I'm sure the thing in his hand will be see thru kind of like how Mysterio looked in the preview and I'm sure someone has already pointed this out by now.

Unleashed may have been DC's 3rd set, but it was, more significantly, WizKids' 8th Heroclix set. I'd say that the design experience gained from all the previous sets, DC or not, definitely contributed to the success of Unleashed.
Why not compare Ultimates to Unleashed? That is much more fair, in my opinion.
It's turning into a more nuanced game, though. At least, it seems to be driving in that direction.
Loki, based on what we know, has much to commend... though we'll have to see how the specific match-ups on his dial work out first. So far he appears to offer multiple supporting and enhancing functions along with being able to deal damage that'll cut directly through damage-reducing powers and still be useful after pushing and otherwise taking damage.
Stepping back and looking at what we can see of the mix of figures and the new game mechanics via the Feat cards in particular, we appear to be pushing into an area where the players are being encouraged to see the benefits of pushing the characters a little rather than just staying on early, peak clicks. Pounce, within the confines of this expansion, seems primarily designed to help bring Spider-man to life. At the same time it'll press players to become bolder, since each use of it will cost Spidey a click of his dial.
The allure of the Chargers Running Shooters and HSS figs is undeniable -- it's very direct and aggressive. Pretty obviously Loki can't be played that way, but that's really a good thing seeing as how Loki, the comics character, would never operate that way either.

Well if that is the case, compare Cosmic Justice to Critical Mass.
Chuck Norris is the only person who can simultaneously hold and fire FIVE Uzis: One in each hand, one in each foot, and the 5th one he roundhouse-kicks into the air, so that it sprays bullets.
I just wish the figure looked that good...sounds like a good piece for 300+ point games, but the sculpt looks a bit "flat" - still, maybe it's only a painted pre-sculpt...anyone remember Psylocke ?? (grin)

U Despero (Silver Surfer killer)
The most cost-effective and playable piece in DC. He's far from the raw powerhouse that Thor is though. Despero is an excellent figure, but he needs back-up. Many Marvel figures don't.
KC Superman
KC Magog (Everybody killer)
KC Shazam
As I said, I want a good DC figure that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. All these guys are 200+. No one would look twice if you ran Magneto or Iron Man in a 300 But if you tried to field these guys in one, they'd think you were crazy. And for good reason. Heavy hitters this big are worthless without support. With numbers this high, you can't afford any. (Unless they are...MARVEL.)
Other greats:
V Deathstroke
Great piece. No arguements there.
V Easy Company Medic
Does the same thing a Veteran AIM Medic does.
E,V Hal Jordan
Good pieces, but just a little costly for team abilities you won't use.
V Cheetah
Cheetah is one of those pieces that everyone says is awsome, but I never see anyone actually USE her competatively. Just odd.
V Wonder Woman
She's good, but she's conventional. Wow, Charge with Super Strength and Imperv. Sorry, but she's like most DC bruisers in that she has no range. And this game is VERY dominant in Range.
E Batman (still)
I'm afraid Ultimates has sealed Batman's fate. Hawkeye is practically a team staple, now.
E,V,LE Aquaman
Heh. Aquaman's cursed here. Can't hit the broad side of a barn, even with an 11 Attack. Okay, he isn't bad, but he's a little, little figure with no Range and can be swatted by figures half his points.
V Hawkgirl
Excellent figure. I use her all the time.
LE Hawkman
I don't see why he's good. A bad TA with low Attack and no Willpower? Not very good.
E,V Bane
Nerfed by NAAT.
LE Atom
A support (Yes, SUPPORT) piece that costs 50 points to do what one Con Artist does. Sure, that's one Perplex you'll never be rid of with Atom, but most seasoned players usually would opt for 4 Con Artists rather than use Atom.
E,V Black Adam
HyperSonic is VERY valueable. But a low defense and no Range hurts him too. One Outwitter that costs half his points ruins his whole day. (At least Nightcrawler has a high DV to back him up.)
V Live Wire, E Saturn Girl
Um...Yeah. Great Wildcard pieces. Beats the crud out of those terrible Wildcard pieces in Marvel. You know, like Taskmaster, Klaw, and the Doombot LE.
R Steel
Yeah. Hawkeye definately put this guy out of a job.
Pog Alfred, Pog Security Guard
Ah, yes. Everyone loves these pieces. Alfred goes along perfectly with DOCTOR DOOM!

That isn't really a fair comparison, considering that Unleashed had to try an catch up to Powerhouses that came out in Clobberin' Time, Xplosion, AND Critical Mass.
And if you really want to compare DC and Marvel by set release number, let's compare Infinity Challange to HyperTime. IC handed out 11 attacks and 17 defenses like candy. In HT, if they were given a 10 attack with a 16 defense, they were considered a high-end figure. So right from the start, DC started out a little behind.
