(don't wanna know how many times that pun's appeared in this thread already.)
God is smarter than we are....
Visit Heroclixin'! Or check out my trade thread. Molly Hayes' KO list: HoT Ultron, HoT Thor, SI Iron Man, AV Wonder Man, SI Sentry, LE Diana Prince, R IC Ultron, Pretty Boy, CW Kang, IIM Thunderball, TW Catwoman, OP Red Hulk.
He has, basically, Contingency Plan built in. I guess I'll say someone attempted to do something creative - he purposefully sucks until he gains confidence in hitting stuff.
Wow. Starting with the AV, DV and damage stats and best powers of Icons Vet Superman's first click is "sucking" now? Really? SMH

8 clicks? He needs a longer dial. Sure, his powers are confidence-based, but it's not often in the comics we see him faltering due to a shaken resolve, and it sure as hell wouldn't go down that fast anyway. Glad to see him, and that people seem to be happy with his dial, but he's a little short-lived for my tastes.
I get what everone is saying, but past the first couple of clicks, i'm underwhelmed. Shorter range than i was expecting. I'm fine with him not having indomitable, but feel his dial should have been 1 or 2 clicks longer. Or if not longer, had a special power like the white lanterns "live" power that stopped the dial from turning past the last click and forcing at least 1 more attack to finish him. Hoping the Fast Forces is a different take on him than this one.
Don't forget, there will be another version in the Fast Forces. I like this, pretty standard flying brick, imo.. Cool trait, though. I see his stats drop as a result of the loss of confidence.
Guys, you do realize that you can perplex range right!
Good idea. I'll Perplex his range from a 5 to a 6 so when I make my Hypersonic ranged attack I will be able to boost his range from a 3 to a... 3. Yep. That would be incredibly useful.

Except you replace and then modify, so it would be a 5 divided by 2 (3), +1. So it'd be a 4 range. Or if you add +2, it'd be a 5, or +3 would be a 6!
Technically, he's a SuperBOY knockoff, not Superman.
I like the dial, but he is front-loaded.
Actually, to be even more technically correct, he is a pre-crisis "knockoff" of Superboy / man.
He is far, far faster than current Superman (Gladiator has been clocked at 100 times the speed of light (per Mr. Fantastic).
The reason I say both Superboy and Superman as reference for Gladiator is becasue Gladiator is a "homage" to Superboy as the Imperial Guard is also an Homage to the Legion.
But the name Gladiator is really a reverse pun on Superman - since while we can say Gladiator is derivative of Superman, the inspiration that Jerry and Joe had for Superman was from the book Gladiator by Philip Wylie.
See Superman was actually a "knockoff" of the guy in that book titled Gladiator who gained powers from radioactive isotopes from his scientific father. These powers included super strength and steel hard skin. Basically the original superman powers were based on the character in the Gladiator novel.

So it is incredibly useful.
If that is the case, that's better, but a range of four is still nothing to get very excited about.

Yeah, not trying to sound like a smarty-pants, but it's been "replace then modify" since at least May of this year. I think it's been longer, as I'm always surprised at how many people don't realize that it changed.

I know about Replace then Modify, it just seems like you are modifying in the midst of already-transpiring action. Since a character performing a Hypersonic movement cannot move a few squares, then Perplex or Outwit something, then finish moving, it doesn't make sense that a Perplex effect would take place during rather than prior to a declared action. I'm not saying you are wrong. I'm just saying it's not logical. However, arguing logic with this game is usually a lost cause.

Perplex is just a blanket modifier, don't think of it as "I'm perplexing my range to a 6" think of it as "I'm perplexing it by +1". So until the beginning of your next turn it's +1. No matter if some other effect modifies or replaces it, it's still +1.
So when you do HSS and shoot, you check the range: "okay, it's a base 5, replaced by half rounded up (3), then modified by +1, so it's 4"
And yes, 1 isn't a lot more when it's only going up to 4, but add in another 1 or 2, possibly from different sources, and it's bumped up to a more respectable amount. Especially considering the average HSS ranged piece (i.e. not Icons Superman) has an 8 range, which gets halved to a 4 anyway.
they wreit the comics as they see fit huh? good thing gladioatro is a real life cahracter from history right tell me what are the caractes actual abilities as seen in the comics?? maybe it is, he got very scared when he saw cassadra nova?? in the comics? right??
WTH are you talking about? It's a comic book. They have writers. I'm sure you know this. That being said for you and the other guy, it's called marvel universe. Wiki marvel character guide. Marvel Data base. Should I continue? BTW your reply makes no since. So for you and the beast let me clarify by saying the "actual ability" of a character as written by the writers and other various sources.
