I’ve been watching Strange New Worlds for the first time, and someone was just called a “Space Hippie”. I wonder if that applies to me. I mean no harm, but I can be annoying. Peace and Love to all.
I went on this morning to look at all the music conversations, and finally realized that there are so many that it is getting harder to have actual music conversations. This is my fault and I apologize for not realizing it sooner. I am closing all the ones that I opened, and hope everyone will be participating in the overflow bucket opened by our friend Phantalien.
For those familiar with the LPC, it will be obvious why that one will stay open.
This is part of the reason that I now listen to more Asian rock and roll than current Western world music. There are lots of Asian groups that actually embrace rock and roll, and not just generic pop. Although her voice is higher pitched than some may prefer, she has great control and presence. It's the kind of rock and roll that we used to hear, but updated. I will say that I looked for other songs by her, and didn't love any of those. Since this is brand new, I hope it indicates a new direction because I think it is outstanding.
I've been gently encouraged in other threads not to mention Band-Maid anymore due to my excessive enthusiasm for them. Not to mention sharing over 60 of their songs. But since this thread seems to be only me yelling into a Grand Canyon, why not share one more?
One of the first songs that many people try when learning to play guitar is a simplified version of House Of The Rising Sun. It was my route also, even though I later learned to play it a bit better.

My favorite version will always be The Animals. You just can't beat those keys during the song. Frijid Pink is such a well-known classic, for those of us that are older. But that young girl combines Adele style voicings with a touch of Janis. unbelievable.
I never heard any music from SUM 41 but think I have heard the name. Someone referenced their writing style, so I checked out a couple of songs. I sort of like the ones I've now heard. These three don't seem to have a lot in common other than the skater vibe. I think they are all a bit more sophisticated than they seem at first listen.
Warren Zevon has always struck me as a somewhat average singer whose songwriting elevates his music to a wonderful place. His popular songs have some kind of quirk that got the public’s attention, but I’ve always preferred these:

I saw Warren live at the Sunrise Musical Theater, back before it was converted into a house of worship. I actually went to the concert to see the band X. All I really knew of Zevon was his hits, Excitable Boy and Werewolves of London. Watching the show I heard him break into a song from Rick Derringer (Lawyers, Guns and Money) and then Poor, Poor Pitiful Me and then there were even more songs I knew. Really surprised me that I knew about 40% of his setlist.
A+ on the Warren Zevon appreciation. He was a stellar talent. I love his hits, but his later life stuff is quite good. It was sad losing him, but he definitely went out playing the hand he was dealt.
Joe Biden was the first U.S. president to visit the Amazon Rain Forest this week and I understand the local leaders welcomed him with the following performance:
Anyone ever have a riff in their head that they can hum, but can't place where it came from? Woke up very early this morning and that happened to me. I finally realized it was a song that I hadn't heard in years and what it was. Have no idea where the thought came from but am glad that it did.
