Wow i hope your not serious about DC ripping off Marvel when the house of ideas gets all of its material from DC.
Lets see.....
hyperion=superman ripoff but ripping off superman once wasn't enough so marvel did it again with Gladiator, but even that wasn't enough so marvel goes for a third effort with sentry
Taskmaster=Deathstroke but ripping off slade once wasn't enough so marvel did it again with Deadpool
Thanos=Darkseid but ripping off Darkseid once wasnt enough so marvel did it again with apocalypse(hell they even give him the name of Darkseids world but spelt different wow thats suttle)
The two comic companies have equally influenced each other and both have come up with there fair share of original ideas. Where as Thanos or Taskmaster may have started off inspired by Darkseid and Deathstroke, neither pale in comparison to their orginators and stand on there own feet as interesting well portrayed characters.
As for hyperion and all of the Squadron Supreme, they may have all been rip offs of dc characters, but their creators delved into subject matters that neither company had before had the guts to explore.
I don't understand why any of you could possibly be mad in the first place. Neither company has ever written anything truly original. Every story ever written, told or watched is based in part if not entirely on something else done first. EVERYTHING!
Think about it, every movie with two idiot guys doing something stupid. A group of friends that stick together through some terrible event. A man who stands alone for justice.
These are not original ideas, if you think that hyperion or gladiator were based on superman, remember superman was based on others before him. The creators were influenced by all kinds of characters like The Shadow, and the Lone Ranger and such.
In fact the idea of a HERO goes all the way back to cavemen drawing on cave walls.
So don't go getting flustered over some big company finding NEW ways to use VERY OLD ideas to get YOUR money.
All i meant is both companies copy each others creations (Imperiex is a blatant ripoff of galactus obviously so DC is guilty as well) i just find it funny that someone can rant on about DC copying Marvel when Marvel does the exact same thing....thats all, I actually like thanos, apocalypse and taskmaster.
i dont know if this has been addressed but man thing and swamp thing are rip offs of each other. the the creators of the characters were roomates when said characters were created, and both cam eout within the same month or so. also marvel has ripped off alot of dc and ripped off mythology. also zebulon, i find it funny yuou say orion is a rip off of thor cuz A, thor is just a mythological norse legned re-written into comic, same for hercules loki ares etc. and B, jack kirby created both thor[the comic version] and orion.
Actually the guy in Batman's arms is Harvey Bullock who is coming back as the Spectre...............................:cross-eye
Someone actually told me that at my comic book shop the other day. I couldn't stop laughing. Harvey Bullock, Wrath of God, bringer of vengence.....after lunch.
I seriously doubt Arsenal is going to die, it might be Blue Beetle, but whoever gets it all I know is there are some cool mini-series coming out afterwards.
Prize or no prize. If you're not having fun, whats the point?
i'm pretty sure it's blue beetle in batman's arms.
but who says he has to be dead? maybe he get's critically wounded and this gives him a reason to get serious and back in the buisness so to speak. didio did say he'd have a lot going on this year, but i'm not sure if he was serious.
the female in the shadows, the one who'll be in villains united, is definately talia, not chesire. already read a description of the first issue.
the group is: lex, black adam, talia, calculator, deathstroke and dr. psycho.
i'm pretty sure the red hood is jason todd. it's funny i was also thinking that hush may turn out to be harvey dent.
one thing i don't think i've seen brought up, man-thing was a swamp-thing rip-off not the other way around. also i thought i read that deadpool was a parody of deathstroke. that's why his name is only two letters off.
slade/wade.
in the past both companies have ripped each other off, it's just lately marvel seems to be doing it a lot more.
Marvel dont keep their dead guys dead ... except for Mar Vel and Bucky ... and DC is following that so much hated path ... dont kill Blue Bettle if you intent to bring him back ... please ...
Squirrel Girl's KO list:
1. Doctor Doom
2. Thanos
3. Terrax
4. M.O.D.O.K.
5. Deadpool
Currently reading ...
1. Ultimates II
2. Ultimate Fantastic Four
3. Secret Six
4. Eternals
5. Young Avengers
Batman is involved in the One Man Army Corps Project.
What if Blue Beetle (or Arsenal for that matter) is the person he is carrying & he is part of making them into OMAC??
I can definately see Roy in that role. He has the background and it gets him out of what is becoming a crowded Green Arrow cast.
Blue Beetle has ongoing medical problems - see back issues of Birds of Prey- and could also be saved by an experimental treatment turning him into OMAC.
Just a thought..
I like killing guys when I wear a tux. It makes me feel like James Bond. Brock Sampson
All Stars may be reinventing, it might not be. I've only read Seven Soldiers and Shining Knight so far, and honestly, I can't quite tell what the heck is going on.
But as to the Ultimates being a groundbreaking work that is now being copied...
Well, not according to it's creator, who has said that it's basically "The Authority" for Marvel. I'm guessing he might have some insight since A) He writes the Ultimates, and B) He wrote the Authority.
Both companies steal from the other. Absolutely. But, and this is the principle difference to me, for the most part an "homage" hero from DC tends to be just that, an homage to the Marvel hero that inspired them. The Marvel "Homage" tends to be mean-spirited and intended to show what a loser the DC hero obviously is in comparison to the trendy cool Marvel heroes. The SS was not intended as tip of the hat or a subtle acknowledgement of DC's venerable team books JSA and JLA, no it was intended as a "You loser, you're outdated." And to the shock of Marvel editors, thet became hugely popular.
And there a few ya'll missed. Timber wolf with the upswept hair predates Wolverine by over a decade. They dropped the swoop look because they had to know that even though they had the feral dude with the wepy back hair long before a certain canadian attacked the Hulk, no one would remember and they'd just say DC copied Wolverine. Le sigh....
But hey, don't just take my word for it on most of this:

No, it doesn't take a genius to put two and two together. All it takes is somebody to have read Barry's final issues of the Flash during Crisis on Infinite Earths to answer this one. Then you'd know how he'd managed to father a child and still be dead. Of course, as you correctly stated you know nothing about DC...
