Basically, I have the Breen deflectors and the Reman shield display. WITNESS ME BREEN-BAGS! WITNESS!!!
That's the Thrai old-school Dreadnought, btw, got it out of a lockbox. My TOS-Fed is using the T5 Cruiser they gave away for the 7th anniversary... which isn't quite bang enough to get me through some of the later scenarios. I might have to open a few lockboxes on her just to see if I can get lucky with a ship.
You should be able to do any mission with a T5 ship. You might need to look at your Boff and Doff abilities, as well as maximizing your consoles. I recommend an AUX2Bat build on your Cruiser.
Also make sure you've adjusted your energy levels.

Maybe. I know one of the Romulan missions I asked for help just because the Elachi were taking forever to kill - this was before I got the Thrai (like, without the help, I think it would have taken 4 hours for that complete fight.)
Then again, I'm more of a Romulan than a Fed anyway.

I've been meaning to download it since it came to console just haven't gotten around to it. I still can't play "real" games on the PC and even if I did, I think I'd be so far behind the rest of the player base in regards to premium loot ####, I'd be bored.

Not on STO. You mainly solo missions/quests and team up for PvE and PvP events. I know of people who use only standard ships in PvP, and are still able to compete.

I assumed there's a "theoretical" pay wall after a point, if you can do all of the solo stuff without hitting it then that's cool.
MMORPG's are sneaky, that's why I try to avoid them. But I need a sci fi fix until Mass Effect comes out.
Unless you play PvP the only reason to spend real money in STO is because something looks fun. I've spent maybe $20 over the course of the last five years.

Yeah, I basically spent for a subscription because I'm enjoying it. Also, I might actually invest in the lifetime thing for all the neat toys. Investment, yes, but I don't buy many games anymore anyway and this one is definitely holding my interest.

I'm a fan of the Romulans, but I saw you're the Romulan Republic not the Romulan Empire, which is a shame if you're not a splinter group of the Empire trying to start a revolution.
I really don't like Klignons (Romulan sensibilities I guess), so I probably won't bother with them unless there's reason to.
I know with these MMORPGs that give you different options for starting characters that it's kind of pointless to play multiple toons for storyline cus the first 15 levels are fetch-em missions.

You'll have 4 starting character slots 1) Federation ; 2) Romulan Republic ; 3) Klingon ; 4) Original Series. The tutorial is ridiculously long and can't be skipped. That being said about 8 hours of play should get you to level 10. Once you hit level 10 things progress much more smoothly.
There aren't really hunt and fetch missions. It's way different from any other MMO which is why I like it. Klingons have the weakest story. Romulans probably the most interesting. Romulan ships have the least variety, but they are incredibly fun to fly. Federation ships have the most variety. I haven't finished the Roumlan story line yet, so I can't comment on how it goes too much. I've run a couple of Fed characters. One is at level cap. The other is close, and only about 2/3rds through the story content.

Basically, remember in the JJ Abrams Trek where it's 2401 and the supernova took out the Romulan homeworlds?
Yeah, that happened.
So you basically start as part of the Romulan Republic, trying to exist free of Empress Sela and the Tal Shiar-dominated remnants of the Romulan Star Empire. It's probably the most fun so far, and I've played the TOS one also (which is entertaining, but not as much fun as the Romulans.)
I do have it on the XB1, but the console version is really dumbed down compared to the PC. Of course, you might be able to run this game on the PC (Remember, it IS 7 years old...)

Yeah, my PC is fine, I just can't play space games on PC, my brain is hardwired for controller I guess.
Well you can use a controller on the PC, but I wouldn't recommend it. I have 3 1/2 trays of commands I use in space combat. I can't imagine trying to map out more than 35 commands on a controller - and that didn't even count movement and during main weapons.

So downloaded it both for PC and PS4. Control scheme is just too complex for what I'm used to on PC, I guess I'll play the dumb down version, but I'm really only playing for the storyline and experience.
Oh and I'm Romulan \o/
Biggest thing I like is that, at least the early levels, are pretty tightly focused. I remember in SWTOR there was a quest every 5 feet in opening level, giving you so much to do early is overwhelming when learning the game.
Anyone interested in joining one of the Heroclix Fantasy Leagues here on the Realms, now is a great time. The FLE will be starting a reboot. Draft begins within the next 24 hrs or so. It's a great way to play clix if you don't have a local venue available.

Redownloaded STO and boy am I lost. Spent 2-3 hours trying to figure out the UI to no avail. I am not sure where to get quests or even how to complete them. I'm guessing my gear sucks due to power creep so I'd like to do easy content. I'm Maj@maj if someone can render some advise just let me know when you're gonna be on and we can coordinate.
