Knowing that some venues soldiered on well through the time when there was no Wizkids gave me some hope, but it's back to the same old business over the past year.
Prizes, unless they're utter carp or are otherwise readily available, always influence the team-building and play styles of at least some of the players.
Yeah, as I've said, it's best if I stay out of that sort of thread. I've been to a variety of venues and even became something of a regular here and there, but it always reaches a point where the unpleasant outweighs the pleasant, and prizes are a significant ingredient.
I'm glad you enjoy them, but I do not honestly believe in such exceptions. It works well for your group, but that's its own dynamic that you're comfortable with. People have shuffled into their own comfortable spots and pecking order.
Okay...Fair enough

So, I'm starting to hit the wall again in my alarming consumption of podcasts. Does anyone have anything they can recommend that has a big archive and/or frequent updates to help keep me entertained at work?

It's likely best for all if I stay out of that sort of thread. I have that fundamental problem of really disliking a prize-driven system, and will relentlessly call B.S. on any who claim that it has no impact on the Great Guys™at his particular venue.
I call BS on your BS.
At my venue, we regularly have 3 people show up week after week. The judge doesn't take a prize most of the time and he plays the odd man, so we have Double Fellowship which means we all go home with an LE.
Sure, every once in a great long while we get another person or two and one or two of us miss out on an LE or two, but we generally don't want all of them and we trade out to each other. We all go home happy.
Because of this, the prize really doesn't affect build.
There's even one guy who will outright tell you that he would love to Power Game, but he knows it doesn't fit the venue, so he doesn't do it.
But, BS on my BSing your BS because we're the exception.
I believe that when LEs are on the line, it should always be sealed. It'd help the venue and it's the best way to make it fair.

Do you know who Bob and Tom is? Ever listened to their radio show? VERY FUNNY

Youtube. I used to stay entertained at work listening to documentaries and stuff.

There's one we can agree on. It still won't get me to want to go out to a venue regularly, but I have tended more often to show up for sealed/marquee events than for constructed ones.

Too many sealed events could alienate the players with less money to their name, though. I know I would personally stop playing at a venue (And have) if they started running too many sealed events. Plus, it always seems like the same people have all of the luck when it comes to packs. Dngergrrl (almost) always pulls crap for sealed (Not counting when she pulled Lamppost Batman at C4TC) while I almost always pull good figures.

Yeah, really, the best way to handle it is to eliminate LEs as prizes. (Well, it's what works best for me, and seeing as how I'm repeatedly assured that the prizes are considered to be no big deal to various groups of great guys, it shouldn't be that much of an issue.)
Contract includes a 60-90 minute feature to be produced sometime for an as yet unspecified format. (Could be DVD first, then tv.)
I'm glad Adult Swim is renewing a show that should be renewed. I'd be very happy if they'd let Tim & Eric slip into oblivion. I'm tired of quickly reaching for the remote to turn the channel as soon as that comes on.
I had planned on using more sealed for our upcoming tournaments, but our venue doesn't have enough bricks left. I'm including a number of Super Boosters as prizes in addition to the LE's. I'm hoping once we get done playing for Super Boosters, the LE craze will have died down a bit so people aren't as prone to playing cut-throat teams to win them. Fortunately, I don't think we have anyone I need to seriously worry about.

I think I've heard a few episodes. If I'm thinking of the right show I found the hosts obnoxious. But I'll go back and download a few more I suppose.

I'm not always in front of a computer, which is why I like podcasts. If I am though I'm always on here.

Pretty sure it's buried somewhere on my Itunes history. I'll blindly download a few dozen more episodes. I like that show, but I forget about it.

Very excited about Venture Brothers being picked up. I'm not a big Tim & Eric fan, but I know people who are and they've sent me some incredibly funny bits from it. Given how cheap it must be to film I won't mind if it keeps going forever and produces mostly garbage but occasional really great stuff.
There was one sketch in particular that was an infomercial for a guy who ties paintbrushes to his cats and makes art.
Edit: Here's the clip. As much as I don't usually care for this show, I think that's hilarious.
Edit edit: Apparently the Realms filters a certain word that makes the link not go through, but you can probably guess it if you want to see the video. It's a slang term for "cat".

I used to listen to Bob & Tom every morning years ago when I worked in a deli. They had some funny stuff going on.
