Probably not. With X-men they coudl for 2 reasons
A) X-men has a very large fan base more so than Thor, Gl or even Spidey
B) They have a much deeper roster
I tried to think of a 60 fig Cap set and pretty soon you are either putting in the Whole 20 person Serpent Society or have a bunch of one shot appearance people. At least with Xmen even the lesser names (Reavers, Stryker, Trevor Fitzroy etc) are known from appearances in other media like the Cartoons or movies.

I, personally, would have liked to see a few cosmic figures, or even cosmic figures themed with the X-Men. Gladiator anyone?
That would have been nice. The War of Kings tie-in elements would have allowed them to work in a new Black Bolt and maybe even a Medusa, too.
The set's going to sell just fine, but I do hope that they find the fire doesn't burn as long and hot as they'd hoped, and future sets are given a broader mix of secondary themes.
Still, it's done. There will be some cool things coming in this wave, but it's a little sad for this old Marvel fan to find himself starting to get emotionally "past" a new Marvel set even before it's released.
Being that this is the X-Men set and dous are going to be well known X-men duos. We already know Colossus and Wolverine are one.
I'd bet we get the classic costume Cyclops and Marvel Girl Jean Grey in poses like they were drawn when they were fighting the imperial Guard on the moon during the trial of Jean Grey. It would be interesting to See Deadpool/Cable wbaby Hope dou. Wolverine/Jubilee would be interesting as another Dou. Rogue/Gambit or even Gambit/Storm. If they wanted to throw in figures we don't have but to add extras they could do Havok/Polaris. Longshot/Dazzler. Maybe even Banshee/Thunderbird?
LEs may be what some suggested either, repaints of Hellions to make new unmade ones (Catseye in human form could easily be made doing this), OR, the new mutants who appear in Hellion costume could be repainted in their actual New Mutants outfits( which saves me the time of repainting extra ones).
At some point in the rumours and speculations, Wizkids is going to have to commit to the set list. The poster is one such juncture. The fact that we don't see this duo on the set list means either a) they abandoned this figure and it won't be in the set, or b) they plan on distributing it through other means, such as the Super Boosters.
Justin from Wizkids already said the Duos were moved into the regular boosters.

I've had that cover image in my head since yesterday. I do hope we see that one.

They used that one Apocalypse cover where he's holding Cyke and Jean as a basis for the Giant Apocalypse figure, so I'd almost bet that we'll see a Cyke/Jean Duo like that.

I'm fairly miffed at the character selection. I was planning on buying either a brick or a case but after seeing this, it's just going to be singles. This set was too theme-restricted. You could easily have cut out Nextwave for something good. We didn't need the Hellfire Guards or the new Sentinels. Hell, we didn't need the Reavers or Hellions.
I was hoping to get a new Mr. Sinister and some Marauders who have actually been important recently (unlike half this set). Well, at least I'll save some money.
Punisher has punished: 2x Paper Boy, 1x Lian Harper

I guess for DC they could do a 90% Batman Theme set it's popular & there are a lot of characters that need to be made or remade
Superman set could be close to 90% if you include the Forth World & LoSH
Green Lantern they could do a 90% because of all the different Lanterns now but it not as popular.
DC Elseworld set or just all KC it would be easy for 90% or more
War War II I would love to see a set of close to 90% Golden age JSA that weren't in DC75, the rest of All-Star Squadron, Freedom Fighters plus Haunted Tank, Unknown Soldier & others
Aquaman, Flash, Hawkman, Teen Titans & Wonder Woman aren't big enough or popular enough
as for Captain America you could get 90% if you include the All-Winner Squad, Avengers, Invaders, S.H.I.E.L.D. plus their villains I would consider that to be theme
Marvel Horror/Supernatural I would love to see 90% or more. those are my favorite type of comics
Fantastic Four would probably be around 75%
I wouldn't like to see more than 50% for a Hulk set
I don't know if this has been covered elsewhere, but does anyone yet have good information on how the rarity issue is going to work in this set?
1. Are there going to still be 12 super-rares?
With the regular figs numbering up to 54, a likely scenario is that the super-booster figs simply count as the final 6 super-rares, meaning that only 6 of the regular figs count.
Is it possible, though, that there might be a different organization for this? Might they be counting the super-booster figs outside of the regular numbering, something akin to the White Lanterns from DC75? If so, then all of the regular super-rares would be from the 54 regular figs, meaning that instead of 6, a proportional amount, 8-10 would be super-rares.
2. Will it be easier to pull regular-sized super-rares or harder?
In other sets, there is a certain likelihood of getting a super-rare in a regular booster. If the super-booster figs count as super-rares, ones we could never pull in a regular booster, how will that effect the likelihood of pulling super-rares in the regulars? Will super-rares be just as common as usual, therefore making the acquisition of specific ones easier because there are only 6 to choose from instead of 12? Will they attempt to maintain an approximate rarity by making it less likely to pull super-rares of any type in regular boosters?
Have these questions been discussed much yet?
...now, if we can just get Professor Pyg confirmed.
Of all the figures the one I am looking forward to the most is Leach. I created a dial for him several months ago with a special Trait that could nerf CSM. I hope he has a similar Trait.
