Slam Bradley first appeared in what issue number of Detective Comics?
issue number 1
The selfish infect us all with sad, vulgar, sexual references and a constant barage of innapropriate innuendo. A pity to be subjected to this against our wills, but to allow it into our lives with open arms shames us all
I'm not sure either. I think it'd be Ibis the Invincible, in JLofA #137, but I could be wrong.
well even though its not the question, Cap Marvel did, but they called him captain thunder.
But anyways... who was captain marvel origially patterned after, looks wise?

Nah, just as a kid, my old neighbor use to give me these large boxes full of comics, and many of them dated back to the 40's (her hubby was a WW2 vet). And her sons also collected, then tossed them in boxes and she had to get rid of them. Anyways, Capt M was my fave of the old comics. Now, if only my Mother hadn't tossed out a bunch of them every time I got them and left them home while I was in school. Some I hadn't even read yet. Ah, well.
Before Billy Batson was led by a stranger thru a subway tunnel to meet the wizard Shazam who turned him into Captain Marvel, Billy was on the street selling something, what was he selling?

I'll avoid the obvious sophomoric jokes here and give the true answer: newspapers.

No, Captain Thunder was a completely different character. Obviously an analogue of Captain Marvel, as Marvel's Hyperion was of Superman, etc; but not the same guy at all. Different real name, different origin, different source of powers.

However, when Fawcett created Cap MArvel, the name they first chose was, indeed, Captain Thunder, who was to first appear in Flash comics. However, both, the char's name and the comic book title were both in use by other companies (I wonder which company had "Flash" in use?). There was some legal mumbo jumbo and he was to be named Captain Marvelous, but then, before it was printed, they droped the "ous" from his name. Also, the first issue of Whiz comics was thus numbered as being issue #2. DC resurrected the Capt Thunder name to give Supes someone to fight.
I've sometimes wondered why DC did that "Captain Thunder" story when Captain Marvel was already a DC property at that time (or at least being leased by DC from Fawcett); DC's Shazam! title was already being published when Superman #276 came out. Does anyone know?
