What is the meaning of "Friday through Thursday schedule"? Does it mean no tourney can be ran at saturdays and sundays?
No, this just means that you only have the one week to sign up to run the tournament. The old way allowed to you scheduled it any time during that month.

I think this is pretty cool. Varying point totals, a couple spots for judge-created events to break up the monotony, DC-only stuff and an opportunity to trot out Starro in a tourney.
It'll be interesting to see what the final prize is, and if people actually try to use Old Galactus... and whether or not figures in general have improved enough since the Old G days to be able to take out Old G.
That's the spirit! I used hold big tournaments from time to time to see if the technology has improved and if old G can be beat. I believe it possible.
However in keeping with the spirit of the set they should keep the colossals limited to DC. Save the Marvel Colossals for the Marvel big event.

Doubt I will be able to play Week 9 (450 points of Crisis is more than I am likly to buy) but looks like some fun events. I may even be able to play my Galactus!
I like there being limit on Feats for Phase Three (would prefer it at 10%)

I love sealed play and look forward to that one week of sealed events.
It would be so cool to pull a Deathstroke and a Nightwing - that 235 pts of Nasty, Making Deathstroke the Wildcard abuser off of one figure, totally wicked.

No, it just means that week 1 starts on a friday and ends on a thursday. Week 2 begins the friday after week one ends on thursday.

This also seems very unfriendly to anyone that might be new and starting to learn the game. Way to many special restrictions and rules.
... And before people complained about never being able to use their old stuff, and that it was unfair to the long-time players.
Anyway, there aren't that many older figures that stand up when put against a newer figure just because of dial balance. I mean sure, a certain figure may have had a better first, second, and maybe even third click, but how many dip down into 4 attacks? I am sure that not having older figures won't be too big a handicap.

Plus 11 weeks? Thats a bit too much. The prizes better be damn well worth it.
So show up for the weeks that you actually want to play. There isn't some requirement to play every week, and unlike the CoG/SA tournaments, there isn't a participation figure to add to a sealed pool. 11 weeks of new prize support is too many... Don't think I've heard that one before.

Pretty much a colossal figure is going to be an auto-win for someone.
And disbanded is retired anyway, so it could only be used for the special unrestricteds, but they are DC only, and it came from a Marvel set, so it just ain't going to happen.
That is my concern.
I have already decided that my colossal stash (both Galactuses, Spectre, Starro, Dark Phoenix, and Foom)is off limits for any weeks that I judge that they may be legal. I can't loan my old Galactus to someone and not have it be seen by others, and even myself, as playing favorites.
I like what I see here, though. I think my players will have a good time, and I like the feat limitations. I certainly wasn't interested in a bunch of TKers and a bunch of Emerald Empresses with Nova Blast attached to them running around.
Now I need to get with my back-up judges and try to figure out what we want to do when we have discretion (I am thinking maybe instead of 5 or 6 actions on the big weeks, maybe we will keep it at 3 or 4), and maybe we will have the prize list by then (but an LE of a figure not yet revealed is something I don't see as likely, so that may not be until later) so we can see who wants to work what weeks.
I'm kind of split here. While I still dislike restrictions handed down by WK at the local level for practically every event (every venue scene is different and WK doesn't know what's best for them all) I'm glad to see that they are opening them up somewhat. I still hate the floorced format. Generally speaking, people will want to use the new stuff anyway, WK shouldn't dictate it. Overall it's an improvement over the Planet Hulk "storyline"... but it's not quite there yet. Cut floorced back to once a month along with one restricted and 2 unrestricted (or a sealed and unrestricted) and stop dictating point totals for most events and I'd be happy.
Like my feelings on the events overall, I'm torn on the final event too. I know of two players at the venue who are probably salivating at the chance to break out Galactus because they can simply dominate everyone. (Although one might use it as a chance to break out 600 points of his Empire-modded PD force... but the "restricted" part might give him some problems).

And how will that be different than using special powers?
They're for the most part straightforward or a watered-down version of an existing power.
I haven't used my Galactus since I bought him. I haven't even used the new Galactus.
Spectre saw play once and don't get me started on Fin Fang Foom...his powers are just all over the map.
Starro, however, I'll echo you...he does seem quite realistic to be played right now...for week 11. And I agree, keep the Marvel Colossals out of the DC storyline events.

My point was how many times is a match stopped to say "what does that power do again?" or "can I see that fig's card?" or "which power does he have in his defense slot?".
It happens a lot. I don't see stopping for a quick check on how the multi-attack works or what the colossal is immune to is any different than these continual stops to check the special powers.
