Legacy was legal for the finals, but not used a lot. I was surprised, none of the big guns showed up. Croloris had a Jinx on his team, a few of us had ICWO, but no sign of Ares or the KC crew. The most commonly seen piece was Black Adam, which 1/3-1/2 the teams in the finals were based around.
My team consisted of:
V Nebula with Trickshot
V Green Arrow with Trickshot
E Havok
E Booster Gold
E Paramedic
In Contact with Oracle, with Oracle on the card.
First round I matched:
Despero
V Hawkeye
R Jean Grey
2 x R Con Artist
R Destiny
E Paramedic
I played an Overconfidence BFC, which saved my butt. I took his team, he beat my Green Arrow and Booster Gold. After I took out his Despero, I challenged his Destiny to a fistfight, so he moved her up to take on my Paramedic, both on their last click. We had a good time trying to roll 12s every other round for about 20 minutes. Some guy wandered by to tell us what we were doing was illegal, but Hair10 confirmed that it was alright. Later, same guy was telling Hair10 about the stupid players that were illegally battling Destiny vs Paramedic, and spent a few minutes arguing with Hair10 about the rules. If you learn one thing this weekend, it is this, "DO NOT ARGUE RULES WITH THE RULES ARBITRATOR."
Second round, I faced Roland, and got skunked. He was nice and offered to let my Paramedic go so I wouldn't have a 0, but I'm stubborn. Roland would not engage in a Destiny/Paramedic fistfight, however.
I was surprised at the lack of perplex in the finals. The guy I fought had two hookers, but I think he was the only team that had multiple perplex, not counting ICWO. I was also surprised by the lack of Thors. I guess this makes V Black Adam the new "It" figure. He is so borken.
This was probably the friendliest tournament I have ever been to. Others may have had a different experience, but I saw no loud rules arguments, no lawyers complaining because you didn't explicitly turn off Incap, and no sore losers. Everyone seemed to have a good time, and no one was parade-raining.
This was also one of the smoothest tournaments I've been in. The computer broke down at some point on Saturday, but the boys in blue did not miss a beat, and kept the tournament chugging along, while still handling the Battle Royales. Kudos to Hair10 and the rest of the WK crew on an excellent job!
Team Realmworx was a fantastic group of guys. I spent most of the weekend hanging out with Bubblehead and Bad6423, but got to meet all of the team, and a few other besides. I sat next to and chatted with Magus390 for a few rounds on Saturday before I realized who he was.
I'm already counting down the days until San Diego

YOU BEAT MY FRIEND's DESPERO TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i'm just joking. it was his first convention too. he plays a lot of local venues where he is from. i have only played a total of 3 wizkids supported tourneys including the ones at WWLA. it was a BLAST! i'm with steve. kudos hair10. as far as legacy, the second guy i played had
R JInx
E Jinx
V Jinx
SR Etrigan
SR The Red Hood
GroovyBoy... still pretty creepy, but he doesn't hold a candle to the creep-master DS. Speaking of which, I've got a pretty creepy suprise for DS that I'm bringing back.

How is it illegal to have two opposing figures fight each other? I find that battle quite funny to be honest and am glad to see two people having a good time even when the game is pretty much over with.
Roland would not engage in a Destiny/Paramedic fistfight, however.
Why the heck not? If the game is pretty much wrapped up at that point, what's the big deal?

Have to give kudos to hair10 for doing such a fantastic job running all the tournaments. I was lucky enough to place in the 600pt marvel constructed going 4-1, finished 8th. I was using U Thor, U Phoenix, U Magneto, 3 r con artists, r Domino, r Black Panther, r Jean Grey, V Paramedic, and Justice is Served. I might of had something else but I can't remember right now. Lost my first game when earthquake hit on the very last round and I didn't have time to recover and take out either his Thor or Count Nefarius, which is all he had left. All in all it was a good day though and I had lots of fun.
For Saturdays tournament I really thought I was done before I started when the best team I could put together was R Doc Fate, R Black Adam, R Deo Agent, E Deo Agent, and E Batgirl. First game faced off against a Doc Fate team and basically just outlasted him, just barely. He was on the verge of k.o.ing my Black Adam when time ran out. My second round I faced an E Black Adam team and he got the first shot in but I was succesful on my impervious role, on my attack back he wasn't, game over. Game 3 I don't really remember, just know I was able to wipe out his team. Game 4 I really was sure I was gonna lose, it was Magog with Raven, Gotham PD, and Hawkgirl. He got the first big hit in on my Black Adam taking him to his last click but after that his rolling hurt him badly. Doc Fates PC forced Magog into 2 critical misses, one on a push and I was able to break away with Black Adam and heal back to hypersonic, I eventually caught back up to him with a heavy object and took him out. Placed 3rd and got 4 LE's and 4 purple promos, was also able to purchase my phoenix and dragon this day. Showed up for the finals on Sunday with my team, decided to try something different for once(big mistake). I used E Black Adam, E Black Panther, R Domino, Todd Rice(Obsidian L.E.), and R Jean Grey. Lost both my games due to some really atrocious rolling, never rolled higher than 5 in both games even with PC. All in all I would have to say though that the weekend was a great success, and a lot of that is due to Hair10 and his great attitude. For those that were there my wizkids name is Don_Monda.
Fridays tournament for Dark Phoenix and Sundays tournament were both 5 rounds. Fridays tournament you had to be in the top 16 to make the last round and Sundays tournament the top 8 made it to the 3rd round and it was single elimination from there.
Hair10 and Webhead, where are all the photos you guys took of the games being played? I was trying to find the post earlier but can only find the photos of the hcrealms team members.

I think most people missed out on the best event of the con, which was the 14-Dark Phoenix battle royale (with cheese) held in the VIP room on Saturday. It took place on a 2 x 4 set of outdoor maps, with teams of 7 for the first 4 turns, followed by a free-for all the rest of the game. By the luck of the dice, Doom's Medic, I, Moteman, and ro_gan all ended up on the same team. As everybody feared making the first move, the first round was all passing, and we only had 3 real turns before the true carnage began. Doom's Medic and some other guy went down pretty quick, and ro_gan flipped sides to form a troika with guys from the other side of the table. Moteman, his friend Jamie, and I had our own alliance going, and perfected a technique suggested by Doom's Medic: If not quite in range of an enemy to make your first RS multi-attack, do it to your "friends" (remember, it was technically a free-for-all at this point), but split the damage so nobody gets hurt. Just make sure when you do the first one, it puts you in range for the second one to hit an enemy. After downing three Phoenii this way, our alliance had grown to six, and we were hurtling towards ro_gan's crew. Impervious rolls were key to the match, but they were also very rare. Ro_gan kept going on about there being four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (i.e. "Hey, stab your buddies in the back and join us!), and Moteman got really edgy and nervous, but nobody went for the recruiting effort. Did I mention how boned people were if they ended up on their Jean Grey clicks? Ro_gan and Moteman got into a Jean Grey fight on the top of a building, but ro_gan's punch put Moteman back on good clicks. As it turned out, Jamie stabbed me in the back, but the ally of mine who was still untouched worked him over for me. I limped around impotently until my avenger finished everyone else off, but at least I came in second.
As a lot of you know, I'm pretty easy going about Clix, but one thing did upset me at WWLA. During the Invitational qualifiers, and again in the finals, the players were required to play the indoor map. Neither time were they told this, either befoire drafting their sealed team or constructing their finals team. This is simply unacceptable. If the point of the Invitational Series is to see who is the best player (which I hope would include building, tactics, and strategy), players should have the same options allowed to them in a standard game. People build sealed teams thinking, "Okay, this may not be the best team, but if I can get inside/outside, I'll have a chance." Then to be told, "Sorry, opportunity denied... oh, and of course you can't go back and build your team, even though we didn't tell you," sells the entire process short. I'm not one of those people who think the lack of variety in tournament play is as bad as some would make it seem, and feats/BFCs have definitely addressed the issue, but to arbitrarily constrict the format (yes, it was arbitrary: Why inside? Why not outside?) will just lead to a further shrinking of armies/BFCs in Invitational use. I don't know who made the call on that one, and I'm really hoping it wasn't Karl, but it was a bad decision. And this is coming from someone who made the finals and played exactly as long as he wanted to play.
On a final note: I am longer commenting on rumors that I unzipped my fly and pulled my %$@# out onto the table at Rock Bottom on Saturday night...
