Hey Dazzler tried and Rogue had her own comic too. I can't understand why Wolverine is the ONLY X-related character (besides deadpool possibly Cable) who was popular enough to keep up with their own comic. I think Old school Rogue could have been awesome, but they really have downgraded her character greatly.
Well, although Dazzler did first appear as a guest star of sorts in X-Men, she was never a member prior to or during her solo run (which I bought in its entirety a couple years back when I had $40 or so burning a hole in my pocket). So I'd consider that somewhat different than the experience with, say, Rogue or Wolverine, which were established the other way around - first solidly built and characterized in the X-books before being turned loose in their own titles.
However, in general, you're right - as a rule, it seems that it's tough sledding for characters who have appeared solely in a team book in general to succeed in a solo title. It's not an X-ample , but look at how fast Hawkeye's attempt at a solo book tanked a couple years back.

Besides Sienna died and Reaper disappeared. Juggernaut has potential to be a great villain though....Gotta wait for Legacy to see if they can finally do him right.
None of those people, nor Gambit, really lasted long in their own solo-series... cept Wolvie.

The phenomenon is not unique to Marvel. How long has the Martian Manhunter ever been able to sustain a solo title? Or Hawkman? The Atom?
heh great, not I wanna list out all the rosters to see where I went wrong. Scarry part is I can do that off the top of my head too
And now I realize where I goofed up. Magik replaced Blink. Tehn Blink came back after Sunfire died. So I'm going to guess Magik, Morph, Mimic, Sunfire, Sasquatch and Nocturne
Yup. The lineup lasted only 13 issues before Sunfire kicked it and Blink returned. The thread is yours.
Cable's last few attempts at a solo book didn't really last long. Even the one with Deadpool, most prefered Deadpool's part of the book.
As for Johnny Storm... 1960's "Strange Tales". Didn't last long, and he had to share the book.
Yeah, that sounds pretty low key for the old Human Torch. Take the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, most characters whose first appearances were with the Avengers, and none of them can carry a solo book for long. They were made for teams, and that's how they roll.
And it doesn't surprise me that people preferred the Deadpool stuff more than Cable. Deadpool rocks! Doesn't make Cable bad, but he doesn't measure up to the merc with a mouth.

Well, THE old Human Torch, the original from the 1940's, he lasted longer in a solo series.
That may be easy for your relatives, dude, but I'm in Cluelessburg over here.
Oh, come on. I can't believe it'd be that hard for you to figure out. Records. Comicbook char. Obviously a comicbook character who is supposed to be a singer. There are only two I know of, and one of them wouldn't fit the bill as it's obscure and PaFa said it'd be easy, so that leaves only one.
Dazzler.
