Get your facts straight.
I am perfectly successful at this game. I want to be a writer/casual playboy. I got that down pat. Would I have played Multiple Man Avengers Team Attack in Atlanta if I wanted to be you? You'll never have the balls to do that.
You actually take up less than 1% of my posts, but I actually post a lot so you will have to go past the first page:
There's a reason that you play multiple men and the rest of us play for $40k
When we (Donkey Club, or pretty much anyone serious about their game) come to the Pro Circuit, we do so to make money playing the game we love. When you, or anyone else for that matter, come to play at the highest level, you have to follow the rules, both written and unwritten, have have been established.
I don't write about whats acceptable at your kitchen table, don't write about whats acceptable at our PCs.
You used to be one of my favorite people in the game. We need people that are willing to share different ways to play the game. I write articles about what I know, how to win at the highest levels. You write about what you know, 1 drop army characters and different cool interactions in the game.
You talk about your "partying" all over the internet. Well you're crashing our party and we don't like it.
I'm a little late to the party, but I guess it doesn't matter.
I don't think it matters that much because I'll bet anyone that by PC San Fran Donkey Club with either be no more or significantly smaller. There's only so much room for ego on a single team, and I just don't see the Clubhouse borders as being big enough to contain all of it.
When a super-team begins to snatch up any member who shows promise/minimal success, then you know there's a problem. My opinion is Donkey Club is bad for VS, but by the time it matters they won't exist any longer.
In general though, the reason pro super-teams are bad for VS is because it creates an even greater distance between the 'upper class' and the 'lower class' of VS players. The scrubs are ignored, the famous get more attention and more money, the middle class of semi-succesful competitive players disappears, and in the end only the select few top players get any of the publicity.
I specifically remember Spears saying that he 'remembered me from the 2nd pod' when one of my teammates mentioned me to him. The second he opened his mouth I knew he didn't give a #### who I was or how I was doing, and he probably just dismissed me as another scrub when he saw me in the draft pod.
This is a very cynical way of looking at it, but I just can't see it any other way. Most of the pros aren't out there to make the game better or to educate the common player, they're out their to make money for themselves and themselves alone. Sure, they might form a temporary alliance with other players and create a 'team,' but in the end the only thing that matters is how much money they get at the end of the day.
I'm not saying ALL pros do this; some are very helpful to the overall state of the game, but all I can see lately is greed and elitism in the known personalities of this game. I still have hope that things can and will get better after a while, but for the time being things don't look as great as they could be.
Originally posted by En-Kur And for the record, no offense to Alex but I doubt I'd ever advise anyone to concede to him. For some reason I don't like him even though he hasn't done anything to me personally. Maybe Dalton can shed light on it because I ##### to him all the time about Alex.
If it helps Dave, I'm not entirely sure why I don't like you either, given I don't really know you. This was not the reason I voted against you joining FTN, for the record; so if you took that personally, you shouldn't.
I trust I didn't let it show when you were with us anyway; I always want my teammates to do well. When Mark Viduka wears the middlesbrough shirt, I still want him to score.
(FYI, I don't ##### to anyone about you though, so it's possible you dislike me much more than I do you. ;) I take most things outside of politics and governance fairly unseriously though).

Rian, this is why you and Kergy lose all credibility when you spout stuff like "journalistic integrity." Your facts are only as accurate as whatever vague point you are currently trying to make. I love having these "debates" with you but please try to keep everything factual. Don't put words in my mouth. Tice wasn't in that 10k at the PC so that was one we gave to someone else. Learn to read.
-lol- don't lump me in with stu - we're different animals - he goes from one direction and I go from the other.
EDIT: 'HTML tags'? What means 'HTML tags'? I know not of such things...

Adam, you have a point. I apologize to the rest of The Donkey Club. I had issues with Dave, and I grouped you all together in lashing out. Dave stood up to it, like he always does, and we talked it out. I feel better now, sorry for the ruckus. I still think it's way too big to be a team, but I wish you all the best.

While I didn't see you as a random scrub, you are right, I probably didn't care how you were doing. If you were in my pod, then I was probably wallowing in self loathe for doing so poorly at the PC. My mood at the PC is based entirely on my performance. They are not fun to me at all. Not like 10ks or pcqs. I hope I wasn't rude to you. Hell, if I remember correctly Mike French was in our pod and even though we are sworn enemies online I gave him a high five. If you felt I was rude to you, then I apologize. While I might not have been genuinely concerned with you, I hope I was at least pleasant.
