I'm completely divorced from this discussion otherwise. My involvement begins and ends with the fact that I've been reading the thread out of boredom, but this . . .

I'm sorry, but what? You don't need to back up the claims your very argument is based on just because we're on an online forum? That is in no way whatsoever a way to hold a constructive, rational conversation. You're basically saying "Well I'm right and you're just a troll if you ask me to back up the claims I'm making."

Which, funny enough, paints the exact opposite picture, if anything.

I am not going through all these threads to find the examples. I don't really care enough to go find them. The people who attack just do it out of........ lets leave it at that.

Yes I do agree it does paint a picture that I am just making things up. To those that don't go on HCR a lot but I have much better things to do then look through all theses threads to find examples.

Y'know, just for the sake of it, I decided to do a quick search for "Monster," and from there, I found the Dracula/Vampire preview. I decided to read through all 12 pages of that thread, to see all of this negativity towards the monsters - I mean, since you have such better things to do than prove your own arguments (but not, I note, to refrain from having them in the first place; but I digress):

So let's count here. Out of 12 pages, I counted 4 posts that are negative - though I might have missed one or two, the rest of the thread was basically pure excitement. That's not a good ratio for your argument, so far. Even further, only three of the four directly relate to the monsters themselves, with one thinking that the Wild Dials are a stupid gimmick - your argument is looking weaker and weaker, I'm afraid.

From those three - oh, look, you were the first one! Well, that must be a bummer. Let's see, that means the final tally comes out to say, of 12 pages for the Dracula preview, we have two people other than yourself directly disapproving of the monsters in the set, and one that found the Wild Dials to be a stupid gimmick.

I did another quick search for "Horror" while I was typing this, incidentally - found the Werewolf/by Night preview, and a question on what the "Marvel Horror" in ASM was referring to. Not a word of negativity in those threads - not about the monsters themselves, at any rate. In the Werewolf thread, there was negativity about the Full Moon trait ("Wait, I could potentially take two clicks of damage on turn 1 because of that? That plus the unpredictability probably mean these aren't going to be top-tier . . .") but that's not the same. Heck, the question about what "Marvel Horror" meant involved a few posts along this line:

Now, I admit, that's all of three threads. There've undoubtedly been more threads on the subject since there's been more previews than just those two, if nothing else.

But based on those threads alone? Your statement that "a lot of people" are mad that the monsters ate up so much of their precious Spidey-space isn't exactly shaping up too well.

Let it go. People are entitled to their beliefs, and if it's private, that means you're not at liberty discuss it in a public forum, so we'll move along from there.

Nope, I'm not embarrassed at all, nor was that an attack. You made a strange claim and never backed it after being asked several times. Now, I did at one point think you were being sarcastic (hence the troll comment), but now I'm back to thinking you are actually being serious and just don't have any valid evidence for your claim. I still have not seen ONE poster "dumping on Spider-Man" in favor of the monsters as you claimed that people are doing.

It would be like if I made a post saying "Manchine is a big meanie and was picking on people for liking Superman" (or whatever character you want to insert instead), provided no posts that backed it up, and said that everyone was trolling or attacking me when they asked me to back up my claim.

You can't start a thread focusing on how bad a set is without facts. Private discussions don't hold much weight when you're the only one who can verify them and public record doesn't support what you're claiming.

And I really don't think any of this is personal attacks. It's more like how you're choosing to frame your opinions, then getting really defensive when people point out flaws in the logic....

I've always considered Combat Reflexes to be a power for characters with close comabt training, martial artists and the like.

That's not Spider-Man. In fact, I think Spider-Man is a lot harder to hit at range than up close in the comics.
