I'd like to hear some Ogres' opinions on venues breaking the street date to sell things on ebay early. My thoughts are in this thread.
I resell for my venue on ebay. We would never break street date. In fact, tonight I am getting everything ready to be listed at 12AM tomorrow morning. Also, we never sell LEs or prize support material (as per the agreement).
There are people who hate the idea of the secondary market, period, and when people do stuff like this it just feeds the 'stereotype'. I don't understand the hate, personally. I have always had to use the secondary market to obtain...something...all along. Without it, you really can't be a completetist.
The new Captain America HeroClix set is coming out!!! I'm going to put my Cap shirt and hat on, get a Captain America Collotta from Dunkin Donuts, and spend the day sorting the new Clix!!! I'm in my nerd glory here!!!

Happy Pre-Cap day to everyone! I won't be buying any myself but there are several comics coming out tomorrow that I'm excited for. War of the Green Lanterns will wrap up tomorrow and I can't wait to see how it ends and sets everything up for after the reboot.
It's like Michael Jordan going to the YMCA to play basketball.
Welcome Charlie (Charles William Cook)! Born 7/14/2011!
And the Jerry Damage figures will finally get to see some playtime tonight as I have a buddy and my brother coming over to hang out. Jerry Damage will finally start his KO list!

When has MLB not been tainted? I think that happened around the time Cal Ripken Jr. retired. Coincidentally the same time I stopped caring about baseball.
MLB has the strictest drug policy and the lowest rate of player arrested/in trouble with the law out of all the 4 major sports. It also has the highest rate of players that give back to charity. To say it's "tainted", is kinda wrong. Granted, the 90's steroid era hurt the game, but baseball has learned more from it's mistakes than any other sport.

When B&tB came out, I reported a venue per the request of Justin Ziran. I went so far as to go into the venue and sneak pictures of the prize kits the store was selling because Ziran said that was the proof needed for them to take action. Well, this same venue continued to sell OP kits from WoS, DC 75th, GSX, and now Captain America. Until Wizkids starts doing something, and the responsibility is squarely on them, I'm just not going to care anymore.
Do I like that people do it? Absolutely not! Most of the people who are breaking street date and selling OP kits seem to be slugs. At the same time, I hold no ill will against the people who buy the product. They aren't breaking any rules, it's the ones doing the selling. So until Wizkids starts enforcing their own wishes, the best the we can do as good little Heroclix consumers is to not do business with those stores or individuals that break street date and sell OP kits.
No, I don't want to be dead. Just being melodramatic. I'm exhausted and highly stressed out. I need some sort of break from life. Unfortunately, my planned vacation is not until October.
In other news, I was informed by my insurance company yesterday that my car is in fact totaled. On the plus side, he told me that since the other driver was ticketed there is no way his company can dispute it and thus must accept responsibility for it. Now I am still waiting for the other company to assess the vehicle, but I doubt that they will want to repair it. The frame is massively damaged, and it can likely only be corrected through a "hack and slash" approach which will compromise the safety of the vehicle.

so I get to go car shopping this weekend.
Last year when my car was totaled, the insurance company gave me more than the value of the car. That was pretty fun! So hopefully you'll get a good amount out of the car to put toward a new one.

I once did an "underhanded" tactic to help out Wizkids. There was someone on the trade forums trying to trade away the Icons LEs a month before they were scheduled for release. I made the trade with the guy, then I submitted all of his information and the pieces to Wizkids. They not only revoked the judge of his status, they rewarded me for my efforts.

My thoughts on it are that the people who buy before the street date are just as much to blame. "So, I can buy this from you 2 days early and pay you double what it's going to be worth? DEAL!!!" In 3 months, will it truly matter that you were able to get an LE a week or 3 days before the set came out? Nope, and all that will happen is you'll have less money in your pocket for the same product that people will get for a lot less. *I'm not saying you specifically but you in general.

The rapid decline of "worth" of these figures so shortly after they are released make me glad I haven't been buying again. I should really look into selling my old stuff since I do nothing with it and could really use the money. I wonder how much I could get for a whole set of Infinity Challenge LEs... It would probably yield more if I sold them individually.

That sounds like the people who are foolish enough to buy early are already getting their dues. They pay out the nose then watch the prices fall. That's good enough for me.
If the game continues to grow and get stronger, I'm sure Wizkids will eventually start enforcing their sale rules...hopefully. I wonder what has changed since K-ness helped them vs. when I tried helping them?
