Some of us were really hoping for some of these "WHO THE HELL ARE THEY" pieces? Granted, it's weird to have Leland and not have currently legal versions of some of the rest of the Hellfire Club (Selene or Shaw) or Leech without Artie or Gatecrasher without the rest of the Technet (except Yap who appears on her shoulder in the sculpt (how crazy would that be if that was one of the LEs?), but these are steps in the right direction. Just seeing these means that there's hope for more Technet, more Hellfire Club, or Artie.

Tarot.... she's part of the Hellions. She should be part of the set (the only ones that might have lasted longer that aren't being made were Jetstream or Catseye) as Hellions is a subtheme.

Same thing with Bonebreaker, considering we got Pretty Boy and Skullbuster. They're a sub-theme and while I'm sure they won't be superpopular, I'm sure they'll also have the robot keyword, so I'll be seeing them in gameplay.

If I have any complaints about this set, it's the pieces that I wanted to see that we didn't get (and that I didn't think we needed a new Beast or NextWave ever). No legal versions of Rachel Summers, Polaris, Havok, or Darwin when they were the Uncanny X-Men team of a few arcs ago is a little strange. But considering the focus of this set is so much closer to an X-set than Mutations and Monsters, I'm really happy with this set.

No. But neither is Nemesis/Holocaust. And he's supposed to be one.

There is such a thing as too much theme. I like the X-Men just fine, but the lack of variety is a serious mood-killer.

I'm actually really excited about my Reavers! I mean, does anyone remember the 90s X-Men cartoon ep where they're underground and the Shi'ar energy beast sucks out their lifeforces? It was like the creature from Forbidden Planet. That's mainly where I know them from but it was such an awesome 2-parter that they made it a primetime special and had a VHS just with those two episodes.

So happy for this set.

This is a good way of viewing things. They didn't have to make First Class Angel. But I am glad they did. It'll be disappointing when Mutations and Monsters retires (probably as soon as this summer) and you can't play first class in Modern. I'd give it a go just for the challenge. But it's the thought that counts. Could they have put others in instead? Sure. But I'm just glad they put in who they did. Like Ch'od for Starjammers.

Amazing set!

I can't believe all the complaints. If you've been following these boards, this is a fanboy's dreamlist. I'm particularly stoked to see fan favourites like Ch'od, Bonebreaker, and Harry Leland. And Lockheed (breathing fire) is just killer. Bring on the Pet Avengers!!!

I just realized, and I think it's funny given all the griping, but the only figures I don't want are the subset characters. I could care less about Nextwave but I will play them once with my PP Foom. I don't really care for Doug's group though. Or Stryker's guys. But almost everyone else is from my old 90s cartoon and I love it. Finally some love for the one reason I got sucked into this game: the 90s cartoons. I've been getting it from DC with JLU and Legion and other cartoons but never to this extent with Marvel. It's been eventeventevent forever and finally... I just love it. I don't even have most of the other Starjammers and I feel I need to get them now. And Gladiator.

I think I'll post a pic of all the X-Men TAS figures I've got once this set comes out. Now here's hoping the only SRs I don't pull are The Captain and Vulcan.

Sure, a lot of us want some of those great obscure and forgotten characters.

I was hoping for the Dark X-Men to go with Daken from WoS. But oh well.

Couldn't we have at least a few that weren't X related? I'm not the biggest X-men fan and would have liked some more variety. Is this strict theme what will be happening for later set? If so please let the next Marvel set be an Avengers set.

It's been 3 years since a dedicated X-Men set. So I don't see the problem.

Especially when you consider the Hammer of Thor and Web of Spider-Man sets.

I'm sure the next set will probably be Avengers related or something.

It took 5 years. Although it would have been 4 if it wasn't for the dead year. And HoT was going to be a WizTopps set first. But still, BI-BEAST IS THE MAN AND THE SUCKAS HE DEVOURS.

With 8 different Super Booster configurations, I'm wondering if there will be other standard-sized single figures not included on the poster.

The good news is that the older Hellfire Club figures (Black King, Black Queen, Donald Pierce) are still relatively cheap and available for completing HC theme teams. A new Mr. Sinister would have been nice, but the single, existing version is playable with an awesome sculpt.

Phoenix should be close to 300 points, on-par with Cosmic Spider-Man.
