I think the above is pretty debatable. I didn't see that as a good death; I thought it was kind of horrific and nowhere nearly as heroic a death as, say, Barry Allen was given.
True, when looked at in that way. I just mean his death wasn't dumb. Might not of been a big time heroic death, but real life is like that. You're strong and healthy when you wake up, but then go to take a shower, slip on the soap, fall and break your neck and die. Not heroic, more like tragic.
And Barry's back to the land of the living. And that's another debate. Good heroes who die being brought back to life. It happens often.
The war with Superboy Prime and the Legion of Super Villains is a psychological one as well as a physical one. Thats why Brainy recruited the Legions of multiple universes. Thats why they recruited Sodam Yat. Thats why they resurrected Kid Flash. And that is why they are going to create a new clone of Connor Kent with Lex Luthor and Superman's DNA.
They can clone the body, but they can't clone his mind. This new clone will not have the same thoughts and/or memories. They'd need a copy of Connor's entire mind to load into the clones brain, and even then, it's somewhat unethical, as the new clone's mind would have to be wiped.
How do you think Geoff Johns will save Kal-L from being a Black Lantern?
That would involve banjo music, Dan Dido, a private room and for Geoff to willingly squeal like a pig.
This is also my theory on how Bendis keeps his job, just replace Dido with "Joephisto" and Geoff with "Bendis".

I didn't say they were bringing Connor back. Just that they were going to make a new Connor clone. It's war buddy, and they'll take any edge they can get.

Then why stop at one clone? They can make an army... if they can replicate the process.
3 B5's, and one of them was outsmarted by Batman not too long ago.
A clever conman could outwit Stephen Hawkings or someone similar - doesn't mean the con artist possesses anywhere near the intelligence or store of information.
"Nobody important? That's amazing. You know, in 900 years of traveling time and space I've never met someone who wasn't important."

Who was it written by? That masterhack Jeph Loeb?
I want these clixed: Doc Savage, Fu Manchu, Tarzan, The Shadow, The Green Hornet & Kato, Conan, Solomon Kane, The Phantom, King Kong, Universal Monsters, Black Orchid, Manhunter (Paul Kirk), Xemnu the Titan, unclixed Kirby Fourth World characters, and Lilith, Daughter Of Dracula.
Brainiac 5 (AFAIK in all incarnations) is often written as being so narrowly focused on a problem that he doesn't pay attention to much else.
Sun Boy's death: As long as any LSH story is going to echo the TMK version of Sun Boy as a mopey prat, death is about the only thing good for him. Sun Boy bothers me as a character for a lot of reasons:
1) No version in Heroclix! His absence single-handedly ruins more potential Silver Age lineups than any other un-made Legionnaire.
2) He was often written as practically interchangeable with Lightning Lad (except for the relationship with Saturn Girl), with his major contribution to the Silver Age mythos being he was the first Legionnaire to "go crazy" while in uniform (Supergirl and Red K don't count!)
3) He had one of the few powers that could take out Superboy and Mon-El (Red Sun baby!) yet his "Secret Origin" was about as lame as Bouncing Boy's "boy am I thirsty!" origin. I just don't think writers ever reconciled Sun Boy's raw power without ever having done anything to really merit his powers.
