You'll still have sets with vastly undercosted units for at least two years after the faction abilities are introduced. The only way to not have that problem is to make one of the abilities to be a crippling weakness that balances the others out completely. Of course, then people would complain mightily about that.
Also remember that Sea Fox has a whopping 3 units. Who knows how slow they will creep into the expansions, I wouldn't get overly thrilled about their faction abilities yet. One is super rare they said.. so you'll be lucky to get sayu.. 1 unit. :)
fleabitfox
If I remember right, there are 2 Sea Fox units, and me want both.
Sigh Just when it was a bit okay to play Heavy mechs, now it's time to revert back to Agility only mechs again.
The way I see it, until retirement a player using a CJF mech only has use the plethora of fast infantry or small vehicles to tie of the target so low defense mechs like Trovic dont get shot.
ATV's, Schimitar's, and Fox Armoured cars are all speedy and cheap enough to do the trick.
Bleargh........ We will never see the prevalence of ranged combat, ever, I fear.
Looking it over- Does EI apply only to mechs?
While the fluff mentions Mech Pilots, the actual rules dont specify.
I hope this isn't a direct copy of the "official" rule sheet

That's entirely a matter of opinion. Quite a few of the new books are right on par with the older series, including the one that quote is from. Regardless of your opinion, though, the books are still canon.
Wizkids seems to use the novels as a way to explain their ####ed up rules. With the quote, and in many other books.
Example, in Fortress of Lies the author makes a pain staking effort to explain WHY mechs are so few, you need tanks, and WHY mechs can be killed by virtually anything else.
Merciless isn't a problem because dfa has a fairly short range and you can get close if just use fast infantry to tie the mech down. Just always have a backup plan.
I heard from one of the people who works for Fanpro that during the Jihad, the Jade Falcons where hit very hard by the Word of Blake. They have in doing caused the JF to move away from the traditional clan style of fighting. They nolonger care about civilian targets or military and use savagary on the battlefield no matter what to win. So the earlier talk about close combat with clanners is out the window with the JF.
yes nick but you would have to break THEN DFA the next turn.
A little thought on ZB(Im not going to try to spell it)
All you have to do is base up the JF with a fast moving Elite Infantry (Hint SC CBA) not only can they not do anything except break and pray it doesnt base them again BUT if they hit it THEY HAVE TO CONTINUE HITTING IT UNTIL ITS DEAD. Hence Hit And charge in a few mech on the Vehicles and mechs and Chew up infantry with a couple of infantry that you can spare. It just like screwing with Laio (On of my fav things to do) They have to continue hitting a green unit until its and and that give you AMPLE time to waste them with Vet units..
Just a thought then again I am crazy....
Another little thing. To all the people that are complaing about JF's Ability to roll an extra d6 chew on this. Just bait them in with a easy to hit mech decent distance mech (SC Mjnolir and what not) keep some fast chargers in the distance and Pound in on them the moment the move in. Theres nothing brokw qith these rules if you USE STRATEGY TO BEAT YOUR OPPONENTS...
one last thing..
I talked with that BM again and he Said he wasnt sure if it was FP or the next base set that will be coming out that would have a romurs faction abilitys for all the factions but he was sure that he read something about it.. I sure adn heck hope he is just pulling my chain but it would be intresting if he was serious =)
Originally posted by David Wilson I can see it now - all the chargemonkeys, who used to play Arnis

Anyone else get the image of a mechanized, green flying monkey from the Wizard of Oz crashing down on an Atlas with an average attack roll?
