Is anyone else completed un-excited about Man of Steel? This is the first big comic book movie I seem to be feeling nothing for. And I *loved* Superman Returns.
But this one... blah.
Nah, I feel pretty much the same way. Still probably gonna go see it next weekend, though.
I found Brandon Routh to be excellent in it, and the special effects were top notch. Loved the plane/stadium scene. I even liked Kevin Spacey totally hamming it up.
Even the kid was entertaining.
My only problems were the treatment of Kryptonite, under-utilizing Kal Penn... and horrible casting of Kate Bosworth.
*shrug* It's been a while since I've seen it, perhaps it wouldn't be a good now, but at the time, I ranked it up with Spider-Man and X2.
But... nothing happened in that movie. Superman was a distant god-figure that stalked women and little children. Lex Luthor had a real-estate scam going which was only slightly different from the way it was from the first movie. And this time Cyclops lost his woman to someone who was even more stiff than he was (as opposed to the X-Men movies where the guy was the complete opposite of him).
I like Routh, Spacey and Marsden, they have all made good movies, but Superman Returns was just too distant to work.
Man of Steel looks promising, as the trailers seem like they are focusing on some of the problems found in Superman Returns. Not sure if I'm going to see it at the theaters, but I'm definitely going to see it.

Oddly enough, Man of Steel does not look promising. However, I am getting the feeling I got before X-Men First Class. Looked pretty weak based on previews, but turned out solid. And I can't discount Christopher Nolan. If he can appropriately reign in Zack Snyder's heightened effects tendencies, this could be fantastic.
So I didn't get the job I interviewed for yesterday - it went to someone with more experience. Not a big deal as I wasn't thrilled about commuting.
On the other hand it seems like my current employer is looking to hire more people, and that is obviously dang good news for me.
