There should be a group pic of us up sometime at the bar afterwards. All I can say is, it wasn't MODOK, Steve. It wasn't even close!
But he's happy and that's all that matters.
Roland, Roland, Roland. Just be thankful I didn't make the cut!!!!!!
Hey, so I got one battle royale in with a drafted team of Metallo, V Chesire, R Shade (can't stay away from this guy!), and E Big Barda. Really good pull. Faced off against MDSX and 1 other with a KC WW, V Big Barda, R Cheshire, and something else along with the other team of R,E Brainiac 5, V Scarecrow and E Killer Croc. The unknown guy was taken out but not before Metallo had taken off 7 clicks on KC WW before we moved to a 2 vs 2 format. MDSX and I vs 2 fully healed teams of R Raven, E Brainiac 5, R Maxima, and R Cheshire along with another team of Kilowog, V Science Police, E DEO, and R Killer Croc. Best move was KCWW on her flurry/SS click holding a heavy based by Kilowog. Slammed him for 5, following it up for 3 and 1 turn kill on Kilowog. Very cool. Somehow my Chesire held up and prevailed with a little help from the Royale theme of Turtle shock. Walked out with a LE Connor Kent for that. SWEET!!!!!
I spent most of the day on the con floor checking out who was appearing today. Hung out with Ro-gan for a good part of it as well. Jeph Loeb did a little sketch of the Scarecrow for me since Tim Sale wasn't around. Also had Greg Horn (who does the very *good* covers of Emma Frost...... had a great laugh and he drew me Mysterio. It was such an odd request but he did it smiling. Great conversation too about what movies scared you as a kid and now seem ridiculous. Talked to Christos Gage (on Deadshot) and Marc Andreyko (Manhunter - the best book you AREN'T reading!!!!!!!- DARK CRISIS) Cool cats as well. Bill Willingham explained the Spoiler/Robin dilemma to me and at least it was a reasonable explanation of it all. But the best part was at the pub afterwards with Doom's Medic, Ro-Gan, Bad6423, Roland, GroovyBoy and Jamie and Erin from BC. Such a blast talking clix, trading clix, and just BS-ing. This was my first con and it was a blast!!!!
Cripes! Did whoever sent the pics in have to send the absolute worst ones of us he could find?!!?
Just a couple of notes about the pics...
The guy next to Hiaku is armac. If you're on the WK forums, you know who he is (he's a mod there). He's the Canadian regional envoy. Great guy. If you ever get the chance to talk to him at a con, make sure you stop and say hi.
piranha is the Pirates rules arb. He's another really cool guy that you should say hi to if you see him. I think his next appearance will be at Origins (if I remember correctly).
GroovyBoy... still pretty creepy, but he doesn't hold a candle to the creep-master DS. Speaking of which, I've got a pretty creepy suprise for DS that I'm bringing back.
Well, it's done. I'm just waiting for my "I survived WWLA" shirt. It was a lot of work but I had a complete blast! My day was spent running the Invitational finals. The only time I was outside the game room was when I ran downstairs to buy my dragon and Phoenix from the WK booth and pick up a couple of JSA trade paperback for the plane ride home tomorrow. I've said it before but HC players simply are the best. Thanks to everyone... players, envoys, and WK employees who made this con a ton of fun.
After the con was over we packed it all up. NCSoft (the City of Heros folks) had given us a bunch of T-shirts for the envoys that worked. We had some left over so I went over to the Vs group looking for a kid that had come up asking about them. I didn't find him so I gave one kid there a shirt. As soon as I did that, it opened up the flood gate! In a matter of mere seconds I had something like 75 kids surrounding me... all yelling for a shirt (I had about 10 or so). I just started grabbing shirts and chucking them up in the air, over my shoulder, off to the side, whatever. You would have thought I was throwing $50 bills! It was a mob scene. It was pretty funny though and the other envoys who were still hanging around said it was quite the sight. Everyone had a good laugh and it was nice to just relax a bit after the weekend.
As you know, LuckyMusolino won the entire thing (congrats Roland!). His team was...
V Black Adam
V Nightwing
R Jean Grey
R Destiny
E Con Artist
E Paramedic
In the final round he went up against Vic Von Badazz who's team consisted of...
U Phoenix (ult) with Trick Shot
U Black Queen (MM)
V Paramedic
E DEO Agent
R Destiny
R Jean Grey
V Hand Ninja (ranged)
E Moon Knight
It was a tight game and came down to the wire. It could have easily gone the other way. Vic Von's Phoenix was KO'ed but he had Roland's Black Adam on the ropes. He just couldn't KO him before time expired.
Fellowship went to Brandon Straight... Savage_Hulk on the WK forums but I can't remember what he goes by here. Sorry Brandon. Congrats to Brandon for the fellowship win!
I'll post the other teams later... just have to get some sleep cause I have an early flight tomorrow morning.

Okay, okay, okay, just got home from WWLA. I'm glad Roland won because that gives me the right to say the only guy I lost to on Saturday was the winner of it all. no, seriously. I didn't make the team, but congrats to all those who did. just in case anybody is interested, here's how I did:

Round 2: Lost to Spidey boy 20?(not sure on the spelling). i missed a crucial roll with bullseye, but it was funny.
Played a battle royale and got 4th. Very Cool Scenario!
All in all, I had a GREAT TIME! Nothing like making it to the final day at your first convention. I met a lot of great guys. I look forward to next year since I probably won't be able to afford San Diego. Thanks to everyone and good job!
It looks like the teams listed so far lack Legacy.
Was Legacy legal in final rounds at WWLA regionals?
I thought for sure we'd see Fortitude/Armor Piercing and especially ICWO instead of those Con Artists.
Thanks Webhead (and everyone else) for the awesome updates!
Trick Shot is an amazing ability. It appears the Phoenix team could have taken the V Black Adam if just a few more minutes were available.
currently playing:
Dragon Quest VIII
Heroclix
Go
currently listening:
The Shins- Chutes to Narrow
Yo La Tengo- And then nothing turned itself inside out.
The Faint- Wet from birth

I can second that, I worked with him at Gencon last year and he is super nice.
