Originally posted by raging_madboy I was thinkning, she can't be on a team with " mom" can she? I mean aren't they both uniques with the same name?
Or does that rule only apply to figures from the same set?
Only uniques with the same set and number can't be used together.
Sweet Lord YES!!!!
1 more down, two to go for Excalibur. I'd have liked her to have a longer range with less damage since she shouldn't be able to hit HtH for more than 2.
Anyone crying that she is as broken as Firelord I have one word, Firestorm. Same cost, damage, speed, with 10" range and one less attack value. Only toughness though, no SS. And as far as I know I'm the only who ever plays him in a tournament. So let's not throw out the Firelord references yet.
Very cool. Perplex up that range and you've got nice little monster there.
Head on over to the Rumor Mill and Checkout Boneyards Rumored setlist for the Ultimates, he's always right, and it says there'll probably be a Captain Britain REV. So all the Excaliber fans (both of them, j/k) will have a nice roster to choose from. Shadowcat (The U of course, can't have Excaliber without Lockheed) Nightcrawler, Colossus, and I'm not sure, but wasn't Wolfsbane on Excaliber for a bit ?
I don't think I agree with them giving Excaliber the X-men TA though. X-factor, X-force, and the New Mutants are one thing, but I don't think Excaliber should have been lumped in with them. But she's a nice addition to my X-men team with Pulse Wave and PB, even with the range.
I have read several posts complaining about this click being too watered down. The Phoenix that they are thinking of was JEAN GREY. This is RACHEL SUMMERS, Cyclops' and Jean's daughter from the future. Her powers were never on par with Jean's (at least Jean w/ Phoenix Force), and in the comics she lost even more power after she came back to our time. She is younger and more inexperienced to boot. I think the dial and point cost suit her just fine. As for the Jean Grey Phoenix, yes the old Unique stunk. I, too would like to see a full-blown Dark Phoenix, even if she ends up being a ridiculous 300-pointer!! Maybe a big fig a'la Sinestro? I huge translucent phoenix with her inside? She would need a super-long dial to be really acurate anyway.
Butt enough about Phoenix, WHERE'S MY DEADPOOL?!?!?!?!
Well I'm definitely in the minority here, so I'll start off with the good.
Total suprise! I love Rachel Summers as a character (I have every Excalibur from when she joined til her last appearance), I have the issues of Cable where she appeared, and I've recently gotten interested in her appearances as Marvel Girl. So, I'm thrilled that she finally made the set. Her powers look fantastic and all in an affordable piece. I definitely want one.
Now the bad: Maybe it's just me, but I'm not wow'd by the sculpt. Looks pretty ordinary to me. The paint job is attrocious. But then again, I'm spoiled by the DC figures, so I'm not used to accepting the "Critical Mass" level of work. The Phoenix emblem on her chest looks like someone just spilled their mustard on it.
The good FAR outweighs the bad in this case. Even moreso because I can simply repaint her when I get one. I'll agree with one of the previous posters though - the phoenix force would have looked a lot better with some translucent plastic.
But she's still one of my favorite characters, so I'll definitely be buying this set.
uh sounds sounds good and all w/ the pulse wave and psychic blast but w/ only a six range bulls eye and some of the newer ultimates could possibly make short work of her. Still pondering when they'll make the dark phoenix
Originally posted by Thunderbolts What would have been really neat though was the phoenix flame part being transparent like someone said Ghost Rider's wheels will be (was it a WK rep or just speculation?). Like the Solonavi guys in Mage Knight or Nova, Green Lantern, Killer Frost etc.
The Solonavi plastic is soft and flexible. I'd much rather have that on Heroclix figs than the brittle stuff they used for Nova. She lost an arm one time, and she hasn't forgiven me since...
So, I find this ironic that Rachel Summers is joining the clix world right at the same time she is joining the pages of Xtreme X-Men. Gotta love synergy.
P.S. Yes, I know she has been in the comic for 2 months, and this set won't come out till June, but I call it close enough.
Yay, more x-men. I want this piece definitely. Adds some new tricks to the x-men team. With Gambit and Beast around her range isn't too much of a problem and I prefer a short range on someone with pulsewave anyway. More chance of getting a single target in range nd easier to avoid hitting your own figures. She's got good speed to get herself into range and she can always team up with either version of her mom to TK her into range. I'll certainly use this piece a few times if I can manage to pull one.
I just don't see the point with playing a game with such a diverse background and flavour as Heroclix and such a massive pool of pieces to choose from to limit yourself to playing dupes or the same character over and over.
Definitely agree with those who are less than impressed with the sculpt. I would have preferred to see Rachel without the Phoenix effect. Still, it's good that they differentiated her somewhat from the old Phoenix, and with Marvel Girl and possibly Goblin Queen in the set too, it makes sense to give her psychic blast instead of front-load TK.
