the 'B' version is coming... running into technical difficulties (like why the heck am I awake at 3am on a Thursday morning)... But trust me, Hawkeye fans should like it!
Okay - let me know what you guys think - the cards are forthcoming...

Speed - Show-Off: Hawkeye can use Leap/Climb and Running Shot. When Hawkeye makes a ranged combat attack, modify his attack value by +2. Attack - Trick Arrows: Hawkeye can use Energy Explosion, Incapacitate and Smoke Cloud. Defense - Trained by Cap: Hawkeye can use Combat Reflexes and Willpower.
Welcome to another look at Dark Reign. So far we’ve seen an Immortal Weapon, a lucky mercenary, and a pair of ladies going by the name of Ms. Marvel. Oh, and Norman... who is still crazy. So it’s time to take a look at another figure for this set - but why look at one when we can look at TWO? And two it shall be.
Today we are looking at a pair of characters that bring a bow to a superpower fight… by choice, no less. That’s right ladies and gentlemen, we’re talking about Hawkeye.
Just like Ms. Marvel, the first dial might not be who you normally think about when you hear the name Hawkeye. As a member of Norman’s Dark Avengers, this Hawkeye is actually Bullseye (aka Lester). So, for the cost of 100 points, what does this guy bring to the table?

Starting off on his character card we notice the trait;
Bullseye!:At the beginning of the game, place 3 tokens on Hawkeye's card. Any time that Hawkeye attempts a ranged combat attack and a 1 appears on either of the dice, you may remove a token to re-roll the 1.
So what is this going to do for him? Well you could use it to prevent a critical miss, which is always nice. Or when you roll that 6 and a 1 when you need a 10... simply re-roll that 1. Now you’ve got a 50/50 chance to succeed at the attack.
But why am I talking to you about if this Hawkeye misses… shouldn’t he hit... almost always? Well yes - and with his starting AV of 10 compounded by his special power (I Never Miss), Hawkeye should be hitting the 'Bullseye' every time! Add in the Sharpshooter ability and you have an archer truly worthy to be called an Avenger.
I Never Miss!: When Hawkeye makes a ranged combat attack, modify his attack value by +2.
But Lester isn’t going to play the hero forever, and his dial will soon reflect that. After a quick attempt at using a trick arrow (Explosive Arrow/Energy Explosion), we begin to see a bit of the monster behind the mask. Lester gains Stealth, Psychic Blast and a new special power (The Gloves are Off!), so any teammate standing too close will have to watch out… Lester might be giving his presents early this year!
The Gloves are Off!: Hawkeye can use Mastermind and Willpower. When using Mastermind, Hawkeye ignores the point limit restriction.
But don't forget that Norman's secret weapon, has another special power that appears both at the front and end of his dial (Hit and Run)
Hit and Run: Hawkeye can use Leap/Climb and Running Shot.
Hawkeye's starting base of 3 damage will work wonders with his Running Shot and being able to use Leap/Climb will help him to fully utilize the map. Of course, once he’s in position and protected by his Energy Shield/Deflection, he can feel free to push to get a bump in damage from Ranged Combat Expert. It wont work with his Running Shot or his triple target… but when that one character on your opponent's team just simply has to go... Hawkeye is on the job - with a smile on his face and malice in his heart.
Turning to the other half of this preview, we see that Clint Barton makes an appearance as well. Now Clint’s gone by a few different names throughout his career, and is currently running around as Ronin (which might be considered odd… fighting crime in women’s clothing - but that’s OK, even if he isn't a lumberjack). It's like Clint told Kate Bishop (the current Barton approved Hawkeye, though I still call her Hawkingbird) not too long ago, “don’t let the costume fool you, I’m still Hawkeye.” And this version of the figure represents him as just that!

Looking at the dial, you may notice that this version has an identical starting click as our other Hawkeye. It just goes to show that Bullseye's skill allows him to play a rather convincing Hawkeye... on the surface. But as with most things, the devil is in the details.
The first special power we notice is called Show-Off.
Show-Off: Hawkeye can use Leap/Climb and Running Shot. When Hawkeye makes a ranged combat attack, modify his attack value by +2.
Now if you are thinking that this special power is a combination of the two special powers that Lester started with... you’d be right! And by doing so he has room for his second special power, Trick Arrows.
Trick Arrows: Hawkeye can use Energy Explosion, Incapacitate and Smoke Cloud.
So with Running Shot, the 'still feeling new' Sharpshooter ability, and 3 targets... this Hawkeye might just be locking down your favorite opponents for a bit. If you have the points to spare, I'm sure there's a few feats that might go very well with this combination (*cough* Stunning Blow *cough*). And just like that other Hawkeye, he starts with some upfront Energy Shield/Deflection to make sure that not only can he annoy your opponent on your turn, but also on their turn as well.
However, players that have been around the block might be thinking "Well, he’s got Energy Shield/Defelection, so I’ll just base him. Then he's useless.” Well, that might work on other characters but Clint got a little trick up his sleeve. On his third click he AV spikes to 11, and he gains Flurry along with his final special power (Trained by Cap). Trained by Cap: Hawkeye can use Combat Reflexes and Willpower.
With Combat Reflexes, getting close to him really won't make him that much easier to hit. And despite his close combat upgrades, Clint still packs the Sharpshooter ability with a side of Ranged Combat Expert - allowing Hawkeye call the shots and defy the odds... just as he always has. And speaking of defying the odds, the final damage and defense upswing near the end of the dial help this Hawkeye to keep the role he's always been the most comfortable with - the underdog! After all, who brings a bow to a Superhero Brawl? Hawkeye... that's who!
Both versions of Hawkeye definitely bring ranged superiority to the table. The choice of which to use all depends on what you're looking for. Do you need a psycopathic killer who never misses and can find anyone's weak spot or a true hero with the grit to never be counted out?
Stay tuned for the next preview - we might just change our focus a bit and look at something a little bit different... possibly something from out of this world! See you then!
Awesome work! I love the Clint Barton dial (like the Bullseye one, too), but I'm a big fan of dials with synergistic powers. When he goes to Flurry, his defensive powers change to CR, which makes perfect sense. Of course, that 3rd click on his dial makes him a better hand-to-hand combatant than Connor Hawke, and I'm not sure that's accurate, although I suppose you could make an argument for it.

I definitely think the argument could be made, but it always gets dicey when you try to compare apples from one universe to the apples of another. Someone always claims one side tastes better.
So I'll just say that this is my take on Hawkeye at his best... on his best day. I'm sure Clint could take Connor on his best day... just as I'm sure Connor would trash Clint on Connor's best day - 11 AV Flurry attack or not.
Thanks for the kind words on the dial - I'm really trying to give these guys a solid treatment and make their dials as much fun to play as I can.
I really dig the Clint Hawkeye. 100 points seems like a bit much for a Hawkeye, but I can't argue with anything on his dial (other then maybe that's a veteran's stats).
"Un-fun Dad, un-fun Dad,
He's so bad, he mak'a me mad
Un-fun Dad, un-fun Dad
He's a real cad, Un-fun Dad"
Hawkeye obviously prefers the bow, but he's still a dangerous had-to-hand combatant. He's been a ninja, was trained by Cap, and even acted as Giant-Man for awhile.

That's one of those weird things... while I could make it a Vet Hawkeye, since this set has so much emphasis on the people behind the masks... well, Vet Clint would be Ronin. That was the thinking behind making Clint an Experienced instead of a vet... since he is still wearing the Hawkeye duds.
Oh, I wanted to take a moment for something else as well. As I said in the other thread, I wanted to thank traitorarmor for the great write-up he did for Hawkeye and the future write-ups he has planned for the next few previews.
