My kids have been listening to "Word Crimes" pretty much nonstop, and now the couple of mistakes that Al makes it grate on me a lot.
I've only listened to it once or so.
It's one of those Al songs where he makes it clever and maybe even shares a view of mine, but the source material is so bad that it makes it difficult to listen to.
And even Phoebe Cates couldn't save Gremlins. I certainly have no urge to watch the sequel.
You haven't seen the sequel??
Seriously, give it a go.
It's the only movie that MSTies it's own series and itself.
TOTALLY different flavor from the first.
The original was on last night and we watched a large portion of it. I certainly can't defend it. I'm not saying it's bad . . . okay, wait, I think I am saying its bad. Maybe I'm saying it's bad that I can tolerate, but it's a different kind of bad that I can tolerate from The Rock and Con Air.
Since you obviously have no love for Gremlins, I'm interested in your take on The Last Starfighter.
Maybe you guys are watching Gremlins at the wrong time of the year. Like Die Hard, Gremlins is a Christmas movie. Watch it during the holidays to maximize your enjoyment.

'S funny you say that.
I just found Lethal Weapon already in progress.
What was with the 80s and action movies based around Christmas time?
EDIT: I'm no Elvis fan by any stretch of the imagination, but, DEAR GOD, why did they interrupt "I'll be home for Christmas" to play that awful "Lethal Weapon" song during the credits?
Tonight's Svengoolie movie is The Creature Walks among us with Jeff Morrow and Rex Reason who were in This Island Earth together. During the character bio sequence, he mentions that Jeff Morrow was in This Island Earth, but doesn't list it as one of Rex Reason's movies.
Svengooliefail.
Also, I want a scale Interociter to use as a Heavy Object in Clix.
I'm entertained by the Ooga Chaka (Jonathan King) version of Hooked On A Feeling being included in the GotG commercials. Does anyone know if I can expect to hear it in the movie itself?
EDIT: Some time on Wiki has revealed that the song will be in the movie along with "Escape (The Pina Colada Song)" and I am now REALLY excited about this movie.
EDIT x 2: Some of the songs are ones I'd never heard. The Raspberries sound a lot like KISS and The Runaways look like they gave Madonna and Joan Jett some good material to rip off.

Joan Jett was a Runaway, so she would be ripping herself off.
Havenfail.
I am stoked for cheesey 70's poprock being on the GotG soundtrack. It gives the movie a Sam Jones Flash Gordon vibe that makes me happy.
I blame my predictive keyboard, that suggests likely next words. Sometimes I hit "space" by mistake and accept them without noticing.

This is not the case with CNR.
What are Al's mistakes?
"Never raised in a sewer" should be "not raised in a sewer."
He says "one thing I ask of you" and then just makes a series of statements with no request.

I don't think I've seen it, or maybe on TV half watching.

I really hate this, I doubt the time of year matters. I saw it in the theaters, it didn't help then. The movie was bad but the story about the dad in the chimney took it to the point where it's just mockable.
