It didn't work for Halo and it won't work for SF or GoW either.
At least part of why it didn't work for Halo was because the Clix system for Halo was totally incompatible with HeroClix, which is not the case with SF or GoW.

The point is that you're not going to convert the hardcore gamer audience into a tabletop gaming pool simply because you release pieces based on those games.
GoW and Halo are generally fast-paced, action heavy games. I can't see a hardcore gamer walking down the road to play a stripped-down, exponentially slower, undoubtedly more expensive version of a game that is already sitting in the living room waiting to be fired up, and which already presents a nigh-endless stream of opponents.
Longest-Reigning Drunken HeroClix Champion - anyone got a liver?
For me and my friend, it was the haloclix that got me into heroclix. If it wasn't for them I would not have started playing.
It looks like this is the end goal for WK. I'm sure they know what they're doing, but I'd rather not see them cater overmuch to a player base known for being somewhat fickle.

I'm all for branching out in moderation to increase the people that play heroclix, but let's be honest. AT NO POINT SHOULD ANY BRANCHING OUT HAVE TAKEN PLACE UNTIL THEY MAKE AN ASH FROM ARMY OF DARKNESS CLICK. Be real. That's all I ask.
I dont like it.
If they want to bring gamers to clix make gamclix.
With all the comic book characters that never have seen the light to see LOTR or Street Fighter bothers me.
Only from my point of view it seems that neka its not trying to get new comic licenses and instead bring licenses that they already have to clix.
If you need the 2012 Rules Book and PAC in Spanish PM me ^ What he said. Vlad´s Stamp of approval
Ok is everyone missing how witht he exceptio of LotR and Iron Maiden all these properties are also comic book properties and if you haven't read the GoW comic your missing out. Its good stuff. The reason Haloclix was so unsuccessful is because it was not compatable with Heroclix. I only bought a few figs because no one wanted to play haloclix but if i had been able to use them in our Heroclix games I would have bought more. Besides these are not full big sets. this little mini sets here and there have all upside. your out of pocket a much smaller amount to get the characters you want and it does attract players to a game most of them have never heard of and once they play it they may decide it is something they want to get into more heavily. I personally will be buying the GOW, LotR, SF clix but I can pretty well gaurentee I won't touch Iron Maiden clix. Im excited to see all these properties they have being used. This gives me hope for TMNT and some other choice things id like to see clix for. Hopefully it works out like Neca/Wizkids thinks it will.
Eddie looms on the Horizon and I'm sure that there will be at least a brick of Superman in my future. Also fast forces Thor and GL, also are in the mix. Street fighter I might cherry pick a few just so Byz doesn't have the monopoly on the pieces. Cripes I just can't budget for it all, and there's more coming in 2012.
Heh, no worries, man. I'm all about sharing. If you want to build a team with my pieces, i'm not going to begrudge you any. Just tell me the week before and i'll bring you what you need.
I feel your pain though, my wallet is going to be hurting with just the release of the GL clix, Street Fighter, and Captain America.

Lets see Wizkids is working on getting new comic licensing. but what is the harm in producing properties they already have the rights for in the mean time.
Also Wizkids can only make the marvel/DC characters that the publisher wants them to make. They present them a plan for a set and the publisher says yes i like the idea here are the characters you can use for the set. Ultimately Marvel and DC control what gets offered in sets. I think its quite a smart idea to try to bring more people into this game. you likely won't see alot of this stuff very wide in the tournament scene because if they are a hardcore video gamer they likely won't be interested in playing but they will buy them like they did with Halo Clix. Halo Clix sold early because all the Halo fanboys out there wanted the figures. None of them played. But that has happened in other companies as well. Take the WOW card game. It worked because it had good game mechanics that card gamers enjoyed and because WOW players wanted the loot cards or the cool art. most WOW players are too busy with WOW to care about a card game.
i agree with you..neca is going to spread themselves to thin..
That was the exact expression I got with the Halo ActionClix Noble Team wave. Despite its relatively small size a a release, it was obvious not enough time or effort was put into making the set right, so a lot of mistakes slipped in and made the figures useless, unplayable, or at best, a disappointment.
Hopefully these figs won't be as bad as that release was. The fact that it's part of the HeroClix rule set should work in its favor, and at least alleviate the 'designer doesn't seem to understand the game' factor.
