Our call volume is low, so I'm hoping they ask for early releases. I will actually take them up on it. I'd hit the gym for a couple of hours and then head home since I have so much that I need to get caught up on.
Really? Shoot, we've always done it with the 1/2 points. I was figured the points were a way of keeping the field close, giving the lowest point player consistent points. I still like it better but am always a bit bothered when we do things the unofficial way.
I think there's merit to a lot of different ways of doing it. Where I play, we have such a small group that it usually doesn't matter anyway, but I do think that the biggest downside of the official method is that it "punishes" the player by preventing them from getting any points that round. Theoretically, that is offset by getting the guaranteed win.
I've heard of some venues giving the player with a bye a win with full victory points, and I don't like that. Players should want to play rather than want to sit out.
I think 50% victory points is a reasonable compromise between the two extremes.
I'm now interested in trying to research how byes are conducted among a large number of venues and see how that correlates with overall winners. I feel like the official Wizkids event system could be a good tool for this kind of research in the future.

We have always awarded the Bye Player with the Win and 50% of the possible points for the round.
We have found that it helps to keep the Bye players in the running, but they still rarely win. A Zero point victory would nearly ensure they never stood a chance.
Okay boys and girls. I have finished all my artwork prep for the LotR Print and Play Horde Token project. I have my prices together and this is how it's shaking out.
One full set of tokens will consist of:
8 Orcs
4 Uruk-Hai
4 Warg Riders
6 Riders of Rohan
4 Ithilien Rangers
4 Haldir's Archers
4 Eagle
6 Ent
4 Dead Man of Dunharrow
4 Mumakil
4 Orc Catapult
4 Mountain Troll
That's 56 tokens. There are a few extras in there above and beyond the M number, but in order to do things as efficiently as possible, I have to do them in even numbers.
For one full set of 52 tokens (plus one extra Eagle, Ent, Orc Catapult and Mountain Troll) I will be charging $25 + shipping.
$8 of that is non negotiable. I need $8 per set to cover my materials and tool costs. The other $17 can be paid for in cash or trades. But I will of course have final approval on all trade offers.
No mad rush to close the thread? POGS must not be as popular as Ogres. Then again, nothing really is.
It's because the person that names the next thread isn't chosen by whoever gets post #1000. I believe it is done by a ritual involving chicken blood, candles, and Barry White. I can't give specifics though.
Regarding the bye round issue, I currently give a win and zero victory points because that's the way the rulebook says to do it. I've also done an auto win and half victory points. I'm not really sure which is the best way though. We've never had an issue where a tournament came down to 2 players that were 3-0 and one of them had a bye round thus losing due to points. Just like someone could lose because they got zero points in a bye round, they could also win because they got half points in a bye round. I don't think there is a perfect way to do it.

That reminds me of my first time. *sigh* Those were the days, so young- so innocent...

We like to take things nice and easy as POGS, no rushing, pushing, shoving, or fighting here.

The starter of the last tread passes the torch along to another POG, and that chosen POG gets to name the next thread. Sox picked me, so I chose the next one.
Well, I guess it's time to start the new thread now!!!
