Lets try lynching JackofHearts today. He claimed to be invisible yesterday, stated that Grinner was town, and smoke is a bit less visible. Also, he immediately starts a train on someone claiming vote shenanigans.

I automatically assumed they had one recruiter and would have to switch to a kill.

Also: I think they are a replacing cult rather than a transforming cult.

Nemesis is undead, he was recruited by the living dead. I'm guessing that replaced his prior character unless there was a ridiculous coincidence.

I think the cult kill is usually tied to the recruiter. If the recruiter is lost, the rest of the cult is fairly boned unless they can form a voting block. Unless they revert to Town, but that seems unlikely here.
Then again, sometimes the recruitment power passes to someone else if the original recruiter dies.
