I believe he said he picked six people to send a small assortment of cards to, some of them with rounded corners and some not. As you were one of the people who'd already seen some of them he probably skipped you in favor of someone who would be seeing them for the first time.
He wanted to get our reactions to the quality, comments on how the differences affected us, whether we sincerely thought that $.75 each or $.55 each for five or more was a price we'd be comfortable with, and also when we received them so he could get a better read on how quickly these would travel with first class postage.
Thank you, sir.
All I know is: if he makes ATA cards available for under a buck, I'm on board, you betcha!!
Tim Burton was right: "A square jaw does not a Batman make." Steve Buscemi as the next Batman! Luke Perry as Joker! Let's make it happen!
I think in today's game, I'd say either Nightcrawler or Cosmic Spider-man is the most hated figure. Kind of makes me dislike Web of Spider-man for having two such controversial figures. Back when he came out, I'm sure E-2 was hated, but today I think people are much more focused on Nightcrawler.
Nightcrawler by a large margin, in my opinion. For some reason people don't have the good taste not to abuse him that they do with Spiderman. I have only ever seen him take ONE click of damage in any game I've ever played against him in, it was from a push, and he immediately healed it back.
I've never been to a tournament where 50%+ of teams had a Cosmic Spiderman. I have been to tournaments with that many Nightcrawlers, and I only see him getting stronger with most of the Ultimates characters retiring and wildcard teams becoming a lot less viable with Cypher out, weakening Superman Ally and Mystics as being some of the better ways of fighting him.
Oh dang. Somebody said "Nightcrawler" and I ranted. My bad. I redact nothing though. I really do dislike him.

Horsehockey. The only period in the history of Heroclix where that has been close to true was when Ye Olde Nightcrawler was fairly briefly dominant. At all other times, including now, the "best" are very inexpensive. Even Scarlet Witch, cheese staple of days past, was weirdly cheap for a Super Rare. Nightcrawler and Captain America are going for a bit more than is traditional for meta staples, but they're still not unobtainable, and if you can't afford them you can always religiously run the figures that hose them, which are very affordable.

To be honest I kinda like seeing nightcrawler or the supermen across the board from me. I enjoy being put to the test. Some of the most fun I've had was battling legacy ares or wildcards copying the FF ATA the way it used to work. Maybe it's just me but I get excited at the opportunity to take those figures on.
As far as using them goes I get affected by the guilt aspect people put out. Don't use this fig or that fig because they are cheese or broken. I'm just trying to have a good time and want other people to have a good time as well. As much fun as it would be to use those figures I can still have fun without them. It's still a little disappointing though.
I'll play against almost anything for the challenge of it, but if I'm going to set time aside and drive to a venue (with gas more than four bucks a gallon), I want to have some fun in return.
Since GSX, I've paid my dues in getting frustrated by a Madrox swarm team. It's the one thing that I KNOW I won't play against anymore. For me, there's simply no fun to be had there.

Ah Clobberin Time Nightcrawler. I remember pulling him back when I got started playing in tournaments. I think I put him on every team I had for like the next 2 months. Such a good piece during the early stage of the game. Not quite Firelord good, but still pretty good.

This actually sounds like fun to me. Did you see the thread a while back where somebody racked up over 1000 points against a madrox team? He kept making him bring in a madrox and would proceed to KO it right afterwards.

Agreed. I personally like playing against teams like that as it keeps me on my toes. The local venue banned all figures over 300 points though so I've never got to play CSM before.
As for my personal playstyle, it depends. If I'm playing locally, I will scale back my teams somewhat so that I'm not quite so cut throat. If I'm at Origins though, watch out cause I'm bringin da chedda.

I'm going to have to agree with KillerSavage here.
It sounds like it would be mad fun to play against a proper Madrox swarm.

I haven't played against CSM yet myself. I've only had one opportunity against nightcrawler as well. It's never good to hear about figures being banned. I guess some venues feel they have to do what they have to do.
As far as the convention tournaments go all bets are off. You need to be ready to see anything and lose any qualms about what figures to use. The trouble is that people play this way all the time.

Locally I try to be more laid back. I still build pretty effective teams, but I don't go nearly as bad as I could. I've played Nightcrawler a few times and played against him a few times as well. It depends on what the team is, but I'll either take him out early or just ignore him and get rid of everything else.
And as far as Cons go, the kiddie gloves come off then. We've got a few warm-up tournies and I'll play and build like I was at a Con.

When Clobberin' Time first came out I pulled three Nightcrawlers in one day out of less than 8 packs. I assumed he was the crap/easy to get piece out of the set as a result (I wasn't very bright in those days).
I traded one for a Titania U and a HT Catwoman U. It was a two for one deal, so I thought I was making out well in the deal. I can't remember what the other one went for. Probably something lame, though. All I know is that it wasn't but a few weeks later that Nightcrawler was going for between $80-$100 on ebay. I have made it my BUSINESS to know what my pieces are worth or COULD be worth ever since.

He's the only high dollar piece that I've held onto since it came out. Well, him, Jane Foster, and Ultimate Thor. Although the last two will say with me forever as they won me my Masterpiece Magento back in the day.
