Great Job WK. Hats off to you guys for listening and responding to our concerns. The three biggest problem are now more realistic and I think this will make the game much better.
shyness.... if you took the PoWB then you could only cross the terrain considering the fact that you could never stay in it...rendering useless and not to mention you need to be IN the terrain to even get the bonuses the PoWB gives such as +2 to defense and the +3 to speed when you started in water terrain so in effect one turn PoWB won't work.
I believe it should be tweaked like the Feather plate relic is... allows for the :aquatic: movement but not all of :aquatic: 's movement... for instance the feather plate allows for :wing: movement except the fact that you can not soar... so... why couldn't PoWB be restricted to shallow water?...you still get the bonuses but can not go into deep water... but before you say that the PoWB should then be called "potion of shallow water breathing" (courtesy of Kumanchu ;)) Then I ask should Feather plate be called "clipped wing plate"? Nothing really changes except one limitation that resricts it from being too powerful. So yeah, limiting PoWB to shallow water isn't really going to hurt the item some and it still leaves the Deep water for those beloved :aquatic: that really do need it.
Great Job WK! you have at least a 2/3rd realm approval of the changes... and I agree with 1nf1n1ty about the fact that it takes some courage to change that much at once...
IMHO I see that WK waited til Nats to seriously see what was the dominating relic-figure-terrain-domain were before changing... Then make the changes.... No one really even posted a whole lot on SM before Nats...mostly it was K-bow and rage hammer and somehow SM went under the majority of the realmers "broken" radar and no, foresight of the issue doesn't increase the number of threads on the issue...there wasn't that many, if any, threads on the SM 2 damage decimating the scene before NATS... there were tons AFTER nats, but not before. the Point is if the FAQ like this came out before Nats...SM would not have been FAQ'd IMHO... Realms or no Realms, WK HAD to wait and SEE what was really a problem in the PTB perspective and they did that at Nats which was the "Lab rat tourny" for WK and we all passed with flying colors. In short WK did a WotC Skullclamp shutdown but without "banning" ... reporting problems is one thing...seeing it in the flesh is a whole different ballpark (altough I would say this shouldn't be needed...but even the Great PTB of WotC use this method to determine faulty issues with the game....
I am devastated by the change in rage hammer. :mad: I had one of the best combos ever... or atleast a great one. I would give the rage hammer to Ironwolf w/the domain tezla's avatar in play. This makes ironwofl have a set 3 damage and an added 1 for 4, then with impale to make 6 damage. Doubled with the second attack part of rage hammer, that deals a grand total of 12 damage. NOW I CAN'T DO IT!!!
There still is another great combo though. Have Neph Pike use elven dueling blade and add some items to boost back her defense. She already has a 4 attack bonus, so she can beat any roll, almost, and can deal a load of pushing damage. Sadly I don't have Neph Pike:( .
guys.... the rage hammer was beatable true.... BUT... it should NEVER have had the capability to take out a non-calvary unit in one attack... 6 damage is one thing.... dealing out 13 in one attack (via MC/C) even Kossak can not survive that attack.... so IMHO.... it needs to be changed. Its a great combo sure.... but seriously that much damage isn't fair no matter what arguement you place on the table...
1. About that soaring thing. So far when you leveled yourself down you could only move your half speed, and couldn't make an attack. Now, you can level down without an action, and then move your FULL speed, and MAKE AN ATTACK! Is that right? Beause if it so, this stinks!!!
2. Storm Maul Stinks!!! At least modifí the second ability to this: Giv the wielder a special action. Deal 3 damage to ALL figures in base contact with this one. This way the Maul would be a little more useful, but of course you should lower the point cost with at least 20 points.
