I watched Drive. It is outstanding. On paper it seems like it should be an action movie, but really it isn't at all. It is a slow moving arthouse film with some incredible directorial work as well as fantastic performances from all actors involved. It's quiet, contemplative tone gives the short bursts of action and violence incredible impact and the spare dialogue makes you sit up and take notice of every well thought out word. One of the best, if not the very best, of the year so far.
Watched "O Brother, Where are Thou" and then "Out of Sight" last couple nights. Each is still vastly entertaining.
I literally gasped with delight the first time Sondheim paused the frame in Out of Sight. That movie is so much more than the sum of its parts. Also as a literature nerd O Brother is right up my alley, and that soundtrack is incredible.
Blood simple is the only one I'd say I didnt enjoy particularly, and I still haven't seen a serious man or the hudsucker proxy.
Both are good. Hudsucker maybe falls flat in places but it has more than enough good to make it worthwhile and A Serious Man is really, really, really bleak but an interesting film.

Seeing a lot of negativity here on the boards I was glad to read your review before seeing the movie last night.
A) Favorite soundtrack/score in a long time (I generally love Cliff Martinez and his subtlety was really complimentary to the understated nature of the story)
B) Such an efficient opening to sell his prowess
C) Really horrific use of violence
Just something I really enjoyed and will be telling some of my friends to see. I definitely can understand how it isn't for everyone.

Just gotta mention one thing: Soderbergh
And another director who picks great composers, either Cliff Martinez or David Holmes.

Recently watched the five part series pilot Transformers Prime: Darkness Rising and I've got to say this would have been a HELL OF A FILM TO SEE IN A THEATER. It really surprised me that THE ROCK voiced Cliff Jumper I've watched the series but never got around to seeing the pilot because usually the pilot doesn't add much to the story BOY WAS I WRONG THIS TIME. It's well acted, visually stunning, and there are some truly classic moments like when a rescued hostage is so delirious from torture he tells Ratchet "GO PUT ON SOME PANTS" to which Ratchet replies "but, I like walking around o' natural"
