Cool and cool! I really want to try out a Zemo-led Masters of Evil team soon, but I want plenty of points to work it in, so it's more likely to be a home game.
Madame Hydra and Hydra Bob are the two I'm lacking. No complaints -- I've gone to three events in the past four weeks and came away with three of the LEs, which is a bizarre turn for me.
Two weeks from now it'll be another Golden Age event, but with a sealed element. Bring a 200 pt Golden Age team, buy a booster of something that's available and use it to build the other 200 pts. Yeah, it's a nod to the host to help him clear out some more stock, but I don't mind... depending on what he comes up with as available boosters.
Currently it looks as if he only has Cap and DC 75th on hand, but he was talking about a little bit of a restock. I think I'll build at least a couple teams ahead of time and pick one based on which sets are available.
That's basically what we did...we brought 200 points bought a booster then built from the two...had to use atleast one from each, which was hard for me as the booster I got was Baron Zemo, Batroc, Luke Cage, Fixer, and Adaptoid....I brought:
COMMANDERCOOL FACTS O' LIFE: There is a kind of dwarfism called primordial dwarfism where the person has a proportionately small body all around, including very small vocal cords that result in a high-pitched helium voice. Primordial dwarfism is rare and unfortunately and unsurprisingly quite deadly. FACTS!

There's something about that that seems so terribly unfair.
That gigantism in its various forms leading to shorter lifespans has some sense of balance to it, at least from a distance (a distance far enough to ignore all of the ultimately cripplingly painful joint problems, among others) because there's some period where it seems to convey advantages via reach, strength and some degree of intimidation. To always have been tiny, delicate and fragile... it feels wrong that there's not some balance via longevity. Of course, that's the problem with trying to impose a sense of balance and, well, justice on nature.

A nice booster.
I realize it's still just a 50:50 chance, but I really want to run a MoE team where I have a shot at having characters take actions every turn and not take any pushing damage for it. I'm also anxious to try to set Mr. Hyde up for a shot at delivering a pounding.
I've bought so heavily on Cap, and have next to nothing in there I'm still looking for, that I think I'll be trying to aim for a booster from a different set if available. A little extra incentive for me to get there early.

I bought so little of it...I was looking at my generics and noticed that I have no hydra or Shield agents, just those three howling commandos and two adaptoids, three now after that booster pull. Need to take better inventory at some point but only got 7 boosters, all but 2 of them were from sealed tourneys and haven't even seen a gravity feed.
Well, today's game marks the second time I've used Darkstar and she is WELL worth her points. Highly mobile support piece that can bog down troops with that free Smoke Cloud. She literally kept double base Cap at bay for half the game while multi-tasking. Got to use her comrade Ursa as well and he is a ton of fun. He wrecked a TRU Sentinel, killed Phobos, and scattered a team with ease before getting taken down. Looking forward to trying the other Soviet Soldiers now.

Yeah, she's a gem. I ran the Winter Guard/Soviet Super Soldiers a week ago and generally enjoyed them.
Putting together a good Champions team will be the next step with her.
It'll have to be either a home game or abandon theme, though, as they've yet to give us an Angel with the keyword. Despite the costume they really should have added that to the First Class version we got a little while back; I mean... he flies. Except for when he's been altered he has a very basic, simple power.

I'm a big Marvel fan and was very much looking forward to this set, so I went a bit overboard with it between the main set and the gravity feed.

I actually recently had a conversation with some folks about whether or not the future of the human race is to genetically engineer humans down to smaller size. It seems like, if done with design, it would increase lifespan and decrease space and resource consumption. As a genetic mutation though it comes with the baggage of chemical imbalance and whatever other unforseen problems.

So tonight I got to play clix with some friends. 2 regulars and one friend who we haven't seen in a while. I tried out Quasar in the second game. I was quite disappointed. For 263 points, he's just not that great, I found. In sealed, don't get me wrong, he's beastly, but that's because there's not much else in sealed that can take him down. In a regular game, he's in trouble. His movement SP that where he can Phase, then shoot is so janked. He can only move 5 or less squares to use it, and then when he does, he gets half range. So in essence, he's got a moving 10 range. I'd have preferred that they just take off 30 points from his cost and give him regular Running Shot. That way he could use his full range and snipe from afar. The way he is now, he's gotta get up way too close to the action, when his range is one of his greatest assets. Or, he just sits back and takes potshots, like a regular Power Cosmic piece without move/attack, to get his full range, and in that case, there's other pieces that can do that for way cheaper. Plus, his values are really kinda substandard, I found. 1 click of 11 attack up front, followed by a bunch of 10s, then another 11 attack, and then more 10s and then 9s. This guy is almost a team by himself, and just pinging him for 1 click (which isn't hard to do) takes those decent looking numbers and makes them totally average. When he has HSS, his range is AGAIN halved when shooting, and even though he gets Outwit, his damage and attack are very unimpressive for his cost. I get that he's almost immune to PB, but there's so many other ways to get around that. He's got 1 lonely click of 18 defense up front, so its not hard to just run up and hit him for a couple clicks, making him a lot less threatening. I may have played him wrong or something, but I don't think so. I got nailed a few times and made my Imperv roll to save myself, but once I got pinged for 3 damage, reduced to one, I was having trouble hitting a lot of stuff. Then I got hit again to my mid dial and once more, the numbers just weren't there to back up the powers. Then finally I got whacked to my first Phasing/PC click and I was essentially done. I couldn't hurt anyone with Invuln anymore. Now I was playing a SHIELD team and didn't have any healing agents to back me up, which I'm sure would have helped, but honestly, for 263 points, I shouldn't NEED to pay extra for support to make him work. He should be able to work by himself, since that's what I'm paying for. And from what I see, to keep him looking good, he just needs way too much help. Look at, for example, Green Scar. He can keep going and going. Sure Support would be great, but its not necessary to keep him looking awesome. With Quasar, he's just too fragile, and even aside from that, they really gimped his powers. Had they allowed full movement and half range, or half movement and full range, for his movement SP, I could see him being a lot better and actually worth his cost, but as it is, I don't see why they felt the need to gimp it. It wouldn't be that abusable, and even if there was a chance it was, he's 263 points! You're paying a lot to be able to use it. In reality, they nerfed it quite a bit, and it caused his playability to go down a lot. Overall, he's OK, nasty in sealed, but in constructed, really not impressive.
Aside from that, I was able to buy a SR Phoenix and Rojhaz from my friend who I hadn't seen in a while, and I got them for a good price, so I'm happy about that. I just need a few more pieces and I can finally play some of these teams that I've been making.
