Swamp Thing, Black Adam, Darkseid and probably Queen of Fables are the known SRs I really want, so so far I'm in reasonable territory for being able to get what I want from/using a case pull.
Imperiex means all of nothing to me, and I'm all but certain I'd quickly sell or trade Zod for any other piece I didn't pull that I wanted; I just don't see myself running the Kryptonians.
Thus far, it would see the SR slots have a good mix of characters instead of all of them being the most popular villains from a set like in Cap. Hank Henshaw is a Rare, I wonder if he'll get the Sinestro Corps keyword? Some folks doubted we'd get Doomsday, but I just couldn't imagine a Superman set without him, even if it's a generic Doomsday like in Superman/Batman "Supergirl." (I think that was the storyline). Also, I wonder if we'll get an actual preview today or if Facebook is it for now?

I'm hoping there will be enough odd, specialty storyline versions of characters that several of the SR slots will be taken up with them. The Flashpoint and World of Krypton in particular are of essentially no interest to me, yet are likely to provide some power pieces others will want. As I'm hoping for a case where by a combination of direct pulls and easy trades/sales I can get what I want from the set... and hopefully make a little of the investment back...
It would be odd for them to let a Friday pass without an official preview, complete with a write-up, but I don't know how much GenCon is altering their schedule.

Still too soon to say.
What would your impression of Cap's SR assortment have been had the previews they given us been Quasar, Maelstrom, Squirrel Girl, Scorpio, Kitty Pryde, Human Torch and maybe Baron Zemo -- sort of as a seemingly token Cap villain? I think the way the previews unfolded gave people an unbalanced sense of how the SRs in he set were selected. The first six I mentioned are by no real definition Cap villains, and as there were only 11 SRs in the set that's more than half of the assortment we ended up with.

I'm not exactly certain how to express this, but I also don't have any interest in Flash Point. I just don't like the whole one-shot storyline characters. I didn't care for the White Lanterns and I didn't like House of M. If we get a character, I want it to be a long standing version of the character that I can throw on a team with their normal teammates and not feel dirty while doing it. I can understand other people wanting these one-shot figures to get a greater variety, but I just don't care for them.

Yeah, I had a brain fart there. I was too busy thinking of the previews of the SR's we got and not looking at the total package. Nothing against Muncho, he normally does a wonderful job, but I think the Cap previews were handle exceedingly bad. Don't know if that was his choosing, or if it was "the powers that be" at Wizkids.
For me, the greatest series HAS to include the Yankees. I mean, sure, there have probably been better series, but I'm not emotionally invested in them so they don't draw out the passion. That Red Sox series from '03 was just so intense. I was hanging on every pitch. For me, I can't think of a more memorable series. The '01 World Series would probably be there if it wasn't for Luis Gonzalez and that damn Curt Schilling.
Yankees and Red Sox fans make me sad. They both spend so much time having a rivalry with each other, while us poor Orioles fans hate both teams with all our hearts and they don't even notice.
We are like the first guy Scott Pilgrim fights. We see you both as our arch nemeses, but you guys just get bored by our email and then explode our bodies into quarters like it was nothing.

That is the funniest thing I've ever read. I don't think I know a single O's fan, though. The problem with the Orioles is that they just aren't competitive. It's hard to hate a team that is a constant bottom-feeder.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of them either.
The started list of sub-themes for this set didn't encourage me much, which is why I was (and still remain) hopeful that a case will serve me well. While anything's possible, I don't see it having much of a shot of rising to the level of interest Crisis had for me. That one started out as a Teen Titans-themed set and then morphed into Crisis, leading us to what were (for me) more interesting places and characters. Metal Men & JSA, among others, helped make that a special set. The Superman focus of this set, blended with Flashpoint, World of New Krypton, Reign of Supermen, All-Star Superman... really, only the LoSH sub-theme is of any real interest to me. The rest I can easily pass on.

No problem. I had to go back over it myself to see if it was as much a matter of concentrated Cap villainy as it had started to seem along the way.
Based on some of what he said it seemed that most of the previews were selected early on and higher up. The Hydra theme seemed to dominate for a stretch, and that may have been pushed from the licensor.

In the end, Captain America felt more like Nick Fury/HYDRA than anything else.
I see that Flashpoint Wonder Woman is #55, though I've lost track of the set size and whether this makes her an SR or a chase. either way, regardless of the dial, that's the sort of piece I'd have no qualms about trading or selling.

Much of it's a matter of perspective, though the SHIELD/Hydra emphasis and making the Fury LMD the brick figure definitely helped reinforce that impression.
I think they did a fair job of pulling from Cap's own stories for villains, but for much of his career his enemies tended to either be ones he gained working with the Avengers or SHIELD, or legacy ones like Red Skull and Zemo.

As an Orioles fan I just cheer for not last. I was honestly cheering for an M's win last week just to at least keep the O's record AL losing streak intact, because at least we are the best at something.
But yeah, it feels like the Yankees and Red Sox just use us as a farm team, whenever anyone is good they scoop them up a la Mike Mussina. The really tough thing is the O's make okay money, the just have an owner who has said flat out he has no interest in trying to compete with all of the big markets in his division, so he is going to keep running with a cheap payroll until the system is fixed, i.e. never. But they are still my team, and what's a lean decade or two for a real fan.
