Though I think I may have you beat on autographs if I pull out my DVD's (my ex-fiancee was a -huge- Buffy fan so when Season 1 DVD hit I went to a few friends that were cast members and they pulled a few strings and got not only the core crew to sign but also managed to get autographs of some of our favourite characters like the Mayor...she and I split shortly before she was to receive it as a birthday present so it's still sitting there wrapped as I've never seen a reason to open it).
And, yes, you got me with your pretending - teaches me to trust ya' Hoss.

"Buffy, we both know what a horrible mistake that is."
"I'll be gentle this time. I can be gentle."
Joss got me too. I had to reread that five times before it sunk in. I wasn't trying to prank you, when Buffy asked Xander if he was coming to bed, I freaked out.
But I have the sense to recognize that I don't know how to let you go...
I am very excited about the Buffy comic. I haven't made it to the store yet to pick up issue #2 but I will make it this week.
My thoughts with all the slayers and possible outcomes:
1) Someone will round them up to form an evil militia (possibly a government).
2) One slayer will realize that they can get stronger (a la Rising Stars) by killing off the other slayers. I could see one going mad and killing off other slayers to make sure that she could kill the ultimate evil (the end justifying the means).
As far as the Kennedy discussion goes, I actually liked her. The love of Tara and Willow was literally and figuratively "magical." I think Kennedy was a bit more physical... more of the "it's o.k. to do girls. I think it was used to give Willow a physical grounding to the world she was missing after the death of Tara... but I didn't see it lasting.
You have to admire any girl that basically psychologically beats down Lizzie Maguire's best friend so that the First can come in and convince her to hang herself.

Thoughts on the most recent comic:
Giant, naked Dawn. That's just not right, on so many levels. Mostly because I still think of her as being 14-15.
Xander is tremendously cool.
I'm actually starting to like there being multiple slayers.
"I'd like to test that theory" ... !

Oh thank God I'm not the only one who keeps feeling that way. I realize she's now about 18 but it's still taking some getting used to here.

Well, duh!
So, I finally got the issue in yesterday and there is one thing that's bothering me: it's only a 4-issue arc and while I'm happy to not be bogged down in an extended storyline, it does seem like there's a lot happening to get wrapped up before Faith's arc that starts in issue #5. Hopefully some of the threads are ongoing over the season and will be treated that way rather than rushed.
Oh, and am I the only one who found himself actually coming up with a reasonable list of answers as to why Slayer's use "medieval tools" instead of modern firearms?

Yes. Yes, you are. Because I spent almost the entirety of the final episode of the show asking my myself, "The hell? Where is the rocket launcher? Buffy was carrying it around earlier this season. Biggest fight of their lives and they show up looking like they raided the prop trailer from Krull." I guess part of Joss's idea of "girl power" means keeping it real, 14th century style.
And as far as Dawn goes, the preview for EuroTrip was enough to make me want to wash my eyes out with fire. Harriet the Spy should not be flashing her rack in a low-budget Porky's ripoff...
10 Reasons - abriged - as to why melee weapons are a smart idea for a Slayer:
1) A Slayer's capabilities are superhuman, including strength, reflexes and agility; melee weapons are an extension of a well-trained body and combined with those superhuman capabilities become "superhuman" themselves. It allows a Slayer greater freedom of movement while still bringing her superhuman capabilities to bear.
2) A number of foes fought by the Slayer - especially vampires - have very specific vulnerabilities. Chewing one up with a chain-gun doesn't necessarily kill it but putting that stake through the heart (and then withdrawing the stake for a quick second kill on another vamp) does; the same goes for using a sword to behead the vamp which is a bit trickier with a handgun.
3) Heavier armaments - such as flamethrowers or rocket launchers - present interesting options but are bulky and hazardous. A Slayer needs to constantly be moving, not weighed down by flammable tanks of fuel. Considering a Slayer needs speed and agility that hurts the option for most larger armaments and, sure, she could go "Lara Croft" and pack handguns (though firing them while jumping around like that would jam them quickly) but that's not going to do much against a vampire.
4) A Slayer isn't always going to have access to firearms (as we've seen Buffy "stumble" into many an odd situation). If she becomes reliant on them, it's a lot harder for her to improvise than if she's used to, say, using pointy wooden objects or sharp implements.
5) Slayers are 99.9% of the time teenage girls - access to firearms is fairly limited to them as would be concealing and transporting them. A stake is a lot easier to sneak into a backpack than an M-60. Similar to that - firearms grab a lot of attention and much of what a Slayer does needs to be stealthy. Just because there are a bunch of them now it doesn't mean they're "accepted" or "known" by the world at large so it's a bit tougher if a firefight brings down local law enforcement (especially if there are no bodies left so the Slayer just looks like a crazy gal packing an uzi and firing it for the heck of it).
6) The majourity of enhanted weapons a Slayer is likely to encounter are going to be melee in nature (e.g. - Olaf's hammer). If she's going to want that "magic boost" when she comes across one, she'd best be able to fully utilize it.
7) Reliability. As noted, jumping around with a gun and firing it "sideways" is a great way to jam the sucker leaving you unarmed. You're less likely to face that problem with a sword. The same goes if, say, you're coated in demon goo or similar situations faced by a Slayer.
8) Expense. It sure didn't strike me as if the Watcher's Council was doing that hot of a job of keeping Buffy with an income that would allow her to chew through ammo and high-quality guns.
9) A Slayer is frequently outnumbered and/or surrounded in which case it's kind-of handy to know you're not going to have to be dropping that rifle because you're getting into close quarters before you could finish off everything. Similarly, how many cramped conditions have we seen a Slayer fight in where if she'd been packing a one-shot rocket launcher she'd have blown herself to smithereens and still had enough enemies coming at her as she was left unarmed?
10) Because Xander and Giles support the idea so you know it's a good one!

It would have to be pretty early, Willow hasn't even discovered that she's gay yet.
In other words, prior to her band camp adventures that likely made her swear off men forever...we're getting into a worse time-flux than oh, 99% of Star Trek episodes.
(And speaking of Buffy and "alternate time" - I was limited on word count, but I'd always be up to constructive critique from fellow BtVS fans on my submission for Round 2 of Jack's Comic Submission contest over in "Comics Discussion" forum where I went with my version of Buffy: Season Six).
