Hmm. Maybe at least Marvel Clix can survive. Marvel Comics is doing well and has started up their own film production company. Heroclix is profitable. Maybe Marvel themselves could pick up Marvel Heroclix and launch their own gaming branch. Highly unlikely but intriguing, no?
Darn, really sorry to hear this. I've really enjoyed playing Heroclix with both my co-workers and my son, and I will continue to do so, but it's sad that no additional sets will be forthcoming.
As for who might pick it up... WotC does come to mind, but what about DC or Marvel themselves? It would suck if the game became exclusive to one comic line or the other but at least it would continue in some form.
Don't panic people. You can still play yer clix just as well as the chess set in your closet.
The Topps company has 60 years in the collectible business.
My take on all of this is;
Topps will consolidate what there is of the Wizkids name and reintroduce it in similar form later on. So hold on, wait, don't panic.
Play at home, get your venue to hold some events, keep on playing.
I'm sure Topps will rebound this genre of game playing.
Hold on to your collections, Topps will make them compatible with the new stuff just like microsoft made Xbox games compatible with the 360.
Warren Buffet would suggest buying figures now!!
So feel sorry for the souls that worked(poor Rose) at WK buttt.... PLAY ON CLIXERS
WHY DIDN'T THEY LISTEN TO BROTHERMAGNETO AND HAIR10!? =(
I want to hear from Jake Theis. He had vision. He had a 5 year plan. I was informed that Arkham Asylum sold out to warehouses and Heroclix was doing well... I just want more answers.

Beat you to it by 2 posts but with same time stamp. Aw yeah
Heroclix, like they mentioned, is a successful game. Companies would be attracted to clix for several reasons: 1) It's already been developed, so no need to start from scratch 2) It has a strong fanbase. These two things alone can make or break a fledgling game. So a gaming company could easily pick clix up, and just have to worry about following the path thats already been laid out. Not to mention gaming is usually recession proof (don't believe me? Look at the video game market, which has conitnualy grown over the past few years).
However, I'm a bit pessamistic (with the sputtering economy and all) about this whole thing, and this very well may be the end. That being said, perhaps the end has come at a good time. I've been with clix since day one, and have a massive collection. Pretty much all of my favorite characters have been made in some way or another, and I can't imagine going on collecting remakes and D-listers forever (well... maybe if D-Man came along). No one is saying that you can no longer play the game you love, and it is now up to us, the fans to keep it alive (if the wheels truely have fallen off).
Here's hoping that we at least see Hammer of Thor. The power is in our hands to keep our game alive fellow believers!
Maybe HCrealms can band together to save heroclix. I've got 2 sets fully designed and ready to go; just need sculpts (and I'm sure I'm not the only one!)
HCREALMS community: toss money at me and then at clix sculptors and we'll keep this train running!
I would be bummed to have to lump my clix away in a closet with my dusty old Marvel Overpower CCG cards. Though I dunno; even dead, I could see myself still using my big clix collection to play even if the game's years dead. Overpower didn't age so well.
Can HCRealms buy the KeroClix contract? I mean, We got sculpturs like De La Paz, tons of custom dialers, and access to fan favorite lists on what to release next.
Plus, we'll FINALLY have access to the freakin BORKEN CALCULATOR!!!
Now this doesn't mean the end of heroclix products, right? The way I see it is that Wizkids was slowly weakening, and opted for a merger. However, it turned into a takeover, as Topps now has all the key personal, products (heroclix), and rights from Wizkids. So after slurping out all the tasty inards they are tossing away the shell.
To me this means we are loosing: registered user database, judges, prize support, and conventions. However, as Topps now owns everything Wizkids did (correct me if I'm wrong), we should be still getting new heroclix (this is what they what they ment by "continue without any noticeable disruption". Its just a matter of how will the new "boss of heroclix" manage everything, and transfer/redesign the items mentioned lost. Hopefully that note earlier about a new website is a clue to the upcoming remoddeling of heroclix.

And we can finally replace the Injustice League TA!
I'm in the middle of trades and I hope since the forum page is down I won't get ripped off when it comes to getting my part of the trade. I saw some of the Wizkids guys on Saturday at Wizard WOrld TX and none of them said or acted like there was any issue with being shut down. This is nuts....
