Ghost, sorry for getting into it with you - I simply disagree with your statement about medics.
The thread is about the new rules, and fig retirement.
While I understand keeping the game fresh & bringing in new players, I don't feel like WK is really being fair to the older WK players. We're already hooked, & we're GOING to buy the new stuff - why tell us we can't use the old?

This is a game BASED on comics. There is a strategy envolved. You are in a "fight" with the other person. Today's military use combat medics, so it is a valid tactic in "fights".

Use what knowledge you have and recall to me why would any Superman Run away from a fight, to go get healing from a medic.
Use what knowledge you have and tell me why I would not use a medic in a strategy game BASED on comics.

First off, a medic couldn't heal Superman, secondly he wouldn't leave a team to run away if he's getting beat.
First, a medic could he Superman. They could bind his wounds and they can dispense medications. Second, Superman has fallen back in a fight, just as alot of other charcters. In a strategy game it makes sense that if a figure can fall back then healing them is a good tactic.

You may be a balanced player, put balance is not using every possible exploit in the game. That is classified as cheese.
Again, ever person has their own definition of cheese. Rules are rules. Every has the same set of rules.

I don't really mind medics, except Jane Foster (only 'cause I don't have one) but your statement is wrong. No needle can penetrate Superman's skin. The speeds at which he moves would tear apart any bandages which I highly suspect would do carp for him anyway. Maybe Dr. Fate could heal Superman but no way in blazes a normal medic could do more than watch him die.
I thought this thread was to discuss the new tournament rules, morespecifically: Fig retirement.
Two pages into it, Brazil gets it mired into a "here's how and why we should change the rules" thread.... Again. (on that note, Has anyone else noticed that no matter how inane or off topic Brazil is, GentleGamer is there to back him up and help him keep the discussion inane and off topic?)
If noboday has any objections to me discussing fig retirement on this thread, I'll put in my two cents.
I'm disappointed to see figs get retired at all.
When I started playing (not too long ago really) I was happy opening ANY booster at all and looking for new figs...
Then I found the Retired list and saw how many of my figs I wasn't allowed to play at most sanctioned tournaments.
Then They retire two more sets.
Disappointing.
I wouldn't be as disappointed about figs being retired, IF they were being retired in conjunction with a rework of the same character coming out... then at least the character choices wouldn't drop away. But retireing them in sets like this... (while easier to keep track of), Seems more fiscally motivated than play motivated.
I guess I'm saying "Don't retire the Skrulls and FF unless you have new versions for me to play in the tourneys."
Not everyone wants to be limited to X-Men teams.

Superman does not always us HHS when fighting. Therefore bandages could still work in your theory. Also his suit could protect bandages in certain areas (abdomen). Also, not all medications are administered using needles but if Superman did have a cut, I would not need to penatrate the skins using the needle, it is already done.

I agree. This is the question I asked in the chat about retirement. (second question I believe). I asked if characters would come out in new sets before they were retired and the answer was "No, why would they". Or something like that.
[16:02] {KevinG} {MKelly67} Will there be plans to reproduce figures from a soon to be retired set in a new set before the old figures are retired?
[16:03] {JonL} I'm sure we'll be putting figures that have been retired into new sets, but I can't see any reason why we'd put those figures in a new set before they've been retired.

Seriously man, I don't care if you use a medic with Superman, the rules allow it. You can have a dozen con-artists too for all I care. But don't try to justify the comic-book reality of the situation. No medic could ever patch Superman up enough to have him ready to get back in the fight. In his big brawl with Doomsday he did not fly off to the local clinic and ask for a few bandages and fly back feeling 5 clix better. Doesn't happen. Use medics all you want but don't try to justify them. You used war as an example I think,if a guy gets shot, can a medic just bandage him up and send him back into the fight. No! But you claim they could do that for Superman. No way!

Hilarious.
"Why would they?" Perhaps because many have spent a lot of time and money putting together teams of characters that they wanted to play, and then you're pulling the rug out from under them...
Personally I think they waited for me to get my Xplosion and Clobberin time sets complete and timed the retirement arround that.
"Did he finally get that E Doctor Doom he was looking for?"
"Yes."
"Excellent... Retire the set."
"But sir, Our research shoes that he also just got the R silver samurai and V Gambit he was looking for."
"Hmm... crafty... Then retire Xplosion as well. Your move, Dr. Itzelf"
About the medic debate: No medic should be able to heal wolverine better than he can heal himself. That's where the rules fall flat on their face I'm afraid. They need to at least make medics less useful (just reduce support to Regen, and Regen up to support's level, and give Support the minimum of one).
On the retirement debacle: My enlarged list of got/lost...
We got Loki, we lost Thor.
We got Spidey as a member of the F4, we lost the F4 (except for the hockey puck Invisible Woman).
We got Cable, we lost Apocalypse and Boom Boom.
We got Longshot, we lost Mojo and Spiral.
We got Bishop, we lost the Sentinel(?) and White Queen
We got Donald Pierce, we lost the White Queen.
We got Silver Sable, we lost Sandman.
Nice timing boys, nice timing. One could almost say brilliant, except, no, not really.

Again, this is a game BASED on comic books.
A medic could bandage up Supes to get him back some of what he lost. Since this could happen in comics it is reasonable and justified to make it part of a game BASED on comics.
Since this game is BASED on comics, it is not the comics so there is no justification needed.
As both a player and a retailer, complaints about retirement seem specious to me. No one ever said, "you can't use those figs" any more. There is one play environment that restricts them, and one that doesn't and this is a great plan, just as it was for Magic. Why should WK ever care a whit about after-market value?
The issue that DOES bother me, is the choice of figures for the Universe set. It seems to have been made on mold configuration rather than figure viability/playability.
As long as the yet-to-be-named Summer '05 release is VERY FF HEAVY (which is obviously the plan with the movie coming out at the same time), I'll be pretty pleased.

and your suggestion for accomplishing WK's goals would be....
Oh yea, Alpha Flight figures do have a TA. They can do move actions for free. I assume you are upset they did not get their own symbol. I am sure if you volunteered to pay for redoing the PAC, WK will given them the Maple Leaf.
