In the interest of being accurate, I have a minor correction to a couple of posts. 2 people misread my statement thinking that I was claiming that 6 Sinestro Corps members in Arkham Asylum = "an extraordinary amount of love."
It's a little nit-picky, I know, but you guys missed the rest of my sentence:
I didn't just mean the 6 from Arkham Asylum. I meant those 6, the GLs in DC75, the other rainbow lanterns from DC75, the GL Fast Forces pack, and the upcoming War of Light Fast Forces pack (http://www.previewsworld.com/catalog.../STK463934.jpg).
That's 6 from Arkham Asylum (impressive quantity for a single team in a single set!), 13 or so from DC75 (and that isn't even counting Mongul or the White Lanterns), 6 from the GL Fast Forces, and 6 more from the War of the Light Fast Forces pack. That's 6+13+6+6, which equals 31 pieces. And in my quote, I actually forgot to mention the GL Micro-Set (10 more pieces), the Blackest Night Fast Forces pack (7 pieces), or which would bring the total to a whopping 48 pieces without even bothering to count the white and black lantern characters, the Green Lantern duos from Brave and the Bold, or the Lantern objects from Brave and the Bold.
You guys kinda called me on using "an extraordinary amount of love" to describe 6 characters, when I was actually indicating 31, and should have been indicating 48.
While I don't disagree that we could use a few more here and there, I am unable to accept the notion that that particular corner of the DCU is suffering from any kind of neglect in this game.
Thanks for pointing that out, I stand corrected.
From Batman: Alpha up to Superman, we've had about 79 Batman-related characters and 75 Lantern-related characters. With the three Batman sets coming up, I expect that the numbers for Batman characters will jump over 150 since Alpha. I think that Batman and his supporting characters deserve the attention, but I certainly wouldn't say that Green Lantern, who has been on the rise ever since Johns rebooted him, has seen an "extraordinary" amount of love. Given how well GL and Blackest Night sold, I'm surprised we haven't seen a full-sized Lantern set yet. That's practically neglect!
I know nothing about No Mans Land, and I am not a Batman fan. Personally I'd have loved a COIE event, but wonder if that's too far in the past? That being said, I'll reserve any kind of negative criticism for this event until I know exactly what it is. It could turn out to be absolutely fantastic.

Reason: wow, spelling error was fugly
Trade to Canada. We're friendly, and we love Beavers..........
Zero interest in participate in a "No man's land" event (and i'm a big DC fan)...
But an "Infinite Crisis" event would have ruled.
Edit: After thinking carefully... MAYBE "No man's land" was choose by WK to contrast the "cosmic-oriented" theme with a street/alley maps but... In the end... I don't like Batman but i wish they make a good event.
The whole breaking of the Batman storyline (Knightfall?) could have been really good.
We could have gotten a crippled Bruce Wayne figure. :P (Actually, I'd kinda like a Tengu-Mask Batman.)
Seriously, it's a pretty straight-forward story with some good potential for new/remake figures.
Batman was chosen because... well, because its Batman. As much as you guys ask for Lantern stuff, many of us are kinda burned out on Lanterns. Also keep in mind that the point of the events is not to appease you guys, but to be interesting enough to draw in new players. Some venues, such as mine, it seems to have worked. Across town, not so much, though attendance is up at all of them regardless.
But, in the end, there is nothing in DC more iconic that Batman's utility belt. No man's land was chosen because, while not Batman's most recognized story, it certainly is a big one, and it lends itself well to the experiment they are going to try with the WES registry. Also, it allows for the iconic villains to be utilized as exciting prizes, since they control these territories in ravaged Gotham.
While there are other events that could have worked, sure, this one does make sense, especially given the timing with the Batman movie, and its not like they can't go back and do a Crisis themed event or something later down the line. Maybe you can get the Lantern Rings-themed event (which was probably the second best option) during the year Green Lantern 2 comes out.
The Inhuman of Team Vegas,
Black Bolt of the Vegas Illuminati
I am surprised we didn't get one of these years ago as a Batman variant. It's always seemed like a natural to me. I suspect more people read the comics that featured Bruce wearing the Mask of Tengu than there are people who've read the Batman-as-vampire comics.
...now, if we can just get Professor Pyg confirmed.

Back in the early days, when we were getting a Superman and Batman variant as a unique in each set, I may have actually bet money that we were going to get a Tengu Mask Batman in one of the upcoming sets.

I would be all over a Knightfall event. I would include Knightquest and Knightsend as well. A new Azrael and Az-Bats? Yes please a million times over. The only problems I see with multiple Bruce figures is that it's the same character and there are only so many variations you can do from that storyline. The dials would get very repetitive and I love Batman.
How bout Justice League vs Predators. They've shown multiple times that Aliens and Predators are in the DC universe. I'd live with the Horrorclix sculpts redone for Heroclix vs JL. Superman Alien, Killer Croc Alien, Joker Alien, Batman Vs Predators or Aliens, Superman vs Aliens, GL vs Aliens...
I'm a big miffed that DC doesn't get a Resource as powerful as the IG, but hey, maybe they can figure out a way to make the belt as broken as the gauntlet, so there are at least options. :P
