Sorry I haven't been on lately guys, not that any of you missed me. Girlfriend was on vacation this week, and with me on vacation as well, I spent almost all my time with her. So other than pregnant knife fighting girls, what else did I miss this week?
I too was only around sporadically. Don't have a ton of time to be on the Realms when work consumes you and you end spending 7 straight days at work, logging almost 60 hours. With the hour I spend commuting each day, that brings the time away from home almost up to 70 hours. Job security is one thing, but this is ridiculous.
I dunno, it must just be me, but the core Deadpool book is still pretty good. If you want a good read, grab the Merc With a Mouth trades. I thought Gischler did a great job with the character.
To be honest, I personally wish that out of all the Deadpool books, they'd kept Deadpool Team-up as his "core ongoing" series since they seem to be cutting him down to just one sole starring issue per month (down from whatever it was). Deadpool's fun and all, but I have to admit he's better when he reliably has someone to play off of (other than just his yellow boxes). And there were some really good one-shot stories that came out of the run that series had.
Am I alone in thinking that Twitter is stupid and pointless? Facebook is bad enough, but Twitter just takes it to a whole new level. Whatever happened to talking to someone on the phone, or just hanging out?

No, no you're not. I can't possibly imagine how it got as popular as it is.
Personally, I refuse to start up an account (well, there was the one time that I tried starting up a feed as a fictional character, but that kind of died and I haven't touched it since, and I've since re-commited to my stance of not getting involved).
The one exception I make is following jerkwad Batman (not even via an account on the site, but rather by having bookmarked it), only because it's so dang reliably hilarious

I can't talk to celebrities or comic book writers/artists over the phone...and you can say "You could do that on Facebook" they make it seem more personal on Twitter
Yeah so do I, but I much prefer it. Leaving a message for someone to get back to later, and having a whole conversation over a period of days or weeks...its taking something so simple and unnecessarily complicating it. You're taking out the personal interaction. To me, its stupid.
Facebook and Twitter are right up there with this texting obsession. I heard on a talk radio show some guy saying that his daughter is ALWAYS texting on the phone and won't come when called for dinner, so to tell her its ready, he has to text her, since she's on her phone doing that anyway. Its the only way he can get her attention. Personally, I'd just call her once or twice, and if she didn't respond, she doesn't get dinner. Maybe after a few missed meals, she'll get the message.

You don't know them in the first place, why would you need to talk to them? I mean I can understand Facebook SOMEWHAT in that you could leave a message saying "I'm a fan, love your work" or something to that effect. But are you really gonna get into a personal conversation with a total stranger? I wouldn't. And I think its a little arrogant that celebrities would think that people would care about the stupid little mundane things they do in a day. "Just got up, ready to face a new day!" That deserved a message? "Finished going for a ride in my new Benz!" Again, why is that important? "Had lunch at the swanky new Italian restaurant in LA, check it out." I don't care where you had lunch. They're making a big deal about everything they do when it isn't.
I guess some people care about that, but the fact that Twitter is SO popular confuses me.

What he should do is walk up to her take the phone out of her hand and tell it's dinner time. Let her know she might get the phone back after dinner is over.
Personally, I don't like all that phones are capable of doing these days. If my phone can make call, receive calls, keep a record of what calls have been made, and store phone numbers for me (and maybe act as an answering machine), I'm perfectly happy. I haven't touched the camera function on my phone since I got it, I don't text at all, and it disappoints me that it seems so difficult these days to get a phone that doesn't have a million different functions that I don't need and never want to use.

Oh, sorry. You used 207 characters there. You need to learn to write your message in 140 or less.

I use most the functions of my phone. Text, web, and whatever other goodies.
The thing is we can moan and groan all we want. We are just like folks that thought the telephone, television, the internet and countless other changes were just a fad or bad for society. I'm sure there were cavemen way back in the day that thought fire was dumb and kids spent too much time around it. Change and progress are just hard to accept when you have gotten so good at and accustomed to the way things have been.
