I'm sorry but I've been an anime fan for many many years now and you cannot say that everything that ends up being played on Cartoon Network is bad anime.
FLCL's first disk came out over a year before they showed it on CN. I owned it then and I loved it then, it's not my or the anime's fault for bring picked up by a cartoon channel.
The same goes for Trigun and Cowboy Bebop. Picked them both up when they first came out and loved them both. Bother were out 2 years or more before Cartoon Network even spread the rumor about picking them up.
I'm sure there are others on CN that I would feel the same about, I just cannot remember off the top of my head.
So, now that i've said my peace on this rather off topic discussion, I go.
Maybe some kind of Sentinel swarm using Senator Kelly multiple times. At the end of it all, though, we still have someone claiming that they have a sure fire winner type broken deck, while someone else thought they did but found out that they were wrong, through a rules misunderstanding or something. We still don't know as a whole what either of these decks are, so someone is going to have to prove it before I believe them.
I'm sure that some deck or two that someone throws together may surprise some people in some early tournaments, but after the game is played on a larger scale, the counter-measures will become known and more people will start using them.
I think that someone may be disappointed when they realize that their deck is not as invincible as they thought because of a misunderstanding, but this is where greed sets in. Why tell everyone what you've figured out when you can earn some $$$? Balance the money versus the possibility that you are wrong, and the money usually wins.
WarHulk said it: just because it's on mainstream cable and gains a huge swarm of lemmings doesn't mean it is any less good. FLCL is the best thing ever broadcast. Ever. Now, if we could just get Upper Deck to include it in an expansion...
Originally posted by Siege Surfer- you missed some posts, it was based on a wrong ruling; whatever it was is illegal.
The one deck was, I referenced it, but the OP still has not told anyone what they have, so it is still being touted as a near broken, sure-fire winner, with no hint as to what it contains, and by the nature of being broken, abuses.
For all we know they plan on using Heroes United then repeatedly attack using Cosmic Radiation and Xavier's School which is completely illegal, but since they wanted to do nothing more than ultimately tell us that there is a broken deck out there, and it's going to beat us, there isn't much we can do.
Personally, I think this thread is a waste right now. It started with some thanks-for-nothing posts, and now we are talking anime. The OP remains silent. I am not going to try to pry any info out of him, so until he decides that his "I've got a secret and I'm not telling" thread is going to become a "Does this work?" thread, what's the point? Everything is off-topic, so I'll do my part to make this go away and not post here anymore.
If you specifically want to reply to anything that I've said here, feel free to PM me, so that this thread will fade into oblivion, instead of repeatedly getting bumped to the top.
Later.:classic:
Repeat after me: "There is no such thing as a crappy thread."
(Or should it be "There is no such thing as a broken VS. deck."?)
This thread is an example of what this community is "up against"... there are many who just want to have fun sharing and laughing about the game. There are also many who act like they are "real players" that are above those who want to have fun. I say we have room for both. If you came to this thread for a serious discussion of some new broken tech, sorry. We have all come to realize that there is no such thing in VS. Of course, this weekend's PCQs might prove us all wrong... but I doubt it. With only a handful of other games this good to compare, we have sneaking suspicions that there is some combo we have missed and we keep waiting for it to pop up here on the best site in the world. So far the game is unbreakable. Shouldn't we be able to laugh about that?
Of course we should. Yes, I'm posting where I said that I wouldn't, but I don't want to give people the idea that I'm some hard-core if it ain't serious it ain't worth discussing type of person.
Yes, we may find out that there is a broken deck, but I doubt it.
And for what it's worth, and maybe it's because I haven't really kept up with the latest stuff, but I've always liked Project A-Ko.
By the way, are we ever going to be enlightened regarding the broken deck that wasn't?
We will never know what started this thread. I am sure there will be plenty of bandwagon "That was my deck." stuff after this weekend, but unless we hear about it before Saturday it will be impossible to prove.
Im kinda disappointed that I wont be seeing any pro tour action up here in Canada, although there is talk amongst my friends and its becoming likely that Ill head down for GenCon in August. Hopefully I can make it... and hopefully my girlfriend will let me go. lol. :P
