than you went in with? Or is it winner take all? Did you win some money? Did you have fun?

I've played poker before. You have to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away, and know when to run.
Oh, and you never count your money when you're sittin' at the table. There's time enough for counting when the dealing's done.

Sounds like he was playing in a tournament. There may have been cash for top three but he probably didn't place.
Catering to the lowest common denominator since Feb 2003.
Norym, does this insult earn your seal of approval?
Barely, sounds a lot like an ebay joke about collectables...

Correct. The Sunday game paid the top 7 and the Monday paid the top 5. The payout is based on the number of entries.
There are all kinds of tournaments and cash games, and the rules and payouts/cashouts vary between hotels.
I have finished in the money in 5 out of the 9 tournaments I have played in so overall I am up. (Never 1st though) It is a fun and educational experience. I think with a bit (lot) more practice I could play for a living, but finding someone to sponsor me for a year while I learned to read people better would be tough. I can already do the probabilities, but sometimes that 4th Jack with a 3% chance still pops up.
Well, for you and Harpua it should be fairly obvious.
Clearly you've never actually played a game of Clix against Harpua.
No white text, that was actually a serious comment. He is a really good judge, but sometimes when he actually plays, he completely forgets how HeroClix works. He and I have had some hilariously bad games in terms of us screwing up rules stuff.

I think we all have those games.
Or maybe only I have those games and am projecting my mental lapses onto the rest of you.
