I'm just waiting to see if they'll do things like make us use the aces game(as in part of the setup rules). eg. We have a aces combat first and any KO'd fig don't get into the air till second or (eep) third turn.
Either way I like the aces figs and if I don't use them they'll be hanging around my PC anyway.
As it is unless I can get someone to go halves in the first aces set I'll and a "waste" plane and ace right off the bat.
Glad to be of assist, I was almost getting depressed about CS tonight thinking I was the only one in my area wanting to play but chatting a guy today looks like there might be a few of us. WHEEEE!! <does a happy dance>
Hey Ghostie, Your not the only one in your area, there is another and another and another or is that a nutter. Anyway I'm sure there will be plenty of CS being played on Friday nights at RMIT and Mind Games.
Good idea, Maybe I can change their minds about how they think CS won't sell. I will have to buy 2 of each CS items besides the rules pack. That way I can have a sealed and open version to play with, plus that will help support my venue.
I can't see the Ace game being particularly fun- maybe if they release generic thugs and such but to have a couple pilots 'duke it out'... seems lame to me.
I agree with you Stripwalker, just two aces duking it out would be as exciting as watching paint dry.
But.....
I hope WK are planning to make up generics like thugs, mechanics, zepplin crewmen, agents etc. 'cause then the scenarios would be a great part of the game.
Gosh think of the 3D playing areas you could knock up using some old 1/48 TESTORS 30's racers models sitting on the airfield, there are plenty of 25-28mm, 1/43-1/50 scale car and small truck models available for props.
Aircraft models of CS planes wouldn't be that hard to scratch out of Basla and Plastic Card plus a few bits out of the spares box.
Other ideas, you could use old GW Space Hulk floor tiles for inside zepplins or secret underground hideouts, or even scratch build walls and floors with cardboard/foamcore.
If WK do expand on the figure aspect, games would have that "Indiana Jones" or "Rocketeer" feel. just like the old weekly Matinees that used to feature at Cinemas before TV's were around.
Each scenario of a Campaign could be called/numbered as an "Episode" with a "tune in next week for the exciting conclusion" type ending.
Either way my wife and I only head in on Wednesdays (Wednesday nights only lately due to Uni), but if CS is gonna be played on Friday I may have to see what I can work out.
Oh and from what I understand the "tokens" you get in the rules pack will be generics used in the Aces game. I imagine it will probably say "thug" and list one set of stats one hit and they're out.
forget the Space hulk floor tile, most of us dont have them anyway...Wizkids is releasing 3d Dungeons floor tiles
i have a demo set, and they are INCREDIBLY useful. and pretty reasonably priced as opposed to say, Dwarven Forge's similar resin product.
as far as generic thugs bar denizens etc.. WK prolly wont spend the money to have them sculpted, cast, and produced. Reportedly they will be represented by tokens,,, buts where I plan to replace these with HC generics repainted.
Hey tokens is fine by me- as long as my ace can beat 'em down- like Oddball said, it opens up a whole new genre for us to play with. So many positive vibes ;)
