Tchid-- seems odd that your opinion on the food is based on what they label it. Would it not simply be good/bad/cheap/expensive? I don't really care what's authentic, just what tastes good, doesn't cost too much, and nourishes me.
Think of it this way if it helps.
Haven studied Tolkien. Spent a lot of time getting to know it because it meant something to him.
Does he get pissed when someone calls something Tolkien and it really isn't? Does he spend his money on it? Does he promote it to others?
Now realize that I spent years of my life studying cuisines and learning to respect them. Same thing, different genre.
Ewww. Yeah, that's nasty. My sister would do it with her Mac n cheese as well. Just gross.
See?
You guys are listing all these horrible nasty things (and rightfully so) and I see it as just as disgusting when I see someone put ketchup on a hot dog.
Or worse yet, breaded chicken.
LISTEN UP CRETINS OF EARTH: JUST BECAUSE SOMETHING IS BREADED AND FRIED DOES NOT MEAN KETCHUP SHOULD GO ON IT!
Quick version: would you call any of the following "fake?"
-A performance of "Twelfth Night" (or any play)
-A ballet
-A primetime crime procedural
-A book
Chances are no, you wouldn't, as they're all just storytelling media. Ditto pro wrestling.
As for the "authenticity" of the matches, yes, the outcomes are entirely pre-determined. What goes on from bell to bell, however, is not. The bumps/injuries/hazards are VERY real, and there is an art to being able to tell a great story within the confines of a now 20-minute match (used to be closer to an hour).
