Okay, I've got a 600pt. FP game coming up - all units must have the same symbol printed on their base, so no GS/Merc mechs, and no using house/grand allied units. Thought I'd challenge myself by using the relatively small CNC pool of units. I have only 2 elite T-birds, no elite or unique NC, and also no Lightfoot/Dot. I have plenty of what little else there is. Here's what I came up with.
Option 1:
Nebula Wendigo
- LE Kisho
- Pulse
Rising Sun Wendigo
- Arzu
Bishop
- Elite T-Bird x2
- Vet T-Bird
ATV x5
600 pts. (or swap one ATV for ECM Suite on Rising Sun)
Option 2:
Nebula Wendigo
- LE Kisho
- Pulse
Sabertooth Shadow Cat
- LE Lossey
- ECM Suite
Bishop
- Elite T-Bird x2
- Vet T-Bird
ATV x 4
596 pts.
Option 3:
Vet NC
- Frankie Amir
Nebula Wendigo
- LE Kisho
- Pulse
Bishop
- Elite T-Bird x2
- Vet T-Bird
ATV x3
599 pts.
Option 4:
Vet NC
- Frankie Amir
- Decoy
Morrigan
- Lil Turner
- AnP
Bishop
- Vet T-Bird
- Elite T-Bird x2
ATV x 6
600 pts.
I'm partial to options 2 and 3, but both sacrifice VC2; what do y'all think? I love the idea of bringing a 21" and a 29"(!) AO unit. Oh, and I'm likely to face at least one Shiro and/or triple Roku army (one word, "Crags"). And we don't use mission cards, sadly.
And before you go on about the WH Kelswa having Cap. 0 ... go look in the Units section, because its gone :P (so i'm hoping it doesnt have any cap. anymore)
I know the weaknesses with it (only one large hitter) but i'm pretty sure it'll hit...
Run Jack within 6" (and possibly the terrain the target is hiding behind)
And just drop the Kelswa (wich starts unloaded but infiltrated (gee i hope i get first :P )
Its not really competetive i know, but i think Julz & Jack with BAP would be really really good as support for a (double) tankdrop and would like to know how you guys would support it.
Well it is 176 just to fire around a corner, you can run the Jack around blocking then drop the Kelswa, only problem is you always need to start infiltrated then load up. Because of the 8 Att. It complicates starting specialy if you miss the first turn. Your Inf. drop although excellent in support does nothing on it's own and without command you can never drop them both. As the WH can drop with anything (Darn Mercs that they are) I suggest using Highlanders. Believe me the 2 inches will be the least of you problems making the shot and getting the 5 orders that the perfect setup requires well that is a bit trickier.

No prob.

The infiltration gambit has some problems with ATV's and a 2 inch minimum, you could consider dropping the transport and add 4 infiltrating Inf. pieces to protect the flanks.

Show me a Tank with Att 11 IT and ill consider it......
The WH Kelswa has potetial the infiltration is strong but without cheap command it is tactical hard to play.
Workon the Kelswa I have the feeling it will be tour center piece for the coming year, good luck and good hunting.
Good to hear from you, if you ever need an opponent you know where to find me :)

I'll let you know when i have some spare time, while my life is slowing down a bit again i dont have to much of it atm :P
Besides... the last units i got where the handouts at the last tournament i visited :D (stedenspel)
I also have a cool idea for a 600 army... but i'll brew on it a bit more
Yeah its nice, but i'm wondering if the drop range is a little to low.. and the tanks a re kinda glas jawed...
I think this kind of army will shine in 600, because then you can even use it with say the rots - liao SA.
And about the WH, dont they have their own faction symbol... wich means they cant formation with any other faction they want? (or did i miss something)
Yes off course it does. But the range. My problem with the DF Tokugawa is that your drop range + Bishop = 19 Inches. I tested the piece and cant see it being a strong enough threat to be decisive. The HB which creates the 11 IT.
Bottomline for me it is a more defensive piece instead of an aggresive piece. If my opponent comes to me it will do fine, if I have to hunt him down. Then I have a problem with this piece.
Callit a personal flaw of me. I never really liked TD anyway and if I play one it better be because it sloves all my problems.
WH was stated as being Mercenary so I assumed that was true for their Kelswa as well.

21 inches with the appropriate FP, but then you're restricted in your unit selection. But it's not an unacceptably small selection, esp. with all the gunslingers out there.
Hmm, I'll see what I can throw together for this later. No time now.
I would suggest the use of a 'Grinder', which gets a 16 inch range with same FP and that's make him equal or better then all other of his brathern. I would advise IT for max. accurate but exp.pulse with 10 or 12 possible damage is brutal, it does justify his cost.
Simple army :
Grinder+ Stark
R10+Tokugawa /2xStorm/2x Infiltrator MK2
FP
450
TD and Grinder AO has the same range, speedy vehicle and JJ infantry for support, maybe Slat Flats PC, which would extend TD up to 22 inches.
For 600 points, put command on Grinder and another TD.(4/Command+48/R10+60/Tokugawa+5/FP=117), 33 points left (2x Infiltrators MK2) and it's 599 total.
Yes, the Tokugawa is glass-jawed, and yes, its range is short. But it's only 60 pts. That's so cheap, you can easily fit in all the support you could ever want to help you overcome its range (the only real limiting factor on the thing), and even if you lose one or both tanks, they still don't equal 1/3 of your build COMBINED. An extremely underrated piece.
