He’s not even in this episode: SIDELINE ACTIVE: When an opposing character uses Outwit or Perplex, roll a d6. On a result of 5 or 6 ignore that use of Outwit or Perplex. I didn’t do it, Jones!: When an adjacent friendly character would become the target of Outwit or Perplex they may choose Red Herring to become the target instead.
Come back here you brat….(Sidestep)
That’s not very funny….(Toughness)
Hah! What a weenie!…..(Close Combat Expert)
Significant Appearance: A Bicycle Built for Boo! (A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, 1988)
Can’t get more amateur than a kid, right? While Red may have been a small time bully, he was an all time champ at being wildly accused of things.

"THIS WAS ALWAYS THE PLAN, STARK": At the beginning of the game, generate a Yinsen bystander. // When Yinsen is KO'd, after resolutions you may give Tony Stark 2 Box of Scraps tokens, then KO him. Protected: Pulse Wave. MY TURN: When Tony Stark would be KO'd, instead you may remove a Box of Scraps token to replace him with a character named "Iron Man" of 100 points or less on their last non-KO click, then heal that character 1 click for each of Tony Stark's Box of Scraps tokens. This game, that character can't be replaced or healed by other effects. Protected: Pulse Wave. "TONY STARK WAS ABLE TO BUILD THIS IN A CAVE! WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS!": POWER: Remove an adjacent object from the game. If you do, give Tony Stark a Box of Scraps token. If it was a nonstandard object, give him 2 Box of Scraps tokens instead. After resolutions, you may KO Tony Stark.

Movement: Elevated, Blocking
Power For The Crimson Stone!: When Death KOs an opposing character, you may bring a character on your Sideline he shares the Castlevania keyword with into the game on their lowest starting line in your starting area. If the KO'd character was 100 points or more, or had the Monster keyword, you may bring the character in the game on click 1 instead.
The Grim Reaper: Willpower. When Death KOs an opposing character with an attack, he is not assigned an action token when the action resolves (But may still not take another non-free action this turn).
DESIGN NOTES: I'm aware the pic doesn't look like he does in gameplay, I had a hard time finding a good reference image for Castlevania Death "period", let alone from Lament of Innocence.
Speaking of, he's quoted from this particular game for the end-game plot-twist, where he was using Leon Belmont (The game's hero) to kill an exceptionally strong vampire to fuel the Crimson Stone for his master. It's complicated to explain without going overboard on spoilers even if it is a very old game by now, but the gist of it is the Crimson Stone gives the bearer the pros and cons of vampirism but also increases their power as the stone has more (and stronger) vampire souls gathered in it, and Death was serving the one who had the Crimson Stone for reasons not fully explained.
TL;DR: Death still serving Dracula (Before he took the name Dracula) in a reboot of the Castlevania series. Death serves as game's final boss for a change. Death can use the souls of the vanquished to fuel Dracula's power, explaining the trait.
Begin landing your troops. You may build your team with more B1 Battle Droids than you have Starting Zone spaces. At the beginning of your turn, place any B1 Battle Droids you paid for, and that have not been KO’d this game, in your Starting Zone. Continue placing B1 Battle Droids in this manner until all of your B1 Battle Droids have been placed.
Droid Control Ship: A B1 Battle Droid may only use it’s Attack and Defense special powers if there is another friendly character of 50 points or more on the map.
Relentless advance. FREE: MOVE.
Open fire! Increase the Attack value of B1 Battle Droid by +1 for each other B1 Battle Droid adjacent to it.
How well do you think one Jedi will hold up against a thousand battle droids? When B1 Battle Droid would be KO’d, roll a D6. If you roll a 4-6, instead of being KO’d, place that B1 Battle Droid in your Starting Zone or adjacent to a friendly character in your Starting Zone.
Roger. Roger. Enhancement, but as POWER.

Bound To 963: -SIDELINE ACTIVE- Dr. Bright is not a standard character. At the beginning of the game, assign Dr. Bright to a friendly character. When a character is assigned Dr. Bright, that character's name is now "Dr. Bright", loses all keywords, gains Dr. Bright's keywords, and may use any powers shown on his dial. Replace any instance of that character's name with "Dr. Bright" on their card.
Characters assigned Dr. Bright cannot be equipped. // At the end of your turn, turn Dr. Bright's dial once counter-clockwise. If Dr. Bright would be turned past click 4, instead turn his dial to click 1. // When a modifier is revealed on Dr. Bright's dial, the assigned character modifies the specified combat value by that much. The Newest Face of Jack Bright: When the character Dr. Bright is assigned to KOs an opposing character, you may instead KO the assigned character. If you do, both characters are scored normally. Turn the opposing character to their last non-KO click, roll a d6, and heal them for half of the result. For the rest of the game, this character is friendly to your force and is assigned Dr. Bright. // When the assigned character is KO'd by an effect other than this trait, choose another character friendly to your force. At the beginning of your next turn, Dr. Bright becomes assigned to that character.
Significant Appearance: SCP Foundation canon, particularly entry SCP-963.
Design Notes: Jack Bright is a bit of a fun character that I wanted to give a crack at making. This dial combines elements of some of my favorite resources from the past in regards to the Entities and the Penguin, but I wanted to attempt making a piece that can "possess" opposing characters in a somewhat fair way. Dr. Bright is effectively a consciousness bound to an amulet that overwrites that of whoever happens to be wearing it, and thus I attempted to make a power that properly signifies a beaten-down opponent having it forced onto them.
Movement: Ignores, Destroys Blocking Terrain With Doc Ock's Tentacles, I'll be Unstoppable!: Giant Reach: 2. Sidestep. FREE: Choose an opposing character Rhinoctopus can make a close attack against. Make an attack roll. If the roll succeeds, you may place the targeted character in any square within Rhinoctopus's Giant Reach. Thinks He Can Steal My Tentacles, Does He?: If the opposing team has a character named "Doctor Octopus", "Dr. Octopus", or "Doc Ock", that character can use Mind Control, but only to target Rhinoctopus. Whoa. These Arms Are Hard to Control! : Once per turn, Rhinoctopus must make an attack against the nearest character as FREE, even if that character is friendly. Rhino Hide and Octopus Arms!: Impervious, Energy Shield/Deflection.
Charge: Watch Out! Rhinoctopus Comin' Through! Plasticity: Can't Escape Me, Spiders! Quake: These Arms Make Me Stronger Than Ever! Precision Strike: I'm Really Gettin' the Hang of This! Impervious: Nothin' Can Stop Me! Invulnerability: Didn't I Just Say That Nothin' Can Stop Me? Shape Change: Doc Ock Is On a Rampage! Perplex: Nope! Not Doc Ock! Rhinoctopus!
I realize it might cost me votes, but I really really wanted to do a Rhino theme this month. Like I said, he's my three-year old's favorite supervillain, and I wanted to honor that.
Our story begins with Rhino and Doc Ock teaming up to rob an armored car. It goes mostly well until the Spidey team shows up and stops Rhino. Doc Ock gets away with the loot, only to be thwarted by, well, her own clumsiness, tripping over an open manhole, causing a cascade of events that sees her defeat herself.
In frustration after Spidey and his team recover the stolen money, Doc Ock berates her tentacles in front of Rhino before throwing them away, proclaiming "I am Doc Ock NO MORE!" (and yes, it is definitely an homage to THAT scene, complete with mirrored imagery and camera angles). Rhino, confused, ponders on this for a moment before deciding exactly what he's going to do with this new opportunity.
And thus, Rhinoctopus is born! He quickly gets to terrorizing New York City, stealing ice cream cones from kids and struggling to figure out how to use the tentacles.
So what we have here is quite simply, Rhino with Doc Ock's capabilities. He's got the giant reach, he can nail multiple targets with Doc Ock's arms, (even though he will accidentally take a swing at his friends in the beginning - it's HARD using these things) he can smash through terrain and be generally difficult to hurt thanks to his Rhino hide and the tentacles blocking shots.
He'd just better hope that Doc Ock isn't on the other side of the field, because she'll come to her senses, with a remote control device to control the tentacles, allowing any opposing Doc Ock (or variations thereof) to control Rhinoctopus's actions.
So some risk-reward mitigates his cost, making him another small investment that can cause a good bit of damage.

Targeting: Destroy Blocking Plan 63-X: Sideline Active: Cyclops can gain Rally Dice while he is part of your Sideline. Rally: Opposing 5: FREE: Remove a Rally die. Choose one: Enhancement, Empower, Precision Strike, Penetrating/Psychic Blast, or Force Blast. Cyclops can use this power until your next turn. Let’s move, X-Men.: Leadership, Perplex. When Cyclops uses Leadership and succeeds, you may place up to two friendly characters that share a keyword with him up to half their speed value from their current square.
Let loose: Ranged Combat Expert
Danger Room Training: Running Shot
Tactical Master: Sidestep
Xavier's First student: Willpower
Krakoan Kevlar: Toughness
Cyke's a low-key favorite of mine. I wanted to do a team-friendly version that shows off him leading a squad and also meet both of the week's criteria, because I'm cheeky like that.
Say Her Name: SIDELINE ACTIVE: Whenever a character rolls a "3" (on a d6) give the character a name token. Modify her attack and defense by 1 for every name token on a character she's attacking or attacking her. 3 times: SIDELINE ACTIVE: When a character receives it's third or more Name token after resolution you may place Bloody Mary adjacent to the figure, remove 3 name tokens and Mary has Immune until it's her turn. If your team isn't Monster or Mystical theme, when she's KO'd shes worth double her points. In a Mirror: Sidestep. If an opposing character has 3 or more Name tokens and is adjacent to a square of blocking terrain or in hindering terrain, Mary may target them with a close attack. She's not real, it's just urban legend: Shape change, Battle Fury, Precision Strike
I'm not really overly familiar with the whole Sideline call in thing so forgive me if the wording is off, I'll correct it.

웃 █ OO> ⦿ █ Trapdoors DOUBLE POWER: Until your next turn, whenever another character ends movement, after resolutions, you may roll a d6. Place that character a number of squares from its current square equal to the result. Now you see me... Shape Change, Stealth. Smoke Cloud as FREE.
SIGNIFICANT APPEARANCE: Batman #657 (2006) CHARACTER BACKGROUND: Architect, escapologist, and illusionist Van Kaliban began a life of crime using his talents to provide “escape insurance” for Gotham City’s criminals. Employing trapdoors, effigies, smoke machines, and other equipment, as the “Spook” Kaliban eluded law enforcement and the Batman while freeing insurees from prison. After only a brief stretch of crimes, the Spook spent most of his remaining criminal career behind bars in Blackgate Penintentiary. When released for good behavior, a humiliated Kaliban attempted to ascend the ranks of the Batman’s rogue’s gallery and become one of the Dark Knight’s principal antagonists. The Spook’s brief resurgence met an abrupt end when Damian Wayne, the Batman’s ostensible 10-year-old son, murdered Kaliban, deciding the Spook's legacy as a third-rate rogue.

Show Them The Meaning Of Haste: KNOCKBACK, Passenger: 1. // Hypersonic Speed. When Shadowfax uses it, he retains Passenger: 1, and the character he is carrying may make an attack instead.
Design Notes: I was tempted to go with Gandalf the Grey instead, as to match it up evenly with the Balrog, but with the given prompt I thought that Gandalf's entrance to the Battle of Helm's Deep was the perfect idea for a SIDELINE ACTIVE. As for the original challenge, I'm going with low budget on this one since the way the movies handled Gandalf's magic was...lackluster to say the least. Other than some Telekinesis and Curse Removal, which while cool aren't really shown off in the movies in a mystical light, our grand wizard here mostly just using Cantrip level spells and a sword. Still badass, but for what's supposed to be one of the strongest beings on Middle Earth, he feels more like a warrior than say Saruman is shown as on screen.

The Game is Afoot: When Sherlock Holmes targets a character, place a Clue token on that character's card. FREE: Move a character a number of squares equal to the number of Clue tokens on its card. Elementary, Dear Watson: When Sherlock Holmes is hit with an attack, both players roll a d6 and your opponent subtracts 1 for each Clue token on the card of the character that attacked. Helljumpers: At the beginning of your game, you may place the Orbital Drop Shock Trooper in your sideline instead on the battlefield. // Any character on your team can use 'POWER: Place an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper from your sideline onto the battlefield, up to six squares away from this character.' But It's Our Dirt, Dammit: Stealth. // If an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper does not start on your sideline, increase their defense statistic by +1 for the rest of the game, unless an enemy character reaches your starting area. Specialist Weaponry: At the beginning of your turn, select one of the following powers at no cost: Energy Explosion, Penetrating/Psychic Blast, Smoke Cloud, Poison. This Orbital Drop Shock Trooper can use that power for the rest of the turn.
First Appearance: Halo, the Fall of Reach (2001)
Notes: At first glance, the ODSTs do not fit the community theater aspect of this month's theming. Being, on paper, elite soldiers with some of the finest war-era UNSC equipment, so awesome that they have their very own orbital personnel deployment style directly built into many UNSC warships, understandably doesn't scream 'made on a budget.'
But that's on paper. In Halo, the ODSTs are heroes, capable ones at that, but they aren't the end-all be-all. Their enemies are aliens, with technology so vastly superior and with a population size that dwarfs all of humanity. By the UNSC's standards, there now exist Spartans, who are superhuman and outclass them in all ways. There's even a part in the first Halo novel, where, when the Master Chief was twelve, he killed or crippled a handful of ODSTs with just a few punches (in self defense, despite it being staged to test the Spartans from an early age).
ODSTs are just human, in a setting where that doesn't mean much. They are the plucky, second-rate commandos of the UNSC. With every lost colony, there was usually a squad or two of ODSTs groundside who, despite their rigorous training or decent equipment, never got off the surface. Those that survive, rarely do it with all their friends. But they fight anyway, and that's why they're great.
If this has sparked any interest, I'd recommend everyone read the short story Dirt. It was in an older Halo shorts collection, but given its smallish nature there's probably a million PDFs around that have it or something. The rest of the collection is really good too, but that's besides the point.
Also, y'know, the whole game dedicated to them.

Targeting: Hindering Non-Lethal, but I’ve heard if you rejigger the controls just right, it could liquify a person’s insides: If Red Hood is equipped with the DC 004 Waynetech Sonic Rifle, when he hits with a ranged attack, he may choose a hit character. The chosen character modifies defense -1 until your next turn. No, see. It’s just the beginning: When Red Hood would be KO'd, you may instead replace him with a character named the Joker from your sideline on it's last non-KO click. If the Joker was KO'd by knockback damage, heal that character 2 clicks. Protected: Pulse Wave. He threatens them, gives them a mask, and now they’re members of the Red Hood: Stealth, Mastermind, Mind Control with 3 targets and Improved Targeting: Characters. We wear the red hood to court the wolf, rather than hide: Shape Change, Leadership, Outwit. When Red Hood uses Outwit, he may choose a friendly character within range and line of fire and draw lines of fire as if he occupied that character's square.
DC004 Waynetech Sonic Rifle
Cost: 10 points
Qualifying Name: Red Hood One
Effect: When this character hits with a ranged attack, after resolutions, knock back a single hit character 3 squares and give them an action token.
Significant Appearance: Batman #21 (2013)
Here's another of my Zero Year dials from my Detective Comics set. I think it they fit the monthly theme pretty well so I'll probably keep doing them. As the "rough draft" for the Joker, Red Hood fits it even better than Dr. Death. Red Hood One is a chase, and synergizes with a number of figures from the set that can use the sideline. These include four 50 point Shifting Focus Jokers, and Red Mask. With Red Hood, Red Mask, and one of the Shifting Focus Jokers and the other three on the sideline you can do some shenanigans.
Red Hood can stand on his own as well, with his Mind Control and Sonic Rifle Equipment letting him start a reign of terror across Gotham that he continues when he becomes the Joker.

Let’s Play A High Stake Game: Probability Control. Whenever a final attack roll results in doubles the attacking character rolls a d6: if the result matches a d6 in the attack roll place that character in its starting area and give it two action tokens. That character has IMMOBILE until the end of its next turn. Take A Chance: FREE: roll a d6 and move Mr. Monopoly or an adjacent character in a direct line a number of squares equal to the result, ignoring the effects of terrain and characters. Passing Go: FREE: Heal 2 clicks, but only if Mr. Monopoly occupies a starting area other than the starting area he occupied the last time this action was given (if applicable).
Rent Is Due (Plasticity)
How About a Trade? (Mind Control)
House and Hotel Builder (Barrier)
Chairman of the Board (Perplex)
Railroad Magnate (Outwit)
Insight
Game players theme continued by another parody character. Had to pull deep from HeroClix Community Theatre Chest. Main things from the game I wanted to crossover were Jail, Passing Go, and uncontrolled destinations. As with the source material it could go either way. I would be cheeky and use houses and hotels from the actual game as my Barrier markers but you do you boo.

Switching Teleport: FREE: Choose two target single based characters and/or terrain markers within 6 squares and line of fire. Place each in the other's current square. Never Stay Still Long Enough To Get Hit: Shape Change, but succeeds on 4-6. When he does, you may choose the new target instead of your opponent and it must be any single based character (instead of just opposing to the attacker) within 4 squares and line of fire of Trickster. Before the attack roll is made, place Trickster and the new target in each other's current square. Breaking Simurgh Quarantine : At the beginning on the game, place 3 Manipulation tokens on Tricksters card. // Once per turn, an opponent may remove a Manipulation token from Trickster and reroll any attack roll.

Growing Mass of Bodies: Legion begins the game on click 8, including if brought in from the Sideline. // If Legion did not start your turn in your Starting Area, Regeneration but heals 1 less, and may heal past it's starting line using it. // When Legion KOs an opposing character -or- rolls a 5-6 using Regeneration, place 1 Body Token on it's character card [MAX: 3]. Mindless One: Only the character that generated this bystander may use Mastermind to transfer damage to it. // SAFEGUARD: Perplex, Outwit. This bystander scores 5 points to your opponent when KO'd, and it is KO'd when the character that generated it is KO'd, Protected: Pulse Wave.
DESIGN NOTES: yeeeaaaah, if Dracula and Death were going to be Starter Set figures, Legion would probably be a Super Rare or something based on what I punched out on the keyboard here. Not for what he offers, but what he has the potential to do, which is beef up and up and make your opponent waste their energy on chipping away at his (It's?) outer shell and the tide of bodies it drops. Legion's biggest threat in the games is simply throwing waves of the dead/mindless at you to waste your efforts on them while you need to deal with the core itself.
But in this dial, it's a strategic choice if you try to keep racking up the tokens for a long reach, or if you need to shed some of them for a meat shield.

I think you may be undervaluing the free rerolls he gives the opponent but I do appreciate the feedback.

Relentless Evolution: When Doomsday is KO’d, place an Evolution token on his card. A the beginning of your turn if Doomsday is in your KO area, you may place him in your starting area on click #1. If Doomsday is the last character on your force when he is KO’d, the game ends. Protected: Pulse Wave.
If Doomsday has at least 1 Evolution token, he has the following effects
1-2: Doomsday’s defense powers have Protected: Outwit.
3-4: Doomsday’s attacks deal penetrating damage.
5: Doomsday has Steal Energy
6 or more: Cosmic Energy
Leaping Monster: Leap/Climb.//When Doomsday uses it and ends his movement adjacent to 1 or more characters, he may make an attack as FREE. Knockback.
Going for the prompt trifecta this week. Here's a monster I wish we were getting in Notorious. He's also got an option to move people around the map if he lands on them, and he can keep coming back if he's KO'd. For the flavor text, if you haven't read the initial Death of Superman comic, Doomsday does not speak at all until very late in the run, when he picks up on a broadcast advertising a pro-wrestling event called War Bash in Metropolis. At that point he kind of mimics the sounds he hears, which utterly terrifies all the heroes because it gives him a target. I always preferred that version of him to the intelligent version we see in JLU. But the art is straight out of Injustice, because I really like that take on him.

NOTES: Okay, so I don't think I'm getting any personal monthly theme points, but I saw this week's prompt and had to drop all other ideas. Marathon is from Bungie's indie days, before they made the juggernaut Halo and the rather successful Destiny series of video games. It's a classic sci-fi first-person shooter, but only a year after the original DOOM, came in packing a story worthy of the pillars of science fiction. It's got 90s humor and edge sprinkled on top a story of looping legacies, ancient sins and high-concept sci-fi - namely, timeline hopping when things go sour.
The story, novel length due to being entirely text, is free to be read on the marathon.bungie.org website, which has been updated and maintained for decades now by passionate fans. The trilogy is also free on alephone.lhowon.org, though they require a degree of patience that would strain most people. They're still fun, however, and anyone who likes Halo or Destiny owe a ton to Marathon - hell, it can be argued they're more one big continuous story, rather than three series.
