What if I lob a Frag grenade at a stealthed figure with Mastermind...hits for 2, he then lands on Toughness, does that negate the 1 damage dealt from the Frag to the target?
I'd think so as it's a separate phase of damage dealing?
I threw it at CA Uncommon Nick Fury on first click if that helps...hitting him for 2 gets him onto Toughness, then Frag's 1 damage dealt kicks in but Toughness negates it, correct?

How do you lob at yourself? As far as I know, you cannot target yourself with ranged combat attacks?
Page 9: "You can’t target a friendly character with an attack. A character can’t target itself unless specifically allowed to or it uses a game effect that targets “all characters” or “friendly characters”."
Grenade: "Choose a target square within 5 squares and line of fire (ignoring characters for line of fire purposes). Make a ranged combat attack targeting all characters occupying or adjacent to the target square."

It hit me as soon as I walked out to lunch, square vs. character.
However, how about that question I posted before this one?
Does Toughness appearing after the initial 2 damage from the Frag negate the extra 1 damage it deals or is the 1 extra on top of the 2 damage to the target square? as in:
222
232
222
Or
222
222
222
Then 1 more to the character occupying the target square? I'm thinking it's the latter.

You could even lob a grenade at yourself if you wanted.
Oh how I keep finding reasons to love Mind Control. It has been far too long since I've used it!
So probably not a good idea to use sharp shooter and a grenade? Unless you are using one of those Halo Plasma grenades and about to die...which I do all the time in the video game >.>

Actually, in that case, you would be unaffected as you are not adjacent to yourself, so in that specific case, you cannot be the target.
Unlike PW, there is no stipulation that there must be opposing characters around to be attacked.

Does the statement "You can't target a friendly character with an attack" have any bearing on making ranged combat attacks that target the friendly characters near the grenade?

Are you saying use Mind Control to lob a grenade?
I don't think this will work unless you have a grenade pool of your own, since that is determined at the start of the game and the grenade pool is based on the team and not the individual character. If you meant something else, then accept my apology and fill us in on your secret tech.

Good point. Does the grenade pool transfer when the character becomes friendly to your force? Does your force get how ever many grenades that character adds when you MC them?
Venue: The Gaming Goat in Elgin, IL. Find us in the WizKids event system.
No, the grenade pool is set at the beginning of the game. After that, characters friendly to you have access to X number, which doesn't change no matter who changes sides or for how long (baring game text that does explicitly change your pool size).
