No, the grenade pool is set at the beginning of the game. After that, characters friendly to you have access to X number, which doesn't change no matter who changes sides or for how long (baring game text that does explicitly change your pool size).
so, grenades are not removed when a character is ko'd? wasn't sure about this when i played this evening. (frag grenade onto a roof + knocked off roof into opposing red hulk = EPIC)
It hit me as soon as I walked out to lunch, square vs. character.
However, how about that question I posted before this one?
Does Toughness appearing after the initial 2 damage from the Frag negate the extra 1 damage it deals or is the 1 extra on top of the 2 damage to the target square? as in:
222
232
222
Or
222
222
222
Then 1 more to the character occupying the target square? I'm thinking it's the latter.
It appears to me the 1 additional damage is at the same time as the normal 2 damage. The reason I say that is that it does not say anything about 'after damage dealt' or 'after actions resolve.'

You do not lose them. The number of grenades in your pool is set at the beginning of the game, then you can lose and add grenades throw game effects, but you don't lose grenades on KOs.
I don't think this will work unless you have a grenade pool of your own, since that is determined at the start of the game and the grenade pool is based on the team and not the individual character. If you meant something else, then accept my apology and fill us in on your secret tech.
You would need grenades in your own pool, but I love the mechanic and will be employing it on a regular basis.
I know [I know] it's a function of the rules.... but I feel pretty strongly that these stealth-ignoring damage-by-proxy attacks [grenades and, to a lesser extent, TKing an object into a square] should, through some exception in the wording, ignore Shape Change.
I know it won't, I understand why it won't, and I can even agree that making my wish so would be an unnecessary complication unwanted in a game full of necessary complications, but, man, there's just some points where the suspension if disbelief becomes hard to maintain.
That's all. Just wanted to gripe about that.
As soon as you realize that just because it does or doesn't make sense, has no bearing on whether it is "by the rules", you will be a much happier person.
Believe me, I know where you are coming from and I am the type of person that it has to make sense to me. Heroclix, sometimes it doesn't make sense.
Last night at the venue I was playing at the judge said that when throwing a grenade all the characters had to be within the 5 square range to be affected by the grenade. Is this true?

No. The square you throw to has to be within 5 squares.
Do all the characters getting hit with energy explosion splash damage have to be within the character's range value? (the answer is no)

Quick question. Rolling a crit miss on a grenade toss. Would you take 1 damage from this since it isnt a normal attack that would deal damage? I would assume you do take the damage I just want to clarify.

It is not a "no damage" attack, so you would get pinged.
Of course, all secondary effects that don't hinge on characters being hit would still apply, which is nice. Makes the Ink grenades an assured bit of damage against figures that you know can't get away.

Thank you. This happened to me the other day and I took the damage. Just wanted to make sure for the future. "No damage attack" makes a lot of sense to me.
Someone earlier had questioned the timing of placing tokens.
Was this addressed yet? Apologies if I have skimmed over it.
My question deals more with the basic mechanics.
Do you place, for instance, the hindering marker from the Ink grenade regardless if any of the attacks hit?
Question that came up at our FLGS tonight.
Our understanding is that the token/tokens would be placed as a result
of targeting the square, and that the attack roll has no bearing whatsoever.
Would this be correct?
