Instead make a house rule that any one who wants to play some broken deck has to take a kick right to "the boys" from the youngest kid playing in the tournament (preferably wearing orthopedic shoes). Then if that player can still play by game time he deserves to play whatever deck he wants. Its a win/win situation! You have the satisfaction of knowing that there is a chance this guy will not create more little net decking offspring and he is going home in a serious amount of pain, while the player gets his EA Enemy's or Mobilize or whatever. I would call that a fair exchange.
And if this player who wants to play a broken deck happens to be a girl....Let her do it! Her winning might bring more girls to play....see win/win!
There's this kid that frequents the Bay Area VS Scene by the name of Matt Hunt - maybe he has a brother called Mike?
(If you have read my other tournament reports, this is the OMAC Robots
kid who never plays Ahmed or Enemy.)
Every time I see this kid, I am tempted to throw him one of the random tier one decks in my bag. But nope! He won't have it. He takes the beats, he smiles and he soldiers on.
I desperately want this kid to pick up Ahmed or Enemy. He's always getting trounced on by the flavor of the month and he deserves to win.
More then that, if he doesn't start winning...
He's not going to stay.
(I realize 'no Ahmed/Enemy = lose' is horribly inaccurate, but I hope my sentiment is understood here.)
Honestly, there's only so many times you can lose before you quit a game. This doesn't have anything to do with game being good or bad, it has to do with people: In our world of instant gratification, people no longer wait things out because they don't need to.
Back to my point: While I do think aceswolf should work on his usage of the English language and stop listening to My Chemical Romance, I totally feel where he's coming from.
(It's also pretty f'd up how you guys are kicking a man when he's down.)
For most of you guys, these tournaments are just a chance to play and win. For those of us who are running these things it's more then that.
Seeing people come to these tournaments is an incredible validation of our time. Sure, it's nice to see your VS friends and whatever, but what we really want to see are new people.
While you guys are rooting for yourself and your buddies, we're rooting for everyone so they'll come in next time and bring in more people.
The last thing we want to see is some kid getting TDC'd out of a game and deciding to quit. That completely destroys the whole point of why we're putting out free time to help do this. We love our game and we want to see this game grow and grow.
Now, in a tournament, I understand that all bets are off. Even then... I don't know, maybe it's a west coast vs east coast thing, but I always assumed there was a gentleman's understanding that you don't play the most ridiculous deck - that's how it's been in the Bay Area at least.
Because really, just because you don't like how Ace is saying what he's saying doesn't mean you should ignore his points.
UDE please do something? As sad as it is to say this... maybe it's time to let TPS go? He's in like... one fair deck and in like fifty unfair ones.

Hey, I am connected to unicorns quite often for good reason... but you are skipping over the facts.
The deck he is ballistic about was built by Savage Tofu. He is no donkey.
It was a tournament, so all bets were off. EA Mobilize off.
aceswolf's point is null in the first place because it is utter jank that has only won a single HOBBY LEAGUE tournament ever. Ever. No Rare Ever, actually.
It was a Random Punks format that is over, and may never come back. And it deserves this type of bile?
The deck runs Kole. Hello? TDC should have never passed your lips.
I dunno; TDC always plays these very un-interactive decks so I figured that would be the perfect adjective. I didn't literally meant they built it.
As for your point... I'm not saying that they shouldn't have played the best decks. You're right it was a tournament - I acknowledged that.
All I'm saying is that aceswolf perspective has merit. I understand why he feels the way he does, and I certainly don't think he deserves the 7 pages of uber hate that seems to have been directed at him.
We should be celebrating this deck. It does things that no deck has ever done before. It blasted a hole the size of Kansas in New England, taking both Random Punks tournaments. It is a massive acheivement for Savage Tofu and we will enjoy it properly later. For now, it's a damn shame that it caused this messy meltdown.
You guys lay off Aceswolf he is a great guy who just wants to play for fun, and everyone who wasn't there you don't know the exact situation so lay off.

I agree, and it will be sad to lose him if it ever comes to that... but can you see how things have calmed down since he stopped posting?
He was slapping people pretty hard today, he started the whole thing by saying he was going to slap the #### out of the guy playing the Kole deck, and people slapped back. Now we can all stop slapping.
Just so everyone knows the reason he is no longer posting is because he has quit. He sent me and I'm assuming a few other people a message saying that he quit. Seriously people he is a great guy and everyone attacking him just added to him wanting to quit. He was just venting in the beginning but the attacks changed that. For those of you who attacked him and pushed him to quit, you may have just ruined all the HL in Mass, and caused many people to quit the game, since he was teaching many people, and gave them a reason to play. With him gone there might be just 3 VS players left in Mass who play in HL events and such, down from over 10.
so then quit. id imagine the six others that quit because of your departure will be balanced out by the 12 that start up just because they don't have to listen to the dyslexic garbage man complain about playing aganst "broken" decks.
Thats ####ed up. Despite the flaws the Mike, neigh, everyone has, he is a great man; Vs. needs more people like him. He has invested thousands into this game and gives what little time he has to growing the Vs. community. Him quitting would be a tragedy.
Mike, I know you're discouraged now but don't quit, you're the last person I would expect to quit. This game needs you.
